Walk 2 , Brockadale Woods, Wentbridge
The Yorkshire Trekker goes it alone for a Sunday stroll through Brockadale Woods in Wentbridge, Pontefract. The woodland walk takes you from Wentbridge to the sleepy village of Kirk Smeaton.
I must apologise for the poor quality of some video and audio throughout this and the last video, the use of a cheap camera has marred the viewing experience....However, improvements are being made and I promise better quality for future treks!

Brockadale Images. (BUTTERFLIES)
Brockadale is a Nature Reserve of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and lies between the villages of Wentbridge and the Smeatons just to the east of the A1, 10 miles north of Doncaster.
Its name derives from 'broken dale', aptly describing the craggy outcrops of limestone which dominate parts of the reserve. Many of the steep-sided slopes are covered in semi-natural woodland, or meadows which have been long unploughed.
Brockadale became a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve in 1966, but with several extensions is now about 2km long and covers much of the valley between Wentbridge and the Smeatons. Most of this beautiful reserve is classed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The reserve has one of only two sites in England where a minute snail called Truncatellina cylindrica can be found.

Walk 1, Waterton Country Park
Take a walk with The Yorkshire Trekker and friends....The first walk takes us to Waterton Country Park in Wintersett, Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
My daughter Samantha joined me and what should have been a 5 mile walk turned into a 7 mile walk due to some dodgy instructions, but this didn't deter us, we soldiered on and completed it.
The series will take us all around the Yorkshire area, from local treks to the Yorkshire Dales to the North Yorkshire Moors.
