Bellini: Norma (Brooklyn Theatre) Trailer 2018
NORMA
An opera in 2 acts by Vincenzo Bellini
20 - 29 July at Brooklyn Theatre
This opera is a lyric tragedy and at the same time a leading example of the bel canto genre. Norma became justly famous as a result of the first act prayer for soprano - Casta Diva, sung by sopranos like Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballé.
After Salon Music’s highly succesful productions of other bel canto operas like Rigoletto (Verdi) Don Pasquale (Donizetti), Martha (Flotow), La Fille du Regiment (Donizetti), Lucia die Lammermoor (Donizetti) and La Traviata (Verdi) among others, we are proud to present our first production of Bellini’s Norma.
Brooklyn Theatre diva, Ilze Coetzee, who sang several of the above leading roles will be singing the title role in Norma. Italian tenor Filippo Adami from Florence, takes on the role of Pollione. The role of Adalgisa will be sung by Ané Pretorius. The bass, Thomas Mohlamme sings the role of Oroveso.

Relaunch of Pappas Restaurant in Sandton
Pappas restaurant in Sandton is an institution and has been around since 1987, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the relaunch evening last night.
While the venue may look different (stunning is the word, I am looking for), the food is still fantastic and the ethos of Greek family values still holds true.
