The Brooks & District Museum
The museum is organized to be “walk through the ages”. There are exhibits including the N.W.M.P. outpost, the Canadian Pacific Railroad station, Blacksmith shop, School House and many more.
First World War exhibit at the Brooks and District Museum
The Brooks and District Museum have put together an exhibit commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. The exhibit provides an overview of the Great War, and chronicles the role of local residents in the global conflict.

EID Historical Park
Located in Alberta on Highway 36 between the towns of Brooks and Vauxhall, we explore the Eastern Irrigation District (EID) Historical Park in the small town of Scandia.
Complete with train station, grain elevator, a barn, and several other buildings, it explores the history of the area and tells some of the stories of the people who settled the area to make a new life.

퀘벡 시에서 차로 2시간 거리. 아름다운 풍경을 자랑하는 샤를르브아 지방의 베생폴은 퀘벡 예술의 중심이다. 갤러리가 늘어선 거리에는 이곳이 미술의 고장임을 보여준다. 캐나다 미술의 특징을 볼 수 있다는 한 미술관을 찾았다. 유명한 화가의 집을 미술관으로 만든 곳이다. 미술관으로 들어서자 미술관장인 스타인 씨가 바로 그림들을 소개한다. 캐나다 자연과 샤를르브아 지방의 고유한 풍경을 그린 그림들이 전시돼 있다. “이 그림은 이곳 샤를르브아 지역을 그렸습니다. 전형적인 샤를르브아의 집이죠. 강하지 않으면서 색감이 풍부하고 밝습니다.” 캐나다의 자연과 풍경을 그린 그림들은 캐나다 미술에서 하나의 큰 흐름을 차지하고 있다. 이런 전통은 예술은 그 나라의 대지 속에서 자라고 꽃피워야 한다고 주창한 7인의 화가들의 운동에 뿌리를 두고 있다. 현재의 미술관이 자신의 집이었던 르네 리사는 이들과 함께 캐나다 미술의 새로운 전통을 세우고자 했던 화가였다. “르네 리샤의 스튜디오입니다.” 미술관을 운영하고 있는 스타인씨는 르네 리샤의 스튜디오를 소개했다. 이곳에서 7인의 화가들과 함께 르네 리샤는 캐나다 미술의 미래를 얘기하고 그림을 그렸다고 한다. 스튜디오에 있는 그의 그림들은 샤를르브와 지역의 자연과 삶의 모습을 잘 드러내고 있다. 스타인씨는 미술관 뒤뜰의 풍경이 아름답다며 안내했다. 세인트로렌스 강으로 흘러드는 개울과 마을이 어우러져 한 폭의 그림을 만들어낸다. 여행은 역시 만남이다. 고령에도 불구하고 예술에 대한 열정을 지니고 살아가는 스타인씨의 모습이 참 아름다워 보였다.

Welcome to our introduction to Vankleek Hill, a community of 1800 in Ontario. We are the midway point between Montreal and Ottawa. Our community sits north of Highway 417, at the crossroads of Highway 34 and County Road 10, in the United Counties of Prescott-Russell. We are known as the Gingerbread Capital of Canada. You will see fine examples of our red brick and Victorian gingerbread, and hear stories about our early years.
