Camping at Bruneau Sand Dunes | Everything You Need to Know Before Visiting
We realize it's only March... but we couldn't wait to get started on our summer family adventures! (Plus Josh was a little excited to test out his new DJI Mavic Pro Drone.) Bruneau Dunes State Park is 15 miles from Mountain Home, Idaho and about an hour drive from Boise. The state park is the site of North America's highest single-structured sand dune which is approximately 470 feet high. The park encompasses 4,800 acres and features the Bruneau Dunes Observatory, where visitors can use a telescope for stargazing. If you choose to camp, there are 3 campgrounds to choose from with two cabins that available for rent, 82 serviced with water/electricity, and 35 standard sites. We tent camped in the Broken Wheel Campsite (you can reserve online through the Idaho State Parks website.) There are also first come first serve campsites available in the equestrian loop. You can even bring your canoe to cross the lake like we did, if you don't mind navigating through some overgrown brush. As you'll see - our canoe ride was quite entertaining!
In this video, we share everything you need to know about visiting Bruneau Sand Dunes, including aerial shot of the dunes and lakes. We also give a tour of the campsite and give some fun meal ideas for camping! (Currently working on some tutorials for those... they were DELICIOUS!)
Have questions? Don't hesitate to ask!
Happy Adventuring,

Road Ready Campground Reviews, Bruneau Dunes State Park, Bruneau Idaho. On our way west, we stopped at Bruneau Dunes State Park near Mountain Home Idaho. It was a recommendation from some YouTube Friends Faith Takes Flight. It was a great place with a few bumps. We did have fun though.

Sand Boarding | Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho)
Bruneau Dunes State Park in South West Idaho is the tallest single-structured sand dune in North America, rising 470 feet high above the small lakes below. What should you do with such a tall hill of sand? Race down it of course! This dune has been a popular spot for sand sledding, but now you can rent special sand boards and sand sleds at the park to race your buddies with. The park makes for a great day trip from Boise being only around an hour away. Or stay the night in the well managed campground or RV park and stargaze at the observatory! There’s also fishing, hiking and nature walks in the park, but really the thing to do at Bruneau Dunes is sand boarding! Old man Chad didn’t have the balance for a board so he opted for the sled while I opted for the young man’s device. Who will win in our race for bragging rights around the office, Chad and his sled or Jon with his board!

Day trip to the Bruneau Sand Dunes
The family and I took a drive out to the Bruneau Sand Dunes State Park in Idaho.
Bruneau Sand Dunes - Bruneau, Idaho
This was our first visit to the Bruneau Sand Dunes. The sand dunes are located in Bruneau, Idaho which is around 75 minutes from Boise. Not a bad drive out there from Boise but it was extremely windy when we got there so I did mute the audio due to that. Hope you enjoy! Comment below if you been to these sand dunes or if you are looking forward to visiting them.

A land of striking contrast. And it can always be found right here when you need to get away. Blue lakes, willows, and desert all framed by the tallest single-structured sand dune in North America. Another unique part of the state that is always near-by when you want it is Farm Bureau Insurance, providing service and reliability for over 60 years.

Hiking the Bruneau Sand Dunes in Idaho
In today's video, we decide to go on a short hike in Bruneau Dunes State Park but then once out there we decide to go for the whole enchilada and hike the big dune. It was a difficult hike and it got very hot but it was absolutely gorgeous and we had a great sense of accomplishment! We will probably never do the hike again but we are very glad we did it this time. Amazing!

Bruneau Sand Dunes, Idaho
Took one day trip to Bruneau Dunes! I was surprised to see the amount of people up there. There are several RV camping grounds and they all looked completely packed. There isn't a lot to see other than the sand, sage brush and a pond! Awesome place for a day trip. Great location for photography! Drove by a professional group of female models on the way to the highest peak. Prefer not to go into more details! Anyways, amazing spot. Worth a trip!
