Encompas / Floorwarming UK - Carlisle United Undersoil Heating Installation
Local businesses join together to help Carlisle United
The heat was really on for Floorwarming UK when the Cumbria-based firm were handed the prestigious contract to install undersoil pipes beneath Carlisle United's new pitch.
Not only did the project have to be done while the pitch was being relayed, but over 24 miles of special piping had to be manufactured and transported from Italy in time for the work to start.
Using the kind of teamwork that Blues boss Paul Simpson would be proud of, Floorwarming UK joined forces with Story Construction and Eddie Stobart Ltd to ensure the tight schedule was met.
Floorwarming UK managing director Richard Dixon said: Relaying the pitch gave us a rare opportunity to install undersoil heating at Brunton Park, but we only had a window of a couple of days to get the work done.
With Story Construction working flat out on the pitch, we came to an arrangement with Eddie Stobart Ltd to send one of their lorries down to northern Italy to pick up the specially-made piping.
It's been a case of three local firms pulling together to ensure that Carlisle United have the best pitch in the division when they play in Coca Cola League One next season.
Story Construction are the main contractor responsible for the groundworks and managing the laying of the new pitch.
Managing director Fred Story, who is also chairman of Carlisle United, said: I'm delighted to see such support from our local business community. After a couple of phone calls we're getting undersoil piping which will be a real benefit to the club, and at a fraction of the cost, and they are been specially delivered from Italy so that our timescales don't slip. Our guys on site are working flat out to get this project completed in record time.

Carlisle Casuals 0 Stanwix Mathia 3 - Brunton Park 2019 - The Goals
Carlisle Casuals 0 Stanwix Mathia 3
Two teams that normally play in the soccer 7s decided it was time for some action on the BIG pitch, So where better and bigger than Brunton Park. The hallowed turf of Carlisle United.
The crowds certainly turned out for this one, before the game got going Carlisle Casuals management who are massive Carlisle United fans themselves Ross Mattinson and Craig Mattinson gave their players some final pre match notes on the opposition. Not sure what secrets they passed over, but not sure their inside information paid of for this one.
The first half Casuals looked the stronger of the two teams, but just failed to make the pressure and possession they had pay off.
On the other hand Stanwix Mathia failed to really get going. In the end the half time came with neither side taking control.
A massive team talk was required from both managers at half time, but could the Mattinson management with all their Brunton Park experience give them the edge in the 2nd half. We could only wait and see.
So into the 2nd half and it was Stanwix who came out looking the much stronger team and it wasn't long before they were ahead. a great move down the left maybe a question of a dubious offside, but the referee let the game play on and the move ended with a great cross to Johnny Westgarth who made no mistake firing past the helpless keeper Lee Tedford, who seemed to do some sort of break dance move as the ball went in, before blowing a fuse with the referee about what he thought was an offside the he had missed. 1-0
Soon after Stanwix were 2 up, this time a great move ended with keeper Tedford in no mans land, he looked as if he was looking to hitch a ride out of there with his hand waving for a cab, but Will Clarke unfazed by the waving hit a great shot that flew in to give his side a commanding 2-0 lead. By now Carlisle Casuals looked beaten and needed some inspiration, so with 15 minutes left drastic action was needed. So a quick change of clothing and manager Ross Mattinson was about to dish out the hair dryer treatment not from the sidelines, but on the pitch as he received the biggest cheer of the night from his fans. What a following. As the game entered the final 10 minutes, even the Mattinson presence on the field couldn't motivate his team enough as they went 3 down. This time conceding a soft penalty, could Tedford stop the rot ?, that's was the big question. Well we soon had the answer as Arda Ozerin stepped up and added to Tedford's misery, the legs were everywhere as the ball somehow slipped through into the net. 3-0.
I wouldn't want to be them players in the dressing room after this game. Or was the Mattinson & Mattinson tinkering at half time just too much. The crowd certainly enjoyed the game and seen a few goals. Bet they can't wait for the return leg.
Well done to the HCC boys who eat manager their Lee Tedford out of house and home before coming down to help out as ball boys, just unfortunate their manager had such and off day and can't bore them for the next month with how well he did on the big stage at Brunton Park.. Maybe time for the boots to be fired in the skip i'm afraid...
Well done to everyone who helped put this event on, really enjoyed the evening. See you all again for the return leg, Can't wait.. ????
