A Walk through one of Mother Natures most successful ventures
Bryce Canyon National Park, UT
Today we drove further west from Zion National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park. After going thru the unbelievable parks of Yosemite and Zion, I could only wonder how Bryce could top those -- but it did!!
We stayed at a campground just outside the park boundary, but the free shuttle bus stopped at the campground which made it very convenient.
We went to every stop on the shuttle, and then did multiple major hikes in our 2.5 day visit! I can honestly tell you that I was blown away at the breathtaking scenery! The bright orange colored towering peaks (called HooDoo's) were almost too spectacular to believe! When viewed from the rim they were spectacular, but when viewed during our hikes from below, it was if you were on another planet!!

Bryce Canyon / Grand Canyon National Park (Winter)
Bryce Canyon National Park is a national park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. Contained within the park is Bryce Canyon. Despite its name, this is not actually a canyon, but rather a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological structures, called hoodoos, formed from wind, water, and ice erosion of the river and lakebed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views to visitors. Bryce is at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).
The Bryce area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon became a U.S. National Monument in 1923 and was designated as a national park in 1928. The park covers 56 square miles (145 km2) and receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion Canyon and the Grand Canyon, largely due to its remote location. The town of Kanab, Utah, is situated at a central point between these three parks.

S1:E8 - Explore Utah by RV (Bryce Canyon to Little Wild Horse Canyon)
We definitely didn’t fit in in Moab… literally! The town is perhaps the outdoor exploration capitol of Utah. Situated near both Arches and Canyonlands National Park, the small town attracts crowds of visitors ranging from family camping excursions to hiking, biking and climbing enthusiasts. You should plan to go… just not when it is so crowded you can’t even find land on which to boondock!

In this episode we find ourselves briefly exploring our third Utah National Park, Capitol Reef. Like the others before it, our stay is cut short by the fact that we have to leave our pup Everest in the camper if we want to explore. It is too hot already, only in early May. But we find that we can see enough of the spectacular beauty of the park by staying on the paved roads that run through the park.
Yet again seeking our own adventure we make a long drive out to Goblin Valley State Park to dry camp. We were searching for another slot canyon a little off the beaten path to explore. Camping in the state park, we woke early and drove a few miles to explore Little Wild Horse canyon. One of the more popular canyons, we found ourselves the first to explore the canyon and, at times, felt as though we were the only ones on the planet.
After exploring Little Wild Horse Canyon we again journey north and east toward Arches National Park. Unlike the other parks, which had campgrounds that were completely full, we lucked into the last campsite in the park! This called for an early, 4 am, wake-up so that we could view the Milky Way Galaxy before hiking out to the famous Delicate Arch for sunrise. It was a long day, and we struggled to find camping anywhere within 20 miles of Moab.
