Buachaille Etive Mor - Stob Dearg
Buachaille Etive Mòr (Scottish Gaelic: Buachaille Eite Mòr, meaning the great herdsman of Etive), generally known to climbers simply as The Buachaille, is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. Its pyramidal form, as seen from the A82 road when travelling towards Glen Coe, makes it one of the most recognisable mountains in Scotland, and one of the most depicted on postcards and calendars.
Buachaille Etive Mòr takes the form of a ridge nearly five miles (8 km) in length, almost entirely encircled by the River Etive and its tributaries. The ridge contains four principal tops: from north-east to south-west these are Stob Dearg (1022 m), Stob na Doire (1011 m), Stob Coire Altruim (941 m) and Stob na Bròige (956 m). Stob Dearg and Stob na Bròige are both Munros; the latter was promoted to Munro status by the Scottish Mountaineering Club in 1997
The steep, craggy north-eastern face of Stob Dearg forms the classic aspect of the mountain as seen from the Kings House Hotel, and constitutes the most direct route of ascent for climbers and scramblers. Crowberry Ridge, a classic rock climb graded severe, was first climbed direct – and photographed – in 1900 by the Abraham brothers with Messrs Puttrell and Baker. Immediately to the left is Curved Ridge, one of the most famous scrambling routes.
Alternatively there is a somewhat eroded path leading steeply up the Coire na Tulaich which, in summer conditions, allows walkers to ascend the peaks, reaching the ridge about half a kilometre west of Stob Dearg.
Buachaille Etive Mòr is separated from its sister mountain of Buachaille Etive Beag to the west by the valley of Lairig Gartain. To the east lies Glen Etive, which provides an alternative route of ascent, heading up steep grassy slopes to the summit of Stob na Bròige. Another route follows the Allt Coire Altruim from the Lairig Gartain, reaching the ridge about two thirds of the way along from the north. This route is often used as descent route in conjunction with an ascent via Coire na Tulaich, forming a circular route with a walk out along the Lairig Gartain.
On 24 January 2009, three mountain climbers were killed and one was seriously injured in an avalanche disaster.

Drive through Ballachulish - Glencoe, Scotland ????????????????????????????
Glencoe is a village in western Scotland. It lies in steep-sided Glencoe valley, in the Scottish Highlands. The area is known for waterfalls and trails that climb peaks such as Buachaille Etive Mor and Bidean nam Bian. In the village, Glencoe Folk Museum occupies 18th-century thatched cottages, with displays on local heritage and the Glencoe massacre of 1692. Wildlife in the area includes red deer and golden eagles.

Driving Along Glen Etive in Scotland
Driving across Scotland during a four days trip. Scenes were shot while driving along Glen Etive. Our intent was to simply see the place where a scene from James Bond's Skyfall was filmed but we ended-up driving right to Loch Etive.

Glen Coe Scotland Day Trip - Climbing Buachaille Etive Mòr Clear Summer Day - Scottish Mountains
This footage is from a family day trip to Clen Coe during the summer of 2013. We drove up the A82 and then climbed Buachaille Etive Mòr (the big snowy pyramid shaped mountain you see from the road). It was a perfect clear sunny day so the views from the top were amazing!
Please excuse my shaky camera work. It was a family day trip and all shot without the use of a tripod. Documenting the day was just a bit of an afterthought. Trying to keep a camera steady in a moving vehicle and while zooming in at these distances is definitely challenging! I also had to battle with the wind to stay steady on my feet as it was pretty gusty up there.

Scotland - A82 Glen Coe
The A82 road through Glen Coe, Scotland
Christmas Day Drive A82 Road Glencoe Scottish Highlands Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of part of a Christmas Day drive on the A82 road to Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. Two of the three Highlander films starring Christopher Lambert were filmed here. The opening battle scene near the beginning of the film takes place between the mountains of Buchaille Etive Mor and Buchaille Etive Beag, at the entrance to the Glen. This Highlands location featured in Skyfall the James Bond movie, and Harry Potter films mainly because it is the most famous Scottish glen and one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. The A82 runs from Glasgow to Fort William and Inverness, passing along the shores of Loch Lomond and Loch Ness and in the shadow of Ben Nevis along the way. It is probably the most important trunk route serving the West Highlands of Scotland, and along its route uses pieces of road first built in the 1750s. Glencoe was the scence of one of the most infamous massacres in Scottish history
