Many of the arcades in the UK (Mainly seaside arcades) are called Amusement Arcades. They are typically packed with redemption-based machines with very few video games (As video games simply do not make money). I have placed the word Amusements in the title for these types of places as they are not true Video Game Arcades, but deserve some sort of mention. As gambling is legal in the UK, they tend to include fruit machines (aka slot machines) and various other things money-making games, so video games really take a back seat in places like these. They also really hate filming, I'm not sure why because it's free advertising, unless dodgy things are taking place lol
An amusement arcade (often referred to as video arcade or simply arcade) is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

Video Game Arcade Tours - Crystal Palace Amusements (Hemsby, UK)
Dance Dance Revolution X with a Fast and Furious cabinet, hidden in the back of a full-on redemption pit. The video game arcade scene in Hemsby is simply awful! It's redemption everywhere! You might as well call it a casino for kids. The Dance Dance Revolution X cabinet had a stuck right arrow on player 1, so we couldn't play half of that either. So disappointing!

Video Game Arcade Tours - Carousel Amusements (Hemsby, UK)
Not a bad little arcade. It is inside Bermuda Holiday Park in Hemsby. The machines are quite old, but at least there is a good selection and it's not a total redemption fest. They have mini bowling, pool, air hockey, drivers, Dancing Stage Euromix 1 and more. It's pretty cool. Hemsby is the worst place in Norfolk for video games, 95% of the arcades focus heavily on redemption, so Carousel Amusements wins this one from us!

Video Game Arcade Tours - Manning's Amusement Park (Felixstowe, UK)
I was pleasantly surprised by this arcade to be honest. They have invested in newer games (Luigi's Mansion for example), while using large amounts of floor space on Bowlingo (mini bowling) and Cody's Cabin (Mechanical shooter).
Their music games consist of Percussion Master and Dancing Stage Euromix 1. Haven't seen a Percussion Master since Trocadero closed their upstairs area in London a few years back. Dancing Stage Euromix 1 is better than no dance game by a long shot, but it would be nice to see something with more than 16 songs, like Dance Dance Revolution Extreme which has 240 songs, or even Euromix 2 at a pinch!
That being said, lots of video games and they haven't sold out on redemption. Felixstowe has good arcades and knows the value of a video game!

Video Game Arcade Tours - Caesars Amusements (Hemsby, UK)
They have a statue of Julius Caesar outside and the arcade looks big, so it's quite promising! When you get inside, there is a Mario Kart machine and endless redemption. It wasn't a great experience. Every arcade in Hemsby is sold on hardcore redemption. No variety. No fun.

They have a Dance Dance Revolution X cabinet, which is pretty cool.... But otherwise, it's a large redemption fest!

Large boardwalk arcade with small kids' rides, bingo, concessions & many coin-operated games.
