Peștera Ialomiței - Ialomita Cave Monastery, is located in Bucegi Mountains, Romania, June 2017(2)
In Moroeni, Dambovita County, Ialomita River Valley, in the Bucegi Mountains in Romania, we find a place of worship linked to a ruler with a tumultuous history. At the beginning of the 16th century, ruler Mihnea the Evil built a wooden church in the mouth of the cave, from which it will be named the Monastery of Ialomita Cave. The story of the hermitage is as hard as the story of the one who raised it, Mihnea, and the beauty of the places is delightful.
The Altar Point would have been traditionally used by some ancient Sihas in order to service the divine service. Stalactites are arranged in such a way that they create the illusion of a church altar. Also, here flows the cave called The Spring of Living Water, which is said to be the holy water of the Dacians. The water has absolute purity, it is perfectly drinkable and completely lipid from residues or minerals. Geologists assume that the aperture passes through several natural limestone and clay filters, then silver deposits that all together create an absolute natural filter and bring the water of absolute purity to the cave.
The mouth of the cave, in the form of a semi-pebble, opens on a horizontal terrace, which is 18 m above the bottom of the valley. Just at the entrance to the Cave there is the Ialomiţa Monastery, built in the 16th century, founded by the prince of Walachia, Mihnea cel Rău.
Mihnea Rău is the son of Vlad Ţepeş. He reigned a little between 1508 and 1509.
