Lucerne, Swiss Postcard Territory For Watch Purchasing
For this summer time period, we decided to bring you a special Swiss postcard video from one of the nicest touristic destination, Lucerne. This little town has become a very special watch-purchasing destination over the years with scores of tourists coming to visit this beautiful region from all over the world.
Lucerne is found in the very center of Switzerland and with the lake and surrounding mountains, it makes this small medieval town one the most visited place as tourist can enjoy various activities during the same day. It’s like an attraction park, but everything is real!
So with these numbers of tourists coming in, it was only logical that watch brands would find their way in and the number of boutiques has just bloomed over the last 5-10 years. Historically, Lucerne has been the home of a very famous mutlibrand retailer, Bucherer, but now all major brands have invested in the city with their own stores. Nonetheless, Les Ambassadeurs, one of the last serious multibrand store in Switzerland have just recently opened a large boutique there too, but with the goal of reaching out more to the local population. So many different retailing strategies found in Lucerne and with the slight downturn of tourism partly due to all the uncertainties of this world, we will see what will happen there in some years to come.

The Rolling Ball Clock at Bucherer in Lucerne has been officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest of its kind. The installation extends to all four floors in the Bucherer store and was build by Sinnwerkstatt GmbH (CH) along with Mark Bischof (NL).
The installation is 11.6 m (38 ft) high and 6 m (almost 20 ft) wide. In the entire system, 150 crystal balls measuring 30, 40 and 150 mm (1.2, 1.6 and 5.9 in) run along 297.8 m (977 ft) of track.

The World's Largest Rolling Ball clock at Bucherer ( Rolex), Swiss by Ayal Perera
Lucerne has another world-class attraction. Bucherer presents the world's largest indoor rolling ball clock. Customers and visitors can view the unique kinetic sculpture at the newly renovated store on Schwanenplatz. The clock towers up a full four stories and each floor provides an unusual new insight into a fascinating world of precision, movement and energy.
The astonishing installation extends upwards to take in all four floors of the store and is 11.6 meters in height and 6 meters wide. Inside the entire system there are 150 crystal spheres of 30, 40 and 150 millimeters in diameter moving through 297.8 meters of track. The sheer dimension of the project prompted the artists behind it to apply for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
