A tour of Buckinghamshire Railway Centre (Quainton Road) incl. Routemaster Gathering
The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is a railway museum situated at and in the grounds surrounding the former Metropolitan Railway's Quainton Road Railway Station. The station was one of the furthest outposts of the pre 1933 Metropolitan Railway company and was the junction of the Brill Tramway (of which one of the remaining platform retains the curve) and also the line to the ultimate station on the Met at Verney Junction (which it ceased serving in 1936). Prior to 1966 the Great Central Main Line continued northwards towards Rugby & Nottingham. The museum has an extensive collection of locomotives, rolling stock and other railway and London Underground paraphernalia and also hosts resited buildings such as the rebuilt Oxford Rewley Road Station and a Wembley Park maintenance shed. On the day of filming the annual Routemaster gathering was also being held at the forecourt of the museum.

The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is a railway museum at Quainton Road railway station, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. There are demonstration lines and various workshop buildings as well as the museum buildings.
The museum has a large and varied range of steam and diesel locomotives both operational and on static display. There are also DMUs, EMUs and a huge range of passenger and non-passenger rolling stock.

The 35th Annual Ridgeway Road Run for Historic Commercial Vehicles 2019 England
The 35th Annual Ridgeway Road Run for Historic Commercial Vehicles starts in Henley and finishes at Buckinghamshire Railway Centre on Father's Day - Sunday 16th June 2019 - arriving here around 11am, in time for you to admire them all!
Organised by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society (South Midlands area), we are pleased to welcome members together with their commercial vehicles in this popular rally.
Up to 60 historic vehicles will be on display, arriving from about 11:00am. Steam trains will be running offering unlimited free rides, and the miniature ride-on steam trains will be running too with rides for £1 per person.

There will be a prize draw on the day, and the winner will have a footplate ride on a steam engine later in the afternoon!
The Cafe and Gift Shop will also be open inside our visitor centre, and the exhibition hall will also be open with lots to see and learn about.

Buckinghamshire Railway Centre '50th Anniversary Weekend' Sunday 25th August 2019
Quainton Road station near Aylesbury has been home to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for the past fifty years and to celebrate, their held the event over the August Bank Holiday of the 25th - 26th 2019.
The event hosted no-less than four steam locomotives in action on both yards hauling passenger & freight as well a shuttle working was diesel hauled to & from London Marylebone.

Buckinghamshire Railway Centre - 50th Anniversary Gala August 2019
The 50th Anniversary gala celebrations at Quainton Road, the first time Wightwick Hall 6989 and Metropolitan No 1 have run together at the centre since 6989 restoration completion. Also running is Hudswell Clarke Millom and Bagnall 2469. There was also an appearance of the LT Rail Tour. On display was Hawthorn Leslie 3718 and Andrew Barclay Swanscombe which was not running today. Beattie Well Tank 30585 and North British Coventry No 1 were also on display, however they are in the queue for overall as their boiler tickets have expired.

A second railway visit for me in 2013, which funnily enough was to see the exact same Locomotive! I travelled to Buckinghamshire Railway Centre to see Metropolitan No1 running with an Ex Metropolitan Railway Dreadnought coach, courtesy of Vintage Trains and the KWVR. In service:

Unfortunately, Peckett 2087 was due to run as well but from a conversation I overheard, her fire wouldn't raise enough pounds of pressure to run, so it was left to only Met No1.

hi i spend a lot of time making these small films of when the days were a lot different. most of the photos are from old books or old post cards. i love doing this to show you how life was way back then. some people can not buy books or find things to do with local history so this is why i have done this for all of you.
i do not do this to make money in any way, it is just for free so i do hope you all like the small films i do as it takes a long time to do. i did use to live in SW London but now moved to bucks where i find this is much better for me and my family.

Cab ride: freight-only Aylesbury to Bicester via Quainton Rd & Calvert
On Sunday 10th June, a team of Chiltern Railways, Branch Line Society and Royal British Legion staff organised a fundraising special excursion over the now freight-only part of the old Great Central Railway (and Metropolitan Railway) route from Aylesbury to Quainton Road. The train then ran on to Calvert, Claydon Junction and reversed to Bicester. I was allowed to film this from the cab with this stop-frame animation. This was probably the last time this will happen for several years, as the line to Bicester is being taken up and replaced as part of the East-West railway.
It's a nice piece - finishing off the Metropolitan Railway camera view that was done in 1910, which then terminated at Aylesbury: this continues the drivers-eye view, 108 years later, almost up to where Betjeman filmed his Metro-land end sequence in 1973. Thanks to all who made this possible, and apols for the flies on windscreen - we couldn't reach to wash them off!

The town is served by Aylesbury railway station and Aylesbury Vale Parkway railway station; the latter is terminus of passenger services of the London to Aylesbury Line from London Marylebone. Stoke Mandeville railway station also lies in the town's urban area.
Aylesbury is served by the A41 from London to Birkenhead, which becomes the M40 however at Bicester 13 miles (21 km) west (by north) of Aylesbury. The A413 and A418 roads also run through the town. Aylesbury is served by Buckinghamshire's first 'Rainbow Routes' network of bus services. The colour-coded routes were set up by Buckinghamshire County Council.
The Bourg Walk Bridge (also called the Southcourt Bridge or the Roberts Bridge after a local councillor) opened in March 2009 connecting Southcourt to Aylesbury town centre. The focus of the footbridge is a central concrete pillar with four suspension cables supporting the structure. This bridge forms a central part of the Aylesbury Hub project.
