Prescott (Yavapai: ʼWi:kwatha Ksikʼita; English pronunciation: /ˈprɛskət/ /ˈprɛskɒt/ pres-kət or pres-kot) is a city in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. According to 2010 Census, the population of the city is 39,843.[2] The city is the county seat of Yavapai County.[3] In 1864 Prescott was designated as the capital of the Arizona Territory, replacing the temporary capital at Fort Whipple.[4] The Territorial Capital was moved to Tucson in 1867. Prescott again became the Territorial Capital in 1877, until Phoenix became the capital in 1889.
The towns of Prescott Valley, 7 miles (11 km) east; Chino Valley, 16 miles (26 km) north; Dewey-Humboldt, 13 miles (21 km) east, and Prescott, together comprise what is locally known as the Quad-City area. This also sometimes refers to central Yavapai County in general, which would include the towns of: Mayer, Paulden, Wilhoit, and Williamson Valley. Combined with these smaller communities the area had a population of 103,260 as of 2007. Prescott is the center of the Prescott Metropolitan Area, defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as all of Yavapai County. In 2010 Yavapai County had 211,073 residents according to the U.S. Census Bureau, making Metro Prescott the third-largest metropolitan area in Arizona, after Phoenix (4.2 million) and Tucson (1 million). Metro Prescott will eventually become part of the Arizona Sun Corridor megaregion, with a total estimated megapolitan population of 7.4 million people in 2025.
The Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe reservation is located adjacent to and partially within the borders of Prescott.

A federal judge issued a ruling that's another win for the proposed Glendale Casino. The judge said that Arizona's gaming compact does not ban more casinos from opening in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Yavapai Community of the Fort McDowell Reservation east of the Phoenix area has fought for rights that have had nationwide implications. The effort resulted in a book Oral History of the Yavapai. Book editor Caroline Butler will talk about the book.
Armed Robbery Over the Weekend in Prescott
October 21, 2014 - NAZ Today follows up on an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend at a gas station in Prescott.
An unidentified man went into the Woody's Gas Station early Saturday demanding the clerk to give him all the money in the store. The suspect then took out a knife and handed the clerk a bag for the money. After the clerk put the money in the bag, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Police are asking for any information to help identify the missing suspect. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt with an Alpine Stars logo and black pants with light blue tennis shoes.
Any one with information is urged to contact the Prescott Police Department at 1-928-777-1920.

Camp Verde, Arizona
Camp Verde (Western Apache: Gambúdih) is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 10,610.
The town is located along the I-17 freeway, and as a result most of the local economy involves service stations, restaurants, hotels, and the like. Nearby tourist attractions include Montezuma Castle National Monument and Fort Verde State Historic Park. It is also the site of Cliff Castle Casino, operated by the Yavapai-Apache Nation Indian tribe, making it an important gambling destination for north and central Arizona. The town also host a famous corn festival each year. It is put on by Hauser and Hauser Farms, which operates in Camp Verde.
