Phutthamonthon (Thai: พุทธมณฑล, also spelled Buddha Monthon, from Sanskrit Buddha Máṇḍala, Buddha's Sphere) is a Buddhist park in the Phutthamonthon district, Nakhon Pathom Province of Thailand, west of Bangkok. It is highlighted by a 15.87 m (52 ft) high Buddha statue, by Corrado Feroci, which is considered to be the highest free-standing Buddha statue of the world.
The park was created in 1957 (which was the year 2500 in the Thai Buddhist Era) on the basis of an idea of Thailand's prime minister, Phibunsongkhram. The park covers an area of about 400 hectares, which in traditional Thai units is 2500 rai. Construction started on July 29, 1955, and the park was inaugurated on the Vaisakh Bucha day (May 13) in 1957.
After a long pause construction on the park resumed in 1976; notably, the main Buddha statue was built after that time. Already designed in 1955 by art professor Silpa Bhirasri, the statue was cast in 1981. The statue, 15.875 m high and located at the centre of the park, was given the name Phra Si Sakkaya Thotsaphonlayan Prathan Phutthamonthon Suthat (Thai: พระศรีศากยะทศพลญาณ ประธานพุทธมณฑลสุทรรศน์; literally 'the Graceful Statue of the Shakyamuni who was of the Tenfold Power, the Presiding Buddha of the Beautiful Phutthamonthon') by King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Around the statue are sites memorialising the four main stations in the life of Buddha: his birth symbolized by seven lotus flowers, his Enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, his first sermon and his death. Another important building is the marble viharn, which contains the entire Buddhist canonengraved in 1418 marble stelas.

Phra Pathommachedi or Phra Pathom Chedi(Thai: พระปฐมเจดีย์) is a stupa in Thailand. At 120.5 metres (395 ft) it is the tallest stupa in the world. The stupa is located in the Wat Phra Pathommachedi Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan(Thai: วัดพระปฐมเจดีย์ราชวรมหาวิหาร), a temple in the town center of Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.
The name Phra Pathommachedi means the first holy stupa, given by Mongkut. Originally the stupa named Phra Thom Chedi means the big stupa in ancient Khmer language or the royal stupa in Northern Thai language. One of the common misunderstandings about the stupa is Phra Pathommachedi is the oldest and the first stupa in Suvarnabhumi, an ancient name of Southeast Asia. Modern Historians believe that the stupa was one of the principal stupas of ancient Nakhon Pathom, the largest settlement of Dvaravati culture in Nakhon Pathom area together with the nearby Phra Pathonnachedi(Thai: พระประโทณเจดีย์) during the 6th to the 8th centuries.

In the Gregorian calendar this usually falls in November. Since 1974 Wat Phra Pathommachedi organized the festival in order to raise money to maintain the stupa and the temple. Normally the festival takes place for 5 days 5 nights or 9 days 9 nights, as decided by the festival committee.

The ceremony attracts thousands of worshippers. The highlight of the ceremony is a lucky draw to find a person to be a representative of all worshippers to lit light in front of the Buddha image. Someone asked me if i could not share some footages of my Thailand, so i thought it was a good idea to start this serie of videos...
All these footages could be used with some aerial footages i think but it was a good opportunity to try something else. Not sure about the success but if people enjoyed it maybe i will post more videos of my travels all around Thailand...
I am not really good with recording video with my DSLR - Nikon D3200, i am far away better with taking photos with it but i enjoyed challenges...
I am opened to any suggestion/criticism for improving, so feel free to share them...

Phutthamonthon (Buddha Monthon) Park Feeding Catfish1/4
Feeding catfish at the Phutthamonthon (Buddha Monthon) Park in Salaya, Thailand. They were literally swimming out of the water on top of other fish to get at the bread. When buying local bread to feed the fish, make sure not to eat it like I almost did, it's stale.
