6 Things To Do in Buenos Aires in 48 hours - Ski Argentina, Part 1
We spent 48 hours in Buenos Aires on our way to Barlioche to ski at Cerro Catedral. What can you do in Buenos Aires in 48 hours? Here are our suggestions:
1) Empanada Tour. Buenos Aires seems to have empanadas on every corner. We began our Argentina empanada tasting tour at Temple Palermo near our hotel, and continued throughout our trip. Stay tuned for Part 4 of the Argentina Ski VLOG to see our rankings of what we tried. In Buenos Aires, we had beef empanadas at Temple, Minga, and Don Julio, all in Palermo. We ranked them (1) Minga, (2) Don Julio (a lot of sauce in the empanada), and (3) Temple. All were good and very different - it was just a question of preference. Temple was like a hamburger patty in the empanada. Don Julio seemed to have sauce inside. Minga was just delicious, and we both got two orders.
2) Explore Argentine Shops and Street Fairs. There are quite a few street fairs in Buenos Aires, along with many unique stores that you cannot find in the U.S. or Canada. Our sample size was limited given our time constraints, but we preferred the Feria de Plaza Serrano on Calle Honduras (Serrano Plaza Fair on Honduras Street) because it was right in Palermo, which has a lot of great shopping itself.
3) Dinner at Don Julio Parrilla. A coworker who lived in Buenos Aires for six months recommended Don Julio for Argentine steak. It was a great recommendation. The decor was unique, the service was very attentive (constantly topping off water and wine), the beef was the quality of a top American steak house but about 1/4 the price. Following the Argentine peso's most recent unfortunate collapse, it would now be 1/5 the price.
4) Neighborhood Tour. We walked around Palermo on our first day, so we did a day tour with Signature Tours for most of the second day. They were great. We learned a lot about Argentine history, culture and politics. The tour was half a day.
5) Rapanui. This is an ice cream and chocolate store with only a few locations in Argentina. A great way to sample delicious sweets that you cannot find outside Argentina.
6) Tango Show. Our show, the Viejo Almacen Tango Show with optional dinner, included dinner, which was decent, but seemed to take up time. The show itself was across the street from the restaurant. We would recommend attending the show without dinner if you are in town for 48 hours. The dancers were excellent! There were also musicians who played music indigenous to the Andes.

Chorizo Hot Dogs, Pizza, & Fernet - Drunk Eats Buenos Aires
Allie Lazar hits the streets of Buenos Aires to sample some of the best late night food the city has to offer. Nights in Buenos Aires run long and late, as dinner isn’t usually served until 9pm, and the cuisine is heavily influenced by Italy and Spain. Aperitivo is essential: usually a vermouth- or fernet-based drink and a picada, the Argentine version of tapas or finger food, which is often a big board of various meats and cheeses. Allie starts her night off with a homemade Italian-Porteña meal, followed by a happy hour with various cocktails and a pizza to go. She ends her night with a typical Argentine street food: choripán, a chorizo hot dog.

What to do in BUENOS AIRES. Best City in South America? Travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina ????????
What should you do in Buenos Aires, Argentina? Well we visit Buenos Aires for the first time and found some absolutely amazing things to do in the city!
We start things off in the Japanese Gardens (Jardín Japonés)! These gardens are quiet and idyllic and feel like an oasis in the middle of the city, they also happen to be the largest gardens of their type outside of Japan.
Next up was a very famous place in Buenos Aires and must-do while in the city- La Recoleta Cemetery. This is considered one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world and contains the graves of some of the most famous and notable people in Argentinian history.
After this we headed to another super notable place in Recoleta, a very famous bookstore called El Ateneo Grand Splendid. Just like the cemetery, it is considered one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world- mainly because it’s situated in a former opera house. You can still see where the stage (now a coffee shop), and opera boxes were.
Lastly we head back to the area we stayed in called Palermo Hollywood to grab some drinks and food. Buenos Aires is full of interesting and diverse restaurants, not just asado which you might expect- but also loads of international foods. We found a place called KOI Beer and Dumplings where we had both beer and delicious dumplings.
ABOUT BUENOS AIRES
Buenos Aires is Argentina’s big, cosmopolitan capital city. Its center is the Plaza de Mayo, lined with stately 19th-century buildings including Casa Rosada, the iconic, balconied presidential palace. Other major attractions include Teatro Colón, a grand 1908 opera house with nearly 2,500 seats, and the modern MALBA museum, displaying Latin American art.

Our Favorite Argentinian Food in Buenos Aires at Parrilla Peña Steakhouse Travel Video Transcript:
So I know we always say we're excited about this meal but today it is extra special because we're bringing you to our favorite restaurant in all of Buenos Aires. This is a steakhouse. It is a Parrilla. That means they cook all of their meat on the grill. And it is seriously the best meat we've tried in the city. And we've ordered our favorite cut - Bife de Lomo. It is going to be amazing. We're waiting for that to show up.
So it wouldn't be a proper meal without a little bit of Vino Tinto. Yes, this is the house wine and it is actually very good for house wine. So anyways, what makes this our favorite restaurant in Buenos Aires. Well, you know traditional Argentine food is steak. And it is called Parrilla or Asado.
And this is the reason we came here. The star of the meal has arrived. The star of the meal. Bife de lomo. Look at this piece of beauty on my fork.
That is some of the most tender meat I've ever had in my entire life. You bite into it and it just disintegrates, it just melts right into your mouth. And it is so juicy and flavorful. It is just fantastic. This is the tenderloin in English. It is the best. And you know what makes this restaurant awesome. You know how you can tell you're in a really good steakhouse. They don't ask you how you want your steak. They don't say do you want it rare, do you want it medium rare, do you want it well done? No, they just make it the house way and they know what they're doing. So you get the best most optimal steak possible.
So it is now my turn. And I like to put Chimichurri on my steak.
Okay, so Sam what do you think sets Argentinian steak apart from steak in any other country. Well, Argentine steak has a reputation for being world class. It is considered one of the best steaks in the world and you know what I totally agree with that. What really sets it apart is they don't try to mask the steak with tonnes of barbecue sauce. Like if you look down here you can see. I don't know if you can see this but there is just a little bit of salt on top. What the real focus is is on grilling. Grilling it to perfection. Using the right temperature, cooking it for the right amount of time so it is a little bit crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They have just got that down to perfection. Argentine steak is just world class. There is no other way to describe it. Yeah, take that Brazil.
Okay, so we've been stuffing ourselves for close to an hour. It is time to go home. So let's do price point. Okay, so in terms of price point we're going to focus on which is basically the nicest cut of meat in the house. That entire cut of meat was 270 Pesos which was about $18 US dollars. And that was for both of us. So when you think about that kind of value you're getting $9 per person and you're eating like some of the best steak of your entire life. So incredible value and again this is just the kind of place. Like I can't recommend it enough. I would call it a neighborhood parrilla. A neighborhood steakhouse. It is the kind of place that you go into and you see mostly locals are eating at. And when you see locals eating at a restaurant like this you know it is high quality because they are going to demand it. They're not going to come back if the food is not good. You can rip off a tourist but you're not going to rip off a local. And that is all I've got to say. Come here. Goodbye.
This is part of our Travel in Argentina series focusing on Argentine foods and Argentine cuisine.

BEST BURGERS in Buenos Aires, with CHURROS dessert! One month in Buenos Aires, Argentina
We have heard great things about burgers in Argentina, and we absolutely love Argentinian food. So, today here in Buenos Aires we check out a highly recommended burger place called Burger Joint in Palermo Soho (thanks Ant!) where we try the two spiciest burgers. We're here for a month trying to do all the best things to do in Buenos Aires and this definitely was one of the yummier experiences!
We also always wanted to try churros here in South America (surely this is the first of many churro sessions!), so we go and have some churros at Juan Pedro Caballero Churreria. What an awesome little store. The churros were a total hit (even though one of them we couldn't quite figure out!!).
Who are we?
We are Tom and Yenny, two New Zealand young professionals who have quit our job and are learning Spanish as we travel through South America! We always like to travel on a budget so please subscribe to see all the places we go and all of our stingy ways of going there! We love doing our travel vlog as it's an easy way for us to keep track of our travels!
We love cooking, checking out new places, trying new types of food, beer and wine, camping, and anything else that we haven't tried (outrageous weird foods included!).
Where are we going?
We're travelling throughout every South American country that speaks Spanish and (if we have money left!) heading up to Central America too!
We would LOVE to hear from you about your experiences in South America, your travel experiences or any other tips or thoughts! Please make sure to comment if you've got anything you think we should do while we're here.

The Best Steaks in Buenos Aires, Argentina (feat. Samuel & Audrey)
Together with Sam & Audrey we were searching for the best Steak in Buenos Aires and we found it - here are our 2 favorite restaurants!
My guide for Buenos Aires:
Make sure to watch the second part on the channel of Samuel & Audrey:
Steak is an important part of the Argentine culture as the country is famous for its good beef. A visit to a Parilla is one of the MUST DO's when you are visiting the country. Especially in Buenos Aires you can find many good places to enjoy some good Bife de Chorizo or Lomo.
This is why we were searching for a place where the food is delicious but not too pricey. Before we filmed this episode we tried out several restaurants and steak houses (Parillas) in the capital of Argentina. At the end we went to my favorite place in Palermo and to Sam & Audres's favorite spot in Recoleta.
It was so much fun doing this collab with Sam & Audrey and Kristin. Go and checkout their channels, subscribe and watch their travel videos - those guys are all very inspiring travelers!
