Megalithic Malta 2
An updated tour of the unique and mysterious prehistoric megalithic temple sites of Malta and Gozo - the oldest man-made free-standing constructions on Earth. I felt compelled to re-make and enhance this video because Google Earth has improved the definition of the Maltese islands so much, especially in Gozo, allowing me to add a few more temple sites. This video now visits a total of eighteen sites, five in Gozo and thirteen in Malta: Ggantija, Xaghra Stone Circle, Santa Verna, Ta' Marziena, Borg l-Imramma, Bugibba, Tal-Qadi, Skorba, Ta' Hagrat, Qortin l-Imdawwar (Kuncizzjoni/Bahrija), Mnajdra, Hagar Qim, Kordin III, Hal-Saflieni Hypogeum, Tarxien, Xrobb l-Ghagin, Tas-Silg and Borg in-Nadur.
Audio content had to be replaced using Audioswap because of a copyright claim on 2112 extracts by Rush in the former soundtrack.
Hypogeum & Valletta, Malta
Our first official day in Malta, we booked 9am tickets (booked way head of time) for a visit to the Hypogeum. It was not very difficult to find with our GPS and rental car, but if you take a bus I cannot say.
The tour lasted approximately 1 hour or so, and was worth it. Only 80 people allowed per day in groups of 10, per hour, so make sure to book appropriately.
From there we walk around the town square nearby but there wasn't much to see.
We then drove to Valletta, where we spent several hours walking around and even heading up to the Upper Barracca Gardens for the battery salute which happens at 12:00 and 4:00pm (16:00).
It's free but get there early enough to get a nice view, otherwise it's difficult to see through the people.
Ħaġar Qim Temple, Malta
Ħaġar Qim is a megalithic temple complex found on the island of Malta, dating from the Ġgantija phase (3600-3200 BC). The Megalithic Temples of Malta are among the most ancient religious sites and the oldest free standing man made structures on the Earth today , described by the World Heritage Sites committee as unique architectural masterpieces. in 1992 UNESCO recognized Ħaġar Qim and four other Maltese megalithic structures as World Heritage Sites. V. Gordon Childe, Professor of Prehistoric European Archeology and director of the Institute of Archaeology in the University of London from 1946-1957 visited Ħaġar Qim. He wrote, I have been visiting the prehistoric ruins all round the Mediterranean, from Mesopotamia to Egypt, Greece and Switzerland, but I have nowhere seen a place as old as this one.
Ħaġar Qim's builders used globigerina limestone in the temple's construction. As a result of this, the temple has suffered from severe weathering and surface flaking over the millennia. In 2009 work was completed on a protective tent.
The megalithic complex of Ħaġar Qim is located on the southern edge of the island of Malta, on a ridge capped in soft globigerina limestone. All exposed rock on the island was deposited during the Oligocene and Miocene periods of geological time. Globigerina limestone is the second oldest rock on Malta, outcropping over approximately 70% of the area of the islands. The builders used this stone throughout the temple architecture.
No burials exist in the temple or the area surrounding Ħaġar Qim, nor have any human bones been discovered in Maltese temples. Bones of numerous sacrificial animals have been found. It is theorized that the Ħaġar Qim complex was built in three stages, beginning with the 'Old Temple' northern apses, followed by the 'New Temple', and finally the completion of the entire structure.]
The Ħaġar Qim complex consists of a main temple and three additional megalithic structures beside it.[ The main temple was built between 3600 and 3200 BC; however, the northern ruins are considerably older.

MALTA: Birżebbuġa, Pretty Bay, Borġ in-Nadur Temple, Marsascala, St Thomas Bay
Birzebbuga is a fishing village on the south of Malta. It has a modern church and adorned with beautiful seaside areas. Here we find the Freeport which is one of the main industries in Malta and many containers pass through this port. We find some historic sites and buildings, amongst which the old St George's Church and the remains of the prehistoric temple of Borg in-Nadur.
St George's Church (1575, reopened in 1683). In the earth nearby are traces of prehistoric cart ruts.
Borg-in-Nadur Prehistoic Temple ruins not only reveal 4-apse temple (c.2500-2000 BC ) but also a fortified, Bronze Age domestic settlement. The settlement was fortified with megalithic wall facing inland. The remains of a large, defensive wall lie nearby, running across the head of a promontory between two valleys leading down to two bays.
Pretty Bay: This is a man made beach which has become a popular spot for many Maltese.
Traces of Bronze Age huts and other materials were discovered lying just behind the wall.
Marsascala or Wied il-Ghajn:
Marsascala is a modest sea-side village in Malta that has grown up around the small harbour at the head of Marsascala Bay, a long narrow inlet also known as Marsaskala Creek. The bay is sheltered to the north by Ras iż-Żonqor, the south-east corner of Malta, and to the south by the headland of Ras il-Gżira.
The Razzett tal-Hbiberija is a charity organization which cares for people with special needs. Their grounds include a zoo using the animals as therapy for children. They also have a swimming pool used as a hydroptherapy and other facilities. Every Sunday a flea market is held and to help support the organization.

Best of MALTA - Valletta, Sliema, Gozo Island, Popeye Village | Мальта обзор
Malta, officially known as the Republic of Malta, is a Southern European island country consisting of an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. It lies 80 km south of Italy, 284 km east of Tunisia, and 333 km north of Libya. Malta is one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries, at over 316 km2 with a population of about 475,000. Its capital is Valletta, which is the smallest national capital in the European Union by area at 0.8 km.2 Its largest town is Birkirkara, while its chief economic centre is Sliema. The official languages are Maltese and English, with Maltese also recognised as the national language. Maltese is the only Semitic language to be officially recognised in the European Union. Italian is also spoken by most of the population.
Malta has been inhabited since approximately 5900 BC. Its location in the centre of the Mediterranean has historically given it great strategic importance as a naval base, with a succession of powers having contested and ruled the islands, including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Sicilians, Spanish, Knights of St. John, French, and British. Most of these foreign influences have left some sort of mark on the country's ancient culture.
Malta became a British colony in 1815, serving as a critical way station for ships and the headquarters for the British Mediterranean Fleet. It played an important role in the Allied war effort during the Second World War, and was subsequently awarded the George Cross for its bravery in the face of an Axis siege, and the George Cross appears on Malta's national flag. The British Parliament passed the Malta Independence Act in 1964, giving Malta independence from the United Kingdom as the State of Malta, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state and queen. The country became a republic in 1974. It has been a member state of the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations since independence, and joined the European Union in 2004; it became part of the eurozone monetary union in 2008.
Malta has a long Christian legacy and its Archdiocese is claimed to be an apostolic see because Paul the Apostle was shipwrecked on Melita, according to Acts of the Apostles, which is now widely taken to be Malta. Catholicism is the official religion in Malta. Article 40 of the Constitution states that all persons in Malta shall have full freedom of conscience and enjoy the free exercise of their respective mode of religious worship.
Malta is a popular tourist destination with its warm climate, numerous recreational areas, and architectural and historical monuments, including three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni, Valletta, and seven megalithic temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.

Malta Island Paradise (Malte)

Tremendous Tarxien Temples in Malta
The Tarxien Temples are an archaeological complex consisting of four megalithic structures build between 3600 and 2500 BC. This UNESCO World Heritage site is proud to have the largest collection of stone sculptures to be discovered in any of Malta’s Megalithic Temples.
Blue Grotto - Malta
The most beautiful spot in Malta with original maltese music. All the boats travelling to The Blue Grotto enter under an immense arch into a 140ft high cave cut into the rock face. The system consists of six caves carved by years of relentless pounding by the sea, of which the Blue Grotto is the largest and most impressive. The water seems an impossible cobalt colour as the sky reflects off the white sand bottom. The caves sparkle both with blue reflections of the sea and orange, purple and green of the various minerals present in the rocks.
UFO FOOTPRINT IN MALTA?
Movie trailer THE MYSTERIES OF THE CART RUTS
(original movie 22 min)
DVD / or Download movie only 20 / 10 USD:
Unique discovery. In Mediterranean Sea, about 100 km south of Sicily, there is a small country called Malta. It consists of several islands, where the biggest of these are Malta and Gozo. When the word Malta is mentioned, you recollect as the first thing the Maltese cross, or the famous Malta night clubs and discotheques. The remaining Maltese monuments are much less known.
Among them the megalithic structures, which are reportedly older than Egyptian pyramids. Very few people, however, have ever heard about Malta tracks. These are parallel trenches in hard lime stone. They resemble footprints of cart, therefore they are called Cart-Ruts. Although people live in their proximity thousands of years, no satisfactory answer exists on the question, how they have originated.
Is it some natural phenomenon or sign of human activity?
Let's make for a search for world mystery which you can see on two of the islands, Malta and Gozo.
First thing which prepossess you is the profile of the tracks. As you can see patterns of these Maltese tracks differ. Maximum depth reaches 70 centimeters, in diameter they have, however, 20 to 30 centimeters. Profile of the trench constitute on certain places a letter U, but most frequently it has shape of letter V. Length of the tracks amounts mostly few dozen meters, on some places up to 200 meters.
According to our measurements the distance of parallel trenches represents 135 to 155 centimeters. Average distance, or track width of Maltese tracks, is 141 centimeters.Standard track width in Europe is 143.5 centimeters. In the area of former Soviet Union is used wider track width, 152 centimeters. The ancient tracks on Malta have almost identical track width, as is used in Europe.
Some of them continue under the sea level, as in St. George gulf in Birzebbuga. Others pass at height of 253 meters above sea level, on tops of cliffs of Dingli. Nevertheless the Maltese tracks have something in common. They occur only in certain geological formation. Almost all of them are grooved in grey coral lime stone.
According to experts is the bottom lime stone 25 million years old, the upper is then younger, 6 million years old. The track imprint is fret into both of these layers simultaneously! There's something disturbing here.
Perhaps the most widely known place on Malta is the area of Clapham Junction. On 3 hectares there are hundreds of tracks. This complicated system of parallel lines resembles big railroad station. Supporters of encounters of the third kind consider these grooved tracks as traces of civilizations from other planets. From a certain angle resemble the pairs of trenches a springboard for launching a space shuttle, don't they? The wide spectrum of notions per se demonstrates that expert science didn't reach any resolution. In violation of real data are advocated strange versions of artificial curving of the tracks.
I assume we discovered an unambiguous proof. The mysterious tracks on Malta came into existence before the natural catastrophe which occurred 5,000 years ago.
