熟練石工が支えた院内町の石橋 A stone bridge in the Innai , was supported by a skilled mason
Oita prefecture is known for having the largest number of stone bridges in Japan, and in Innai Town, Usa City, there are 75 stone bridges preserved. 64 of these bridges are arch (spectacle) bridges, the largest number found in any one town in the whole of Japan.
大分県は全国で最も石橋が多い地域であるが、中でもこの宇佐市院内町には75基もの石橋が残されており、アーチ橋(めがね橋)は64基と日本一を誇っている。
There are many reasons why there are so many stone bridges in this area. One reason is that the topography of the region is characterized by a deep ravine with such swift rapids that the local people needed to build robust bridges which wouldn’t wash away.
A second reason was that there was an abundance of the stones necessary for the construction of the bridges in quarries in the area. Finally, there were also many skilled stonemasons who were experienced in building stonewalls and walls around the vital rice fields. One of the most famous of these stonemasons was Shinnosuke Matsuda, known as “the king of stone bridges”, who learnt the art of designing arch bridges in Kansai. He returned to the area in 1897 and built 14 stone bridges, 11 of which are still standing, including the famous Torii-bashi bridge. There are also several of his bridges remaining in neighboring Ajimu and Honyabakei Towns.
(Torii-Bashi Bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Asset)
Torii-Bashi, a 5 span arch bridge, is one of the most famous of the 75 stone bridges in Innai Town. The small villages dotted deep in the valley are connected by this 5 arched bridge. The bridge is also known as “Ishibashi bashi no Kifujin” or “The bridge of ladies” due to the graceful image of an elegant pontoon bridge stretching up to heaven.Constructed by the famous stonemason Shinnosuke Matsuda, the bridge was completed in July 1916. The fact that it has withstood many heavy floods is a credit to the detailed design and engineering skills with which it was built.
The bridge is lit up until 10 o’clock each night, and you can see a mysterious side to the bridge that differs from the daytime.
②御沓橋(Mikutsu-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Asset)
With a length of 59m, this triple arched stone bridge is the longest in the town. Completed in 1925, the sight of the bridge standing firmly in the furious, erosive rapids of the south to north flowing Era River gives a sense of strength and shows the modern taste and elegance of the time. Its reflection in the river surface is also a magical sight.
③荒瀬橋(Arase-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
The highest and most beautiful of all the double-arched “spectacle” bridges in the town. Looking up at the bridge from the park at its base you can see the gentle mountains in the background through the arches.
④富士見橋(Fujimi-bashi bridge)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
The name given to this bridge came about because Mt. Yufu, a Mt. Fuji lookalike, can be seen when standing on top of the bridge. The bridge collapsed half way through construction. However, the conviction and willpower of master craftsman Shinnosuke Matsuda led to a second attempt at construction, and it is said that using his own private funds the bridge was successfully completed the following year.
⑤分寺橋(Buji-bashi bridge) (Illuminated at night)
(夜間ライトアップ有)
(Designated a Municipal Tangible Cultural Asset)
Comparatively new within the town, this triple-arched bridge was completed in 1945. Despite being constructed in the midst of the war, the symmetrically engraved stones are neatly stacked.

Bungee jump gone wrong: Brazilian man dives head-first into the ground in fatal jump - TomoNews
SÃO PAULO — The shocking moment that a Brazilian thrill-seeker died in front of his family in a bungee jump gone horribly wrong has been captured on video.
The incident happened on Sunday in São Paulo state, when Fabio Ezequiel de Moraes, 36, thought it would be a good idea to jump off a 130-foot high railway bridge with an elastic cord tied around his ankle.
The only problem with that was nobody had checked to see if the cord was too long.
Moraes slammed head-first into the ground, the Sun reported, citing Brazilian newspaper Reporter Diario.
First responders arrived on the scene and rushed Moraes to the hospital but the head trauma proved too great, and he died soon afterward.
Things could have been a lot worse, though. Moraes originally planned to jump with his 6-year-old son, but decided at the last minute that he would do it solo.
Sadly however, the poor boy witnessed his father’s tragic death. Moraes’ horrified wife, brother, and his brother’s girlfriend also watched the fatal bungee jump.
Moraes hired a team of extreme sports specialists to help him do the jump. Police seized the team’s equipment and were investigating Moraes’ death.

Jeddah Tower 2020 Update Timelapse | 1000m+ World's Tallest Building
Jeddah Tower is a skyscraper on hold on the north side of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is planned to be the world's first 1 km (3,281 ft) high building, and the centrepiece and first phase of a development and tourist attraction known as Jeddah Economic City.
Initial plans called for a mile high structure, but the geology of the area proved unsuitable for a tower of that height. The current design, created by American architect Adrian Smith, who also designed Burj Khalifa, incorporates many unique structural and aesthetic features. The creator and leader of the project is Saudi Arabian prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, a grandson of Ibn Saud, and nephew of the Kings of Saudi Arabia before him. Al-Waleed is the chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), which is a partner in the Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), which was formed in 2009 for the development of Jeddah Tower and City.
The building has been scaled down from its initial one mile high (5,280 ft) proposal, which was never fully designed, to a height of at least 1,000 meters (3,281 ft) (the exact height is being kept private while in development, similar to the Burj Khalifa). At about one kilometer, Jeddah Tower would still be by far the tallest building or structure in the world to date, standing 180 m (591 ft) taller than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Jeddah Tower's 50-hectare (120-acre) plot with surrounding buildings will be the first of a three-phase Jeddah Economic City development. The three-phase project proposed for a large area of undeveloped waterfront land with an area of 5.2 km2 (2.0 sq mi). It was originally planned to cover 23 km2 (8.9 sq mi) and cost SR100 billion. The area is located roughly 20 km (12 mi) north of the port city of Jeddah. Jeddah Economic City was designed by HOK Architects, and is estimated to cost at least SR75 billion (US$20 billion) and take around ten years to build.
The development is envisioned to grow into a new district of Jeddah. The second phase of the project will be the infrastructure development needed to support the city, and the third phase has not yet been revealed.
Unfortunately, the tower's construction halted in late 2017. It is unknown if or when construction will resume again.

Chicago's parks include the monument-rich Lincoln Park with the Chicago History Museum, Garfield Park Conservatory and Oak Park. Oak Park was home both to the author Ernest Hemingway and the visionary architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In Millennium Park, Frank Gehry's Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the equally futuristic-looking Cloud Gate are the highlights.

Burj Khalifa (Arabic: برج خليفة Khalifa Tower), known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is the tallest manmade structure in the world, at 2,723 feet. Construction began on September 21, 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on October 1, 2009. The building officially opened on January 4, 2010. It is part of the development called Downtown Dubai at the 'First Interchange' along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai's main business district. The total cost for the project was about $1.5 billion US; and for the entire Downtown Dubai development, $20 billion US.
The Dubai Fountain is a record-setting choreographed fountain system set on the 30-acre manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, at the center of the Downtown Dubai development in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors, it is 902 feet long and shoots water 240 feet into the air accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music. It was built at a cost of 218 million U.S. dollars.

The British tasked Cyril Radcliffe with the job of drawing a line to separate Punjab and Bengal provinces from India into East and West Pakistan. Muslims and Hindus weren’t the only ones being separated from each other. Sikhs and people from other faiths were affected as well.
A Sikh pilgrimage was divided because of the new border, Punjabi people of all faiths were separated from each other, and a culture was ultimately divided.
This Vox Borders episode looks at how the Radcliffe line changed Punjab and how communities are affected now.

Dog training is the application of behavior analysis which uses the environmental events of antecedents and consequences to modify the behavior of a dog, either for it to assist in specific activities or undertake particular tasks, or for it to participate effectively in contemporary domestic life. While training dogs for specific roles dates back to Roman times at least, the training of dogs to be compatible household pets developed with suburbanization in the 1950s.
A dog learns from interactions it has with its environment.[1] This can be through classical conditioning, where it forms an association between two stimuli; non-associative learning, where its behavior is modified through habituation or sensitisation; and operant conditioning, where it forms an association between an antecedent and its consequence.[2]
There are a variety of established methods of animals training, each with its adherents and critics. Some of the better known dog training procedures include the Koehler method, clicker training, motivational training, electronic training, model-rival training, dominance-based training, and relationship-based training. The common characteristics of successful methods are knowing the animal's attributes and personality, accurate timing of reinforcement and/or punishment and consistent communication. The use of punishment is controversial with both the humaneness and effectiveness questioned by many behaviourists.
