Insane KOREAN BREAKFAST at Bukchon Hanok Village | Seoul, South Korea
On my final morning in South Korea, I headed out early and met up with my buddy Paul from Tastes Seoul Good for one last Korean breakfast in Seoul! Come along with us as we enjoy our insane Korean breakfast and explore Bukchon Hanok Village!
FEATURED TRAVELER:
Paul (Tastes Seoul Good):
Bukchon Hanok Village is a 14th-century village that has been preserved in Seoul. It lies on a hill between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace. It’s where government officials and nobility used to live and is super authentic! If you come here, you should respect the people who live there and talk quietly. Don’t be a noisy, disrespectful tourist!
From there, we found a small, diner-like spot selling some amazing Korean foods including gimbap, bibimbap, noodles, soups, dumplings, and more.
Paul ordered a kimchi jjigae, or a kimchi stew with pork and green onions and a side of rice. There are also lots of banchan!
I ordered cold buckwheat noodles with egg, spicy sauce, cucumber, radish, and ice. It looked super cold! I also got a kimchi gimbap and a tuna and kimchi gimbap. The portion sizes for both are unreal! Then I also had some banchan, including kimchi, gelatin, and some vegetables.
First, I mixed up my noodles. They were super thin, almost like glass noodles. I cut them up with my chopsticks. They were super cold and also had some spice to them. It was a crazy combination – I had brain freeze and my lips were tingling from the spice! There was also some amazing cabbage in it, too! The sauce and water they were coated with almost gave them a slimy texture.
Then I went for some gimbap, which had a different rice with a pick tint. It was so tasty, I could eat it all day! The tuna inside was canned and the carrot, egg, and kimchi was a really great combination. It had a different, tangy flavor to it and was really fantastic! The tuna one was great, but the kimchi gimbap was out of this world!
The kimchi on the side was incredible, and the gelatin was bland with a bit of spice. The veggies weren’t so spicy but were still very good. It was a nice, filling meal that was super unique!
We finished up with a rice cake with powdered soybean on it. The entire meal came to just 18,000 won, or a little over $15 U.S.
Then, we headed back into the village. I was hoping to find some souvenir shops so I could get some things for my kids. We took a hike up a hill to the observatory. It was super steep. We reached a viewpoint that looked out over the roofs of the traditional houses and the skyline in the distance.
We continued on to one of the main streets. Everything there was super authentic. The architecture was beautiful. I loved the stonework and the rooftops were emblematic of traditional Korea! There were also lots of gorgeous doorways!
Outside of a couple of ice cream and tea shops, there weren’t any restaurants in the village, so it was a good thing we ate before exploring. I found an awesome, Instagram-worthy door and a souvenir shop at the top of the hill.
Inside the shop, they sold items from Korea, Chinese artifacts, items from Nepal, and more. I bought some cool figurines wearing hanboks. There were also boxes made of mother of pearl, traditional masks, and more!
Outside, we found some pumpkin-flavored traditional taffy. It was pretty hard and the guy used a chisel to chop it up! We spotted some tourists wearing hanboks, which I highly recommend when you come to South Korea, especially the palaces.
Then we headed off to grab some strong, iced Americano coffees with no sugar. It gave me a jolt of energy and was exactly what I needed!
I hope you enjoyed this video of my Bukchon Hanok Village experience! If you did, please give it a thumbs up, leave me a comment, and subscribe to my channel!

Bukchon Hanok Village, Seoul Korea (From Anguk Station) - WalkingMap TV / 북촌 한옥마을 / 北村韩屋村 / 北村韓屋村
How to get to the Bukchon Hanok Village from Anguk Station.
Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses, called hanok, that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. The name Bukchon, which literally translates to northern village, came about as the neighborhood lies north of two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno. Today, many of these hanoks operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants and tea houses, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience, learn and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture.

Top 100 destinations in Korea unveiled
한국인이라면 꼭 가봐야할 국내 관광지 100곳은 어디
Spring is one of the best times of the year to pack a bag and go traveling.
To help, the Korean government has picked out some of the must-see destinations in the country.
Our cultural correspondent Kim Ji-yeon gives us a sneak peak.
When the days start getting warmer, after a long cold winter,... that′s when the travel bug bites.
S how about taking in some of the best attractions in Korea.
The tourism ministry has rolled out it′s annual list of the top 100 places to visit.
Standouts among them are five traditional palaces, built during the Joseon Dynasty,... all located in the capital city of Seoul.
Sites where travelers can experience traditional culture were also included… such as the Bukchon Hanok Village, Insa-dong, and Namdaemun Market.
But the top travel destinations are not just limited to the capital city.
In fact, most of them are sites in Korea′s southeastern Gyeongsang-do Province… including the Bulguksa Temple.
Built during the Silla Dynasty, the temple in Gyeongju city is not only a beloved relic but also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Seorak-san Mountain in northeastern Kangwon-do Province also made the list, with its accessible hiking trails and panoramic views.
And in the southernmost Jeju Island, there′s the 90-meter-high crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak.
The crater was formed by a volcanic eruption 100-thousand years ago... and now serves as an ideal spot for horse riding.
More information on these top travel spots can be found through the state-run Korea Tourism Organization.

The best time to visit the Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul is during the week, preferably in the afternoon. Especially if you are into photography/videography. The light right before the sunset is gorgeous!
Make sure you stop by one of those tourist kiosks and get a free map. The guides that work there can show you the best route to take.
If you can find it, go up to the Bukchon Observatory. Calling it an observatory is a little generous. I think it's some guy basically opened up his apartment for tourists. It's 3000 won to get in and you get a free drink (tea), but the view of the area is sublime.
Aside from the traditional houses, there are also many shops and cafe near Bukchon. Take your time, walk around, and see what little gems you can find.

Monday evening in Jongno (종로에서 보낸 월요일 저녁) - ???????? SEOUL WALK
Walk and see the neon lights, restaurants, beer houses, and singing rooms of Jongno on a Monday night! ^^
In the beginning of the video, Marie and I had a random subscriber encounter with Henry and Leslie! Henry had commented on a previous video that him and his wife were going to visit Seoul during this time, and I replied back that we are in the area often since Marie's office is near their hotel. I said that maybe we'd run into each other on the streets of Seoul! AND WE DID. ^_^
It was very random, and turns out we have a lot in common. They live in Washington, DC and I lived there for 6 years. They frequent many Korean restaurants and marts in the Annandale and Fairfax, Virginia area, just like I used to when I lived in Arlington.
They are very nice and it was good to meet them in person, and include them in the intro to this video! ^_^
So, this neighborhood's official name is Gwancheol-dong (관철동), in Jongno (종로). It is closest to Jonggak Station (종각역), so many visitors refer to it as Jonggak. But Koreans call it Jongno.
When Koreans say Let's go to Jongno for drinks! everyone knows they mean this specific neighborhood near Jonggak Station, even though Jongno is huge and has many other places in it.
This area is famous for all their neon and LED signs, many BBQ, chicken, Korean, and Japanese restaurants, as well as many karaoke rooms and other forms of entertainment.
There are many tall business buildings nearby, with major corporations like Hanhwa, SK Telecom, KT, and many more! So many corporations are clustered around one area! The people who go to this area are mostly businessmen and women who work in the same company, but you can also see groups of young people here and there having fun as well.
After work, these officer workers get together to let loose for dinner and drinks. It's a custom for Korean office workers to eat dinner together, and then hop from one place to another.
They refer to it as il-cha (1차 = 1st round), i-cha (2차 = 2nd round), sam-cha (3차 = 3rd round), and so forth. It's essentially bar hopping from place to place, and usually involves lots of food, drinking, more food, and karaoke.
To get to this area, take Line 1 to Jonggak Station, walk out of Exit 4. Walk straight out of Exit 4 and turn right at Dunkin Donuts. That puts you right into the heart of this neon heaven of drinking and eating. ^_^
Thank you for watching, we really appreciate the support!

Ssamziegil is a colorful shopping and culture complex in Insadong that features cafes, galleries, and workshops that mix modern and traditional Korean styles. The complex opened in 2004 and now is a destination in itself and an important centerpiece of Insadong. Ssamziegil may be modern, but it is construction blends wondering into the surrounding traditional neighborhood.

Vlog #12 | Seoul | Bukchon, Museum of Korea & bike ride at Hangang
Hey !
Here is my new vlog ! As I'm actually taking a break in Seoul, I want to enjoy my last 3 months here as much as possible. Last week I've been very busy while discovering, enjoying new places and learning more about korean culture.
Jade and I went to Bukchon Hanok Village, where you can find such beautiful korean old-style houses, called hanok. Usually, Bukchon is really crowded but if you're going there before July and on a week day, you'll not find a lot of tourists.
Then I discovered the amazing National Museum of Korea, where you can enjoy all the exhibitions. Entree is fully free except for special exhbition, but you'll spend no more than 3$ there. I recommend you to enjoy the huge garden, you'll enjoy a good walk !
And then I rent a bike for an afternoon with my friend and rode it for 3 hours around Hangang park for a sunny moment !
Hope you'll enjoy this vlog !
