Meet the Winemaker (Episode 19): Richard Buller, Buller Wines, by Debra Meiburg MW
Richard Buller of Buller Wines in Rutherglen Australia shares with Debra the unique story behind Rutherglen Muscat, one of the few varietals for which Australia can lay claim to fame, why it is pure nectar, how important cellar door visitors are to Buller Wines, and how to taste this unique wine using three key senses.

Wine Week 192: Around Rutherglen (and beyond).
Last week Danny was up around Rutherglen. While the region is definitely best known for its stunning fortifieds and bold durifs, Danny brought back a couple of wines that break the mould. The first is a rosé from Scion that's bone dry despite being made from a grape more normally associated with sweet whites. Then there is the Stanton & Killeen Prince Reserva, a wine made for the table with grapes normally associated with Portuguese fortified wines. In between Brad takes us over to the over side of Australia with a great value Shiraz from Xabregas in the Great Southern region of WA.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - Drink more Muscat!
This is hands-down one of Australia's greatest contributions to the world of fine wine, but sadly it is under-appreciated.
The warm climate of Rutherglen ripens luscious Muscat grapes to full maturity, and the amber nectar is then fortified before it has fully finished fermenting, leaving the wine rich and sweet.
This classic example from Campbells is loaded with hedonistic flavours like fig, treacle, raisin, dark chocolate, honeycomb and caramel. The palate is silken, sweet and gently spicy, with such a long finish.
A great wine for cheese or dessert, or simply as an after-dinner drink.

Recorded live at the Good Food & Wine show in Melbourne, Danny chats to the David Morris from Morris Wines. Morris Wines are probably best know for their fortified wines, which have an unparalleled track record at the Rutherglen Wine Show - the toughest wine show in Australia for stickies due to being the home of so many of Australia finest fortified wine producers.

Sam Scarpari's WINE PASSIONS #112 - Warrabilla 09 Zinfandel - Rutherglen Wine Region
Im looking at an Australian made Zinfandel produced from the Rutherglen wine region in Victoria. Rutherglen is more recognized for their world famous fortifieds and Durif table wines, but I was able to find this Zinfandel valued at $15. Dense, cherry driven fruit, with dusty chalk notes and smooth round tannins - Its a fantastic alternative to a good well made Shiraz

Wine Week 219: Start, middle and end.
Start with a white, continue with a red, finish with a sticky. It's the classic night of wine drinking for many. So this week we follow the pattern and start with a Chardonnay from Oakridge, a producer from the Yarra Valley with big chatter about their whites right now. We continue with onto a red, staying in the Yarra Valley. The Mac Forbes Cabernet impressed Brad with its style and polish. To end the episode we hook into a sticky, in this case a Rutherglen Muscat from local stalwarts Chambers.
