STEYR: Exploring AUSTRIA'S most beautiful TOWN - Rivers & medieval castles
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit the beautiful village of Steyr which is situated in the Traunviertel region of Austria, with the two rivers Steyr and Enns flowing through it and meeting near the town centre beneath Lamberg Castle and St Michael's Church.
Steyr is an ancient town with modern amenities, marketing its rich cultural and architectural heritage in tourism like Vienna and many other well preserved Austrian historic towns. It marked its 1,000th anniversary in 1980, after undergoing extensive restoration of its historic architecture which has made it one of the best preserved old towns in the country. The famous historic town centre built around the Stadtplatz (town square) was largely restored following World War II. Its best-known piece of architecture is called the Bummerlhaus which is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture for its size in Central Europe.
Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe, characterized by mountain villages, baroque architecture, Imperial history and rugged Alpine terrain. Vienna, its Danube River capital, is home to the Schönbrunn and Hofburg palaces. It has counted Mozart, Strauss and Freud among its residents. The country’s other notable regions include the northern Bohemian Forest, Traunsee Lake and eastern hillside vineyards.

DIE ROMANTIKSTADT STEYR
Die über 1000jährige Romantikstadt Steyr, am Zusammenfluss von Enns und Steyr gelegen, ist ein wahres Stadtjuwel. Es gibt viel zu entdecken. Einen der schönsten Stadtplätze Europas, auf dem sich Bürgerhäuser aus allen Stilepochen harmonisch aneinander fügen. Seit über sechshundert Jahren steht das Wahrzeichen, das gotische Bummerlhaus, im Zentrum dieses einzigartigen Stadtplatzes.
Darüber thront das mächtige Schloss Lamberg auf den Grundfesten der Styraburg, jener Festung, der die Stadt 980 n. Chr. ihre Gründung verdankt.
Seit Jahrhunderten bestimmen die beiden Flüsse Enns und Steyr die Entwicklung der Stadt. Zahlreiche Wehranlagen, alte Brunnen sowie 119 Brücken und Stege prägen das Steyrer Stadtbild. Die Wirtschaft der Stadt Steyr wird seit Urzeiten vom Wasser geprägt. Als Verkehrsweg brachte es durch den Eisenhandel und dem damit verbundenen Handwerk der Bevölkerung Reichtum und Wohlstand.
