The Blue City of Bundi, India: Magnificent Moti Mahal Garh Palace
If you have never been to Bundi, try not to miss it. Palaces, and I do mean palaces, are surrounded by fort walls, that stretch into infinity and beyond. Owned by a Maharajah that doesn't doesn't want to fully restore the Moti Mahal, and two other palaces in the next video, they have the most incredibly gorgeous rooms filled to the max with paintings in Bundi style.
Vivid, colorful, story telling paintings on walls, ceilings, gold niches, go on and on. We visited Bundi in February but my camcorder went ka-ka in Bundi and it took forever to edit and smooth clips. I thought it was worth the effort since neither Steve nor I have ever seen such a collection. Enjoy...
Bundi Palace in Rajasthan - India
Bundi Palace in Rajasthan is an architectural wonder built high on the hill above the town of Bundi. It is quite deserted, but famous for its beautiful wall and ceiling paintings. The Diwan-e-Aam has a white coronation throne. Above the palace sits the Taragarh Fort. Background music is Open Sea Morning by Puddle of Infinity.

#41 BUNDI PALACE, FORT AND HOW TO MAKE THE BEST MASALA CHAI
We've taken a couple of the public buses in India now and they aren't as bad as I first imagined. Sure the seats are worn and they have never been cleaned EVER and they are held together with rust but they get us from A to B cheaply. Adjmer to Bundi was 5 hours and cost 320 INR
We were staying at Haveli Katkoun which was the biggest room we have ever had and for only 800 INR. We had a bay window and even a seating area which we don't normally get on a backpacker budget.
The main tourist attraction in Bundi is the Palace and Fort. We spent a whole day having a good look round and taking in the views over Bundi. The Palace isn't best looked after and is kind of falling apart. In a whimsical way it kind of added to the charm of the place.
We visited a chai shop in Bundi who claims to have the best masala chai we will ever have. I have to say, from the get go I believe him. We don't normally see the chai stalls make the chai from scratch but this guy gets the spices, turns them into powder on the floor in front of him using a rock and throws it in the pot with milk. He gets it boiling to make sure the masala really works and has a special way of pouring it. It was awesome. Definitely the best masala chai we've ever had.
We watched the sunset from one of the roof top bars and I had a desert called Hello to the Queen. I've had a few of these in India and OMG they are amazing. Its kind of like a broken shortbread biscuit, fried in butter then hot banana, chocolate, condensed milk and ice cream are added. For a massive bowl it only costs 80 INR. I have to stop eating so many though!
The following morning we started the day at a road side stall with a couple of samosas and chai's. We had a wander round the big lake before heading to another roof top restaurant for a thali. We decided to treat ourselves and have a fancy special thali which included 3 curries, rice, pakoras, puri breads, salad and an indian doughnut thing. A huge tray of food for 160 INR (£1.89).

Taragarh Fort | BUNDI - Bundi Market | Rajasthan Tourism
Taragarh Fort, Bundi
Constructed in the year 1354, the Taragarh fort is one of the most impressive structures in the city of Ajmer, in the northern state of Rajasthan in India. The state of Bundi was founded in this year by Rao Deva, and this was when the construction of this massive square began. Popularly known as the 'Star Fort', the attraction is located on a steep hill and offers a panoramic and breathtaking view of the entire city of Bundi situated in the Nagpahari of Aravalli ranges. The fort was described by the famous author Rudyard Kipling as more the work of Goblins than of men. Sadly, time took its toll on this magnificent structure, and most of the majestic and fascinating architecture of the fort is now in ruins. You can, however, still appreciate the features of the fort that exhibit the grandeur of the Rajput rule to this day.
The entrance to the fort is marked by three gateways, followed by tunnels and many battlements along with ramparts. These exhibits are also of great interest to the tourists, such as the famous Grand Canyon or the 'Garbha Gunjan'. The Rani Mahal, which was built exclusively for the wives and concubines of the rulers of those times and is located in the same area, is also a great and famous attraction for the tourists. The place is at its peak of beauty when the sun sets, and the entire city is immersed in the fading light of the setting sun. A visit to the Taragarh Fort is an engrossing experience that provides essential details about our rich history and culture.

BUNDI, RAJASTHAN - Hotel Bundi Haveli - I Believe in Bundi
December 25, 2015
- to those of you that celebrate this day - Merry Christmas!
December 24, 2014 - Barbara tells me we left for India on this day , via Shanghai, what an adventure that was.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We went to Bundi with much anticipation as our next door neighbours, a young couple, kept telling us don't miss Bundi, it is a cool place. While it was a rough start, in the end we were not disappointed. .... and by the way, word of mouth from fellow travellers is of course a great way to plan your itinerary. Come to think of it - that is why Trip Advisor is so popular. Our first highlight in Bundi was the unexpected opulence of the Hotel Bundi Haveli. Never before had we experienced such space and such a traditional surroundings. Haveli is a term used for older inns of historical or architectural value probably owned at some point by some rich families. Ok we tend to overreact to new sourroundings and new discoveries but this one was worth it. Quite early in our visit to Bundi we ran into an older Swiss gentleman who was quite the character. His statement of I believe in Bundi really impressed me.
