Bunratty Mead
A song that I wrote over ten years ago about the great Irish hero, Cuchulain. I thought up the chorus while driving back from a gig one night, between Odessa and Alpine, NY. I imagined Cuchulain kind of like Obelix, and the rest is history. If you ever visit Bunratty Castle's medieval banquet , you will receive a cup of this mead. It's wonderful. I sang a few verses of this once at Bunratty, and they loved it.

Drinking Mead in a Castle - Ireland Vlog #3
Days 6 and 7 of our trip consisted of renting a car and braving the roads. A trip to Trim Castle, a Medieval castle built in the 12th Century and was used in the filming of Braveheart. Exploring the Cliffs of Moher. We spend a couple nights in Limerick where we checked out King John's Castle, which was named after him, even though he never actually visited there, and then enjoyed a banquet feast at Bunratty Castle.

Bunratty Meade
Just received my imported Irish Bunratty Meade. Beautiful packaging/presentation. Blame it on Beowulf 3D, who spins tales of drinking meade, booze fit for the gods, so naturally I want to see what the hubbub is about. Possible review following this preview.

Drinking Mead (Honey Wine) - TheFNDC.com
Andrew guest stars as we sample some Bunratty Mead! Mead is a sort of honey wine popular in Ireland, and Northern Europe. The consumption of mead is also associated with Vikings, and the Norse god, Odin. You can find a decent variety of mead in the wine section at large liquor stores. This one came to us as a request from LostVikingProduction.

This is a beautiful little village my great grandfather grew up in this Village is where he was born in 1611. I don't know where he lived in this village, but just the fact that he was walking around here was incredibly wonderful to me. My vacation.

Wine Is Serious Business 336: Real Irish Wine
This week we have some hand imported bottles from Ireland. Lusca is a very small producer in Ireland that has a special system set up to allow these grapes to ripen, and to protect them from the large amount of rain they can get in that part of the world. We get to try the 2012 Cuvee Number 1, and the 2014 Cabernet/Merlot. What’s the weirdest wine region you’ve had wine from recently?

Irish whiskey was established and a very strong industry earlier indeed than Scottish whiskey, however due to a number of economic circumstances the industry in Ireland and distilling of course as part of that went into a considerable decline in I suppose you could say most of the 20th century. However nowadays we're certainly experiencing quite a re-growth or renaissance of Irish whiskey.

38. SOUNDBITE (English) Alex Connolly, Head of Communications, Tourism Ireland, Dublin, Ireland
Consumer consumption is down globally, so therefore tourism all over the world is suffering so any kind of initiative, any kind of imaginative idea that gets people or encourages people to visit Ireland is to be welcomed. And obviously we don't grow wine in Ireland as you know, we are not a wine producing country but we do make good whiskey. So as someone might go to France or Italy to visit a vineyard and maybe to see how the wine is made, so the whiskey trail here encourages people who may or may not have an interest in whiskey to come over here and taste literally in some cases a part of Ireland's heritage.

a replica of the drink of kings: Bunratty Meade 3/5 score
this was a pretty good drink, although it was a bit stronger on the taste of alcohol and was on the downside of the taste of Honey nor the taste of the herbs as explained in the details of the wine.
it was quite good though so i will have to rate it a 3/5
correction from my earlier review. I drank more today: 8/3/2017 and I discovered that my earlier review rating had an error: this wine deserves a 1/5 rating as it tastes as if someone tried to cheat their way in making wine by adding whiskey and then flavor coating it with honey and herbs to cover up their mistake.

The Ilen Tour Open House 20th Oct 2018 Limerick Docklands
The Ilen is a 56-foot long wooden ketch designed in 1926 by one of the country's greatest sailors, Edward Conor O'Brien.
The ship was designed in Limerick, rebuilt by local people, sailed out of Limerick and has now returned to the city.
The Ilen, the sole surviving Irish ocean-going wooden sailing ship, spent much of her life as a working transport boat on the Falkland Islands before being brought back to Ireland in 1998 by Gary McMahon, director of the Limerick-based Ilen project.
The restoration of The Ilen, Ireland’s last coastal trading boat in existence, was undertaken at Hegarty’s boatyard at Oldcourt just two kilometres away from Inish Beg.Built at the Fisheries School in Baltimore in 1926, The Ilen spent seventy tough years in the Falklands transporting sheep and cattle between the islands before returning home to Baltimore in 1998.
The boat and her history is also part of an ongoing exhibition at the Hunt Museum, which looks at the history of the Gandelow boats built to work on the sandy marshes of the River Shannon.

This was the day we explored a 1,000+ year old castle in Dromoland, Ireland.
We biked the grounds, got rained on, felt like we were in the middle of the Hunger Games and took a boat out on the lake.
Such an epic day. I'm stoked we got to enjoy it and that we now get to share it with you.
