Please listen to Pete Laing explain why pumps and sprinklers were not deployed in Southside, and about the assessment process that led to that decision.
In our anxiety, frustration, and anger, we sometimes conflate, combine, and confuse several different issues. This edited excerpt is from a public meeting this afternoon in Burns Lake.

Public Appeal In Burns Lake Homicides
Investigators are asking for the public's help in tracking the movements of an accused killer. Police are hoping to solidify a timeline for Reuben Buhler. They say the 54-year-old Burns Lake man has two vehicles: a 1998 red and silver Dodge Ram, and a 1992 teal green Ford Mustang convertible. Anyone who saw Buhler from noon on Sunday April 26, to 9am Monday April 27, is asked to call the Burns Lake RCMP. Monday, Buhler was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Sunday, three bodies were found inside a home in the 200 block of 5th Avenue. Investigators say no piece of information is too small.

Evacuation Order in Place for China Nose Fire near Houston
The smoke advisory has been lifted in Prince George, but the wildfire situation remains serious in some areas of Northern BC. Residents affected by a growing forest fire southeast of Houston will gather in Burns Lake tonight for a public information meeting. Wildfire officials will be providing an update on the China Nose Fire at the Island Gospel Fellowship Church at 7:00. 65 firefighters and 7 helicopters are devoted to the fire. Officials say air tankers have also been used, however their efforts are being hindered by poor visibility from the heavy smoke. An evacuation order has been issued for nearly two dozen properties and an evacuation alert affects several dozen more homes along Highway 16 between Decker Lake and Topley. The fire has charred 29 square kilometres of bush. Evacuees are being told to register at reception centres in Burns Lake and Houston.
