Bursledon Windmill Restoration
As part of the restoration of Bursledon Windmill, we have produced a series of films, including this Heritage documentary, to celebrate the windmill’s 200th anniversary. The repair work took two years and included the production and installation of a new windshaft and replacement sails. Hampshire Cultural Trust commissioned us to produce this short documentary to record the restoration and we also produced a series of animations for young visitors to the site. We have an excellent reputation for producing engaging, sensitive video content for heritage organisations.

History of Bursledon Windmill & Phoebe Langtree 1813
Short film showing the story of Bursledon Windmill and Miller Pheobe Langtree, who built the present Mill in 1813 replacing the original 1766 structure. This film is in The Junkyard because Junkyard Tom appears in the film, as William Langtree, Phoebe's feckless husband who left her before she built the Mill - and as Phoebe's son who later worked the mill. This film was made by Motivation for Hampshire Cultural Trust who still operate this mill, which is fully operational & open to the public following a recent major restoration. - See also on this channel film of Junkyard Tom with TV weatherman Simon Parkin on local TV news when sails were removed for restoration.

Windmills of Cambridgeshire: Soham - Downfield Mill
This video documents one of two remaining windmills at Soham in Cambridgeshire. Me and my sister have had a lifelong interest in tall and interesting buildings such as windmills, and aim to go round many of the windmills in the region and other counties in England, so more videos will come in future months.
Downfield Mill in Soham lies just off the Fordham Road and was originally built in 1726. After being raised in 1860, the Mill had to be rebuilt in 1890 following the aftermath of a storm. The windmill has 4 storeys high, and for a number of years following restoration in 1975 has had just 2 sails. As of 2014 when me and my sister visited, the windmill now has no sails at all.
Filmed on my Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 digital camera on 31st July 2014.

Southampton Heritage Festival - September 2019
The Southampton Heritage Festival was held over the weekend of 14th & 15th September 2019 featuring a number of Vintage Buses running special routes in different locations over the two days.
Whilst on Saturday they ran trips to and from the Steamship Shieldhall which later took an afternoon cruise around Southampton Docks, the Sunday saw the event take place at Bursledon Brickworks where they ran trips to Warsash, Swanwick Railway Station and Bursledon Windmill via Bursledon Station.
In addition, the Brickworks was in steam and a display of other vintage vehicles could be seen outside the building.
This video features the following...
- Shieldhall sailing through Southampton Docks
- Bursledon Windmill (not turning due to a lack of wind)
- Bursledon Brickworks
Also featuring numerous buses working in different locations around Bursledon and Swanwick.

Moulton Windmill at 100ft tall is the tallest windmill in the UK and was built in 1822. In recent years it has undergone significant restoration work and is open to the public as a visitors attraction. In recent years it featured on the television programme Restoration, hosted by Griff Rhys Jones.

Removing Sails from Burseldon Windmill for Restoration - Junkyard Tom live on local TV News
This film was shot by the local TV News channel for their Weather slot with presenter Simon Parkin in 2012 speaking to Junkyard Tom (of TomsJunkyard Channel), at that time Curator at Bursledon Windmill in Hampshire. This film shows the sails being removed from the Windmill prior to major repairs. The piece went out live but includes some sequences of the Windmill running shot just before the sails came off. Removing the sails was an impressive lifting challenge wequiring two large cranes and an extending platform hoist.
The windmill was given a major refurbishment and is now back up-and-running, believed to be the only working windmill with a timber windshaft. The old windshaft that needed to be replaced is now a bench by the Mill Pond.
junkyard tom visited the Mill again in October 2016 during an Epic 217-mile drive in his 1958 Wolseley 6/90. Read the full story here:
Heckington Windmill
It was built in 1830 to plans by millwright Edward Ingledew , Heckington Windmill is the only eight-sailed tower windmill still standing in the United Kingdom with its sails intact. Heckington is located between Sleaford and Boston in Lincolnshire, England. The mill stands very close to Heckington railway station, hence its name of the Station Mill in the 19th century. Paul 'scruffy' Martin takes a look at The windmill which is designated a Grade I listed building.
