A Farringdon landmark is Massey's Folly, an imposing but eccentric building with towers and battlements built by a vicar of Farringdon, Rev. T.H. Massey. Its intended purpose during its construction was obscure, but since a few years after the Reverend's death in 1919 it has served as a school and village hall, and is currently undergoing restoration; it was featured in the 2006 BBC TV programme, Restoration Village.

Cotswold River Walk Buscot to Kelmscot
Another Cotswold river walk, and we return to the Thames from Buscot to Kelmscot, but starting in Kelmscot, which means a walk through fields and meadows to Buscot. No problem then except I think the walk guide needs an update, missing trees and styles add to the excitement, but don’t detract from a beautiful country walk. Buscot, pretty as ever and full of interest, not only as a lock on the mighty Thames, but also a sluice system to maintain the river height to the west. There are both the original system and the more modern automated version. The return walk besides the river is magical, both calming and exciting somehow. Second World War blockhouses show how seriously the threat of invasions was taken in the second world unpleasantness, but don’t detract from the majesty of the surroundings. Enjoy.

A day at Scotney Castle -National Trust
Scotney Castle is an English country house with formal gardens south-east of Lamberhurst in the valley of the River Bewl in Kent, England. It belongs to the National Trust.
The gardens, which are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a celebrated example of the Picturesque style, are open to the public. The central feature is the ruins of a medieval, moated manor house, Scotney Old Castle, which is on an island on a small lake. The lake is surrounded by sloping, wooded gardens with fine collections of rhododendrons, azaleas and kalmia for spring colour, summer wisteria and roses, and spectacular autumn colour.
At the top of the garden stands a house which was built to replace the Old Castle between 1835 and 1843. This is known as Scotney New Castle, or simply Scotney Castle, and was designed by Anthony Salvin. It is an early and unusually restrained example of Tudor Revival architectural style in 19th-century Britain. Following the death of the resident, Elizabeth Hussey, in 2006, this house was opened to the public for the first time on 6 June 2007.

Exploring the gardens at Buscot Park!
Exploring the gardens at Buscot Park, Oxfordshire. Buscot Park is in the care of the National Trust.
Dyrham Park, House & Gardens Gloucestershire.
Dyrham Park is a baroque mansion in an ancient deer park near the village of Dyrham in South Gloucestershire, England.
The house is set in 274 acres (1.1 km²) of gardens and parkland. The west front of 1692 was commissioned from the Huguenot architect, Samuel Hauduroy, and the east front of 1704 from William Talman, architect of Chatsworth, by William Blathwayt, who was Secretary at War to William III.
Because of Blathwayt’s royal connections, and his influential uncle, Thomas Povey, Dyrham became a showcase of Dutch decorative arts. The collection includes delftware, paintings and furniture. 18th century additions include furniture by Gillow and Linnell. The interiors have remained little altered since decorated by Blathwayt. The Blathwayt family lived at the house until 1956, when the government acquired it. The National Trust acquired it in 1961.
Dyrham Park in South Gloucestershire has been used in Poldark series three for the backdrop of the Warleggan Town House.
