The Wisdom of Father Brown Video / Audiobook [3/3] By G. K. Chesterton
This book is a collection of twelve stories starring the priest, Father Brown and his friend Inspector Flambeau written in the first half of the twentieth century. Father Brown solves things by observation and thought, in some ways like Poirot, but in an unassuming and modest manner. The stories are each very different, but are very good reading(Review by Scilla)

The Prime Minister is my father's friend. The Foreign Minister married my sister. The Chancellor of the Exchequer is my first cousin. Because of these intimate relationships with the leading political figures in the land, Fisher knows too much about the private politics behind the public politics of the day. A heavy burden for him to carry in these eight stories.

Great Battles Lecture: The Scopes Monkey Trial
Great Battles Evening Lecture
A Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts Event
The Scopes Monkey Trial
The Scopes Monkey Trial (The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes) was a landmark American legal case in 1925 in which a high school science teacher, John Scopes, was accused of violating Tennessee's Butler Act, which made it unlawful to teach evolution. Modernists, who said religion was consistent with evolution, were set against religious fundamentalists in a trial that helped to fuel the controversy regarding teaching evolution in public schools. Dr. Janet Monge, Associate Curator-in-Charge and Keeper of Collections, Physical Anthropology Section, discusses this groundbreaking case.

The importance of being earnest, Comedy Play for Serious People By Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest is subtitled A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, and has proved immensely popular since its first performance in 1895. The play certainly has its farcical and comic elements, such as the witty banter exchanged by the characters and the flippant attitude towards love and marriage that characterizes the action. However, the play also explores more serious themes through the central story of Jack Worthing's search for his identity.
First Act - Pg 2
Second Act - Pg 77
Third Act - Pg 170

The Return of Sherlock Holmes
Sir Arthur Conan DOYLE
The book was first published in February 1905 by McClure, Phillips & Co. (New York) then on March 7, 1905 by Georges Newnes, Ltd. (London) and was the first Holmes collection since 1893, when Holmes had died in The Final Problem. Having published The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1901–1902 (setting it before Holmes' death) Doyle came under intense pressure to revive his famous character.
The first story is set in 1894 and has Holmes returning in London and explaining the period from 1891–94, a period called The Great Hiatus by Sherlockian enthusiasts. Also of note is Watson's statement in the last story of the cycle that Holmes has retired, and forbids him to publish any more stories. - Summary by Wikipedia

Crome Yellow Video / Audiobook [1/2] By Aldous Huxley
It is the story of a house party at Crome, a parodic version of Garsington Manor, home of Lady Ottoline Morrell, a house where authors such as Huxley and T. S. Eliot used to gather and write.
Crome Yellow is in the tradition of the English country house novel, as practiced by Thomas Love Peacock, in which a diverse group of characters descend upon an estate to leech off the host. They spend most of their time eating, drinking, and holding forth on their personal intellectual conceits. There is little plot development.
