Town of 1770 Loop Walk
1770 was a favorite stopover for us during our 2016 Winter Trip. From our caravan park the walk heads along the western side of the the peninsula through the town to the Capt Cook Memorial and then up to the lookout at the top of Round Hill before returning along the eastern side and a long beach walk before walking along a 4WD track that leads back to the van park. A brilliant 10km walk.
Town of 1770
1770 - the town where Captain James Cook first came to QLD, Australia. His second stop in Aus. One of the most beautiful places in Australia with surf, sun, butterfly walks and the Great Barrier Reef.
Exploring Seventeen Seventy
Steph and I went exploring around the Peninsula of Seventeen Seventy, Queensland, Australia, encountering butterflies and capping the day with a beautiful sunset on the beach with friends.
A Visit to the Butterfly Forest on Magnetic island North Qld , Australia
On our second Holiday trip to Magnetic island we once again visit the Butterfly Forest, a small conservation area in Horseshoe Bay where in the breeding season of June and July, hundreds probably thousands of butterflies enjoy their brief existence. The videos don't really do justice to this magnificent sight you have to see it with your own eyes. We also see a young Kookaburra briefly and see if you can some bats hanging off the top of some of the trees. Magnetic Island is a popular holiday destination in North Queensland just off the coast opposite Townsville. It is accessable only by ferry which run frequently during the day as well as a car and truck ferry. Many people pop across for the day and it is very popular with backpackers. The weather was a very pleasant 23 - 24 degrees being winter time.

We found Paradise - Walking the Red Rock Trail - Agnes Water, Day 3 | vlog161213
WOW, we had such a beautiful day here at Agnes Water. The local lookouts were just stunning. We also walked the Red Rock Trail which has by far the most beautiful scenery we've ever experienced. Rocky tracks alternating with little private beaches with soft sand. We could not get enough (hence the video is a bit longer than usually :) )
We had the best day ever!

Exploring the Presidio of San Saba
Presidio San Luis de las Amarillas, now better known as Presidio de San Sabá, was founded in April 1757 near present-day Menard, Texas, United States to protect the Mission Santa Cruz de San Sabá, established at the same time. The presidio and mission were built to secure Spain's claim to the territory. They were part of the treaty recently reached with the Lipan Apaches of the area for mutual aid against enemies.
On March 16, 1758, a band of 2000 Comanche and Wichita Indians, bitter enemies of the Lipan Apache, attacked Mission Santa Cruz de San Sabá. The presidio sent a small force to aid the mission, but the soldiers were driven back. Two of the three priests at the mission were killed and the mission was destroyed. The Indians did not attack the presidio.
More than a year later, a force of 600 men from the presidio set out to find and punish the Indians responsible for the attack on the mission. The Spanish force was repulsed with heavy losses and the presidio commander was relieved of command. The new commander replaced the log stockade with a stone compound and was renamed, Presidio de San Saba’. The post was abandoned in 1768, reoccupied briefly in 1770, then permanently abandoned (Source: Wikipedia).

Reedy Creek Paperbark Forest Walk
Take a look around the 45-minute Paperbark Forest Walk. It's on our Reedy Creek Reserve on the Queensland coastline near Agnes Waters.
On land adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and just north of the Deepwater National Park this spectacular reserve protects dense wetlands and threatened vine forests.
To cover around 400 metres allow about 45-minutes and keep an eye out for butterflies and coloured fungi while keeping your ears open for frog calls as you pass through their habitat.
