Taghannock Falls, Upstate NY in the Finger Lakes region
Taghannock Falls is a series of spectacular waterfalls where a feeder creek cuts through the limestone layers over a 2 mile course into Lake Cayuga, upstate New York. The video begins at the upper falls... from an old railroad trestle, then down the gorge, along the trail... eventually meeting the huge, natural carved bowl where the highest single fall occurs at his point, less than 1/2 mile from the lake...

Oak Harbor on Cayuga Lake, Trumansburg, New York in the Finger Lakes Region
Oak Harbor is twelve gorgeous building lots in a very special lakefront homeowners association bordering the 800-acre Taughannock Falls State Park. Lot owners share almost 300 feet of Cayuga Lake shore line. The vision of Oak Harbor is to foster the accessibility of lake home living by sharing the cost of maintenance and taxes amongst an association of non-lakefront lot owners.
Comprising thirty acres of mixed mature hardwoods and conifers, the property is home to deer, turkey, red fox, loon, and a long-time resident red-tailed hawk. Lots range in size from 1.40 to 2.53 acres; most have grades suitable for spacious lower level walkouts and many offer panoramic views of Cayuga Lake.
Located just two miles from the Village of Trumansburg shops and services and the highly regarded school district, the easy commute to Ithaca is via State Route 89, a lovely highway along Cayuga Lake's west shore. This is the opportunity to live in the solitude at Oak Harbor while being close to entertainment, professional services, shopping and museums in Ithaca and the convenience and charm of Trumansburg.
Year-round accessibility to your home at Oak Harbor is ensured by a broad paved town-owned road that winds from Route 89 to the lake shore. Lots to the north of this road border a dramatic, slate-lined gorge. The southern lots border Taughannock Falls State Park whose hiking trails offer spectacular views and unique geological formations including the 215-foot Taughannock Falls, 33 feet higher than Niagara.

Taughannock Falls - Taughannock Falls State Park, NY
This is a short video of clips and pictures of the easy hike to Taughannock Falls. While in Ithaca, NY for my cousin's wedding, some of the relatives and I took a short day trip to Taughannock Falls State Park. I first visited this park with my family over a decade ago. On that March day the water level was extremely low. The creek bed was almost completely dry and Taughannock Falls was little more than drips over wet rock. Fortunately for us it rained the day prior. Taughannock Creek was flowing well, but most of the bedrock was still exposed. Compared to the tree-covered trail, it is much more fun walking on the grooved creek bedrock beneath 200- to 400-foot cliffs. The 0.75-mile starts beside Little or Lower Falls, ~20 feet high, then follows the mostly flat creek upstream. There is a pretty bridge at the waterfall cirque exit and a large concrete overlook at the head of the massive pool. Taughannock Falls is a 215-foot single-drop falls through a deep V-notch in the gorge. The waterfall is advertised as the tallest single-drop in the Northeast and East depending on sources. Falls Creek Falls, TN is typically considered taller. Either way this is a beautiful waterfall and next time I'll have to include the rim trails to see all of the overlooks at Upper Falls.

Visiting Finger Lakes, The Finger Lakes Region, Central New York, United States
The Finger Lakes are a group of eleven long, narrow, roughly east-west lakes in a region called the finger lakes region in Central New York in the United States. This region is defined as a bioregion. They are a popular tourist destination.
The lakes' shapes reminded early map-makers of human fingers, and the name stuck. Cayuga (435 feet, 133 m) and Seneca (618 feet, 188 m) are among the deepest in the United States, with their bottoms well below sea level. The two longest are close to 40 miles long (64 km) from end to end, and never more than 3.5 miles (5.6 km) wide. Cayuga (38.1 miles) is the longest, and Seneca 66.9 square miles (173 km2) the largest in total area. For more info, visit this link:
