Virtual Road Trip - Buttertubs Pass, Simonstone to Thwaite, Yorkshire Dales
As part of our Virtual Road Trip series, we head to the bucolic Yorkshire Dales, where we travel from Simonstone to Thwaite.
Tasked with finding the best roads in the UK, an obvious starting pointing was Buttertubs Pass. Once the host for the 2014 Tour de France, we knew this road wouldn’t disappoint. Watch as winding tarmac effortlessly folds into the rolling Yorkshire countryside.
It’s so good the main motoring man himself, Jeremy Clarkson, rated it England’s “only truly spectacular road”.
Use your virtual reality headset to experience the ride in full 360 degrees. Alternatively, you can enjoy the trip on your desktop, tablet or mobile.
Do you prefer driving in the fast lane, or going slow and steady? You can speed up or slow down the journey to suit your preference – simply click ‘Settings’ and select ‘Speed’.

North England I Lake District I Yorkshire Dales I Peak District I A Couples Journey by Motorcycle
The North of England is home to some of the UK’s most stunning countryside – with The Yorkshire Dales, The Lake District National Park and Northumberland all within this breath-taking area.
We've made this Journey in Summer 2018. It was the first time together with my wife on a Motorbike for longer than 2 days. Since this vacation we really found love for traveling by bike.In 2019 we travelled across Europe for six weeks on our trusted Africa Twin. Traveling by bike has become our favorite style of traveling.
In this movie I used drone scenes from other YouTube
channels
in addition to my own drone footage.Everyone I asked for the permission was immediately ready to help. Thanks to all

Motorcycle Ride to Tan Hill via Buttertubs Pass including Drone footage, Fat Lad on a Bike
In this episode we ride through the Yorkshire Dales National Park through Bolton Abbey onto Burnsall where we stop off at the Red Lion Hotel and Manor House.
After a very scenic break we continue on through Grassington and onto Kettlewell where we have another quick break.
Next its onto Hawes and then ride the Buttertubs Pass where we stop and look at the 20-metre-deep (66 ft) limestone potholes called the Buttertubs. It is said that the name of the potholes came from the times when farmers would rest there on their way to market. During hot weather they would lower the butter they had produced into the potholes to keep it cool.
And finally this amazing route of breathtaking roads and scenery finishes at the Tan Hill Inn.
The Tan Hill Inn is the highest inn in the British Isles at 1,732 feet (528 m) above sea level.
And makes a good subject for the DJI Mavic Pro drone footage I managed to take. Enjoy !!! AND PLEASE SUBSCRIBE BELOW

DRIVING IN YORKSHIRE DALES, SLOW TV STYLE
Driving from Kettlewell to Buckden, in North Yorkshire, England. Filmed on a fine sunny day the road passes through classic dry stonewall countryside.
These villages are in Upper Wharfedale, so called becuase the River Wharfe runs through this valley, locally known as a Dale. Wharfedale is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, an area of England with incredible scenery, ranging from verdant green fields and pretty villages to rugged, moorland hilltops.
The film is largely un-edited,. The palyback speed has been slowed to make viewing a little easier and the sound significantly lowered.
