A look at the tranquil grounds of the Byodo-in Temple, Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii.
The Byodo-In Temple on Oahu is a replica of a 900-year-old Buddhist Temple in Kyoto, Japan. The setting on Oahu in the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park with the Ko'olau mountains in the background is spectacular. The Temple is open to everyone and, though I am not a Buddhist, I appreciated its beauty and thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
This place is full of life and flowing streams of koi fish and a 20 foot tall golden buddha which sits at the center of the Temple. If you are looking to have a place to meditate,come here and fully engage yourself in peace and tranquility.

The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Byodo-In Temple in O'ahu is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple, a United Nations World Heritage Site in Uji, Japan.
The Byodo-In Temple is a non-practicing Buddhist temple which welcomes people of all faiths to worship, meditate or simply appreciate its beauty.

The temple grounds are often used for wedding ceremonies for Hawaiians or visitors from Japan.
The Temple grounds are a lushly landscaped paradise nestled in a cleft of the pali and are home to wild peacocks and hundreds of Japanese koi carp. The beautiful grounds include a large reflecting pond, meditation niches, and small waterfalls. Visitors describe this destination as beautiful, peaceful, and restful.
The TV series Hawaii Five-O and Magnum, P.I. featured several episodes where the temple is incorporated into the plot. The temple and its gardens also appeared in an episode of the ABC series Lost, House of the Rising Sun in season one as the home of Sun's father.
The Byodo-In Temple is a Hawaii State Landmark. When you visit the Byodo-In Temple, you are truly experiencing one of Hawaii’s best kept secrets

The Byodo-In Japanese Temple at Kahaluu is located at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. The Buddhist temple is quite large and was built as a scale replica of a temple in Uji, Japan. The temple sits beneath Ko'olau Mountain. The Temple grounds are a lushly landscaped eden nestled in a cleft of the pali mountain and are home to wild peacocks, black swans and hundreds of Japanese koi carp. The beautiful, meticulously groomed grounds include a large reflecting pond, meditation niches, and small waterfalls. There is a huge bell out front, visitors are invited to ring the bell before entering. The place gives a peaceful and restful feeling until the screaming kids and yelling tourists come along.

ハワイ州オアフ島ヴァレー・オブ・ザ・テンプルズ・メモリアル・パーク内（墓地）に建立された平等院テンプル。ご覧のように宇治平等院鳳凰堂のレプリカになっています。明治元年にはじまりました最初の日本人移民百周年を記念して、工費260万ドル、3年の歳月を費やして、1968年6月7日に落慶したそうです。
ホノルル市街からは、車で40分くらいです。おすすめの観光コースとして、朝ホノルル内のホテルを出発。ヌアヌパリの展望台（30分）→平等院テンプル（1時間ぐらいの滞在）→ポリネシア文化センター（午後からまるまる半日）が効率よく観光できます。

This impressive Japanese temple was shipped from Japan in pieces and reassembled here in Hawaii. Set in beautiful grounds with carp ponds, where peacocks and swans roam around freely. One can feed the carp by hand.
