Simon & Lorraine Freeden have over 30 years of business experience in the area. They have owned and operated Summerland Surf School since 1997 where Simon is head coach and have taught thousands of people the joys of learning to surf.
In 2009 Simon received his degree for Bachelor of Environmental Science at Southern Cross University. Simon is a qualified skipper (coxswain), kayak guide and surf coach.
Simon & Lorraine have a passion for the Australian bush, wildlife and local history and enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with customers. Their main aim is to give participants a fun, safe but adventurous experience with their professional, knowledgeable team.
Simon & Lorraine started their cruises and guided kayak tours on the Evans River in 2009 and have developed a special tour 'Cruiseykayaking' to incorporate both experiences into one. On this tour you can enjoy the scenic cruise and also try kayaking. This is now the most popular tour.
Simon & Lorraine incorporated an extensive environmental management plan for their business to achieve Advanced Eco Certification from Eco Tourism Australia for their river cruises and guided kayak tours.
Now operating in Byron Shire, cruises and guided kayak tours of the Brunswick River depart from the boat harbour at Brunswick Heads. The Brunswick River is a small, beautiful river with an interesting history and is an ideal place to run tours giving people better access from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and surrounds.
By providing quality professional and informative, fun tours on the Brunswick River we hope to give visitors a taste of what this area has to offer as well as some understanding of the aquatic ecosystem, landscapes and the environmental issues that can affect this special place. Customers will have fun with our safe supportive team and with a little education we hope that they can then appreciate our unique Australian environment and how to help preserve it.
