Leaving Naxos town, the tour visits the mainland.Galanado is the first village we come across, which offers view to the fertile fields which produce the famous naxian potato. Outside the village rises the Bellonias tower. First stop is the small village Damalas, where we visit a traditional ceramics workshop. In the same village, there is also the possibility to visit a restored traditional olive press. We continue through the fertile valley of Tragaia and passing through age-old olive, plane and oak trees, vines and fruit groves surrounded by towering summits we stop at the village Halki with its mansions and the interesting Byzantine church of Panagia Protothroni. There we visit the citrus distillery which produces the homonymous local liqueur. Then we visit the Byzantine church of Panagia Drosiani, near the village of Moni, a monument of the early Christian period with interesting frescoes, which is considered to be one of the oldest in the Balkans. The church, part of an old monastery, has a unique architectural style, with bare stone-walls, a three-part attic with dome and three adjoining chapels on the northern side with square dome bases on their roofs. Some of the frescoes that have been saved date to the 6th century, while the rest belong to the period between the 11th and 14th centuries. Next stop is Apiranthos or t’Aperathou in local dialect, is built at the foot of Mt. Fanari. Venetian towers, pretty, old two-storey houses, marble paved alleys with arches above them, picturesque squares combine to create a rare atmosphere. Apiranthos has 3 interesting museums. The Archaeological Museum mainly hosts finds of the Proto-Cycladic period, the Geological Museum features some rare and unique items among its approximately 2,000 exhibits, the Natural History Museum includes a collection of the area’s fauna, flora and a small aquarium, while the Folklore Museum displays traditional fabrics, embroidery and tools. Time for lunch at the local tavernas. One the way back, we visit the lush settings of Flerio, Melanes. The area was very important during antiquity. An aqueduct 11 kilometers long was recently discovered, a major engineering project in several historical phases, carrying water to Naxos town ensuring water supply. The ancient archaic marble quarry is also to be visited. There lies the imressive statue of Kouros, so called the “Greek”, 6,4 meters long, dated from the 7th century BC.
Ήλιδα η αρχαία μεγαλούπολη αρχηγείο των Ολυμπιακών | Ilis the ancient metropolis of Olympic games
Panagia Drosiani Naxos - Church Of Drosiani Naxos
Located 2.5km north of Halki, just below Moni, the small, peaceful Panagia Drosiani is among the oldest and most revered churches in Greece. Inside is a series of cavelike chapels. In the darkest chapels, monks and nuns secretly taught Greek language and religion to local children during the Turkish occupation. Several frescoes still grace the walls, and date from the 7th century.
Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.

Cyclades Islands in 4K, part 1 - Santorini (Firá, Museum of Prehistoric Thera), Greece
W skład archipelagu Cyklady wchodzi około 220 wysp i wysepek rozsianych na Morzu Egejskim. My odwiedzimy 8 najpopularniejszych wysp: Santorini, Naxos, Paros, Delos, Mykonos oraz Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni i Thirasia. My do portu bez problemu udajemy się kolejką gondolową.

GREECE, EXPLORING ancient (13th century) Byzantine abandoned church ⛪ outside of ATHENS
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit, briefly, this ancient Byzantine church, located around 60 kilometers south of the Greek capital of Athens. It s abandoned and lonely but its architecture is so beautiful, I estimated that it was built around the 13th century AD.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Drone Flight over Sardis: The Acropolis and its Tunnels
original .mov file, shot with a DJI Phantom 3 quadcopter
Starting at the foot of the Acropolis, this flight begins with a view of the twin spurs of sectors Field 49 and ByzFort, which are believed to be the site of the Lydian palace. Beyond them is Bin Tepe (the Tumulus of Alyattes, the largest in Turkey, is in the center of the frame), and the Gygaean Lake. After panning around the cliffs of the Acropolis, we see exposed sections of the tunnel that once connected the Acropolis with the dry streambed (Wadi B) that runs between ByzFort and Field 49. Climbing further, we see the “Flying Towers” — part of the Byzantine fortifications of the citadel — and beyond them on the horizon, the Necropolis hill and modern Sart Mustafa. We pan back to ByzFort and Field 49, before a slightly dizzying ascent. The final view reveals the entire Acropolis from the “Flying Towers” to the southern Acropolis wall and barracks. Near the center of the frame at the end, below and to the right of the Turkish flag flying from the summit, are the Lydian Acropolis North walls, part of another monumental complex, probably palatial, on the citadel.
Naxos, Greece - Apiranthos - AtlasVisual
Naxos Video Map:
The marble village, as the locals call Apiranthos, is located in the heart of the mountainous areas at the foot of Fanari Mountain. It is 25 km from the town and impressive with its medieval architecture and faith in tradition.. The main feature is the dialect of the region and the inclination of people towards the arts. The women of the region make the most beautiful textiles. Also in this area we find remarkable Byzantine churches, while the village is home to both archaeological and folklore museums. Major attractions are the towers of the Venetian rulers Sommaripa, Kastri and Bardani and the very impressive Zevgoli tower dating from the 17th century and built on a rock near the entrance of the village. Apeiranthos is a mountain village and as such does not have its own beach. However, it is within walking distance of Moutsouna and Psili Ammos Beaches.

Paros in Greece is among the most popular islands of Cyclades. Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros island is ideal for young people, romantic couples and families, too. The Parian traditional villages, particularly Naoussa, Parikia and Lefkes, are perfect samples of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed sugar houses, paved streets and blue-domed churches. The beaches are famous for the exotic water and the golden sand. The beaches on the south eastern side, such as Golden Beach and New Golden Beach, are particularly popular for windsurfing. A nice day trip from the island is the small island of Antiparos, with the crystal beaches and the relaxing atmosphere.
Parikía (Parikiá), the capital of Páros, is a beautiful Cycladic village with whitewashed cubic houses and impressive neoclassical mansions. A well preserved 13th century Venetian castle stands proudly on a hill at the centre of the village offering an amazing view of Parikía. In the capital you can also admire an important ecclesiastical monument, the 6th century church of Panayia Ekatontapyliani, also called Katapoliani. The name “Ekatontapylianí” means the church with 100 gates (“Ekató Pýles” in Greek), one of which is a secret one! Don’t miss the chance to visit the baptistery (4th century AD), one of the best preserved baptisteries in the Orthodox East, and the Byzantine Museum. The Parikía Byzantine Museum is housed on the ground floor of the church. Its exhibits include icons, wood-carved iconostases and other heirlooms from various monasteries and churches on the island.

IZMIR: Ancient GREEK STATUES and JEWELRY, the ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM (TURKEY) ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit The Izmir Archeology Museum (Turkish: İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi) which is an archeology museum in Izmir, Turkey and which contains a number of artifacts from around the Gulf of Izmir. Most of the artifacts, which include jewelry, busts, statues, statuettes, tools, and various eating and cooking utensils, come from the Bronze Age, or from the Greek and Roman periods.
Izmir is a city on Turkey’s Aegean coast. Known as Smyrna in antiquity, it was founded by the Greeks, taken over by the Romans and rebuilt by Alexander the Great before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Today, its expansive archaeological sites include the Roman Agora of Smyrna, now an open-air museum. The hilltop Kadifekale, or Velvet Castle, built during Alexander’s reign, overlooks the city.
Turkey is a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia with cultural connections to ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Cosmopolitan Istanbul, on the Bosphorus Strait, is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, with its soaring dome and Christian mosaics, the massive 17th-century Blue Mosque and the circa-1460 Topkapı Palace, former home of sultans. Ankara is Turkey’s modern capital.

Athens: The Cycladic Museum of Art
The Museum of Cycladic Art houses one of the most complete private collections of Cycladic art worldwide.
The Cyclades constituted a “circle” of islands in the Agean surrounding the sacred island of Delos, including Naxos, Ios, Mykonos, and Thira (Now Santorini). Cycladic culture began in 3300 BC, when it was increasingly influenced by Minoan Crete, finally ending in 1500 after the eruption of Santorini.
The iconic pose of Cycladic art has some antecedents but the classic pose of a figure, mostly female, with arms crossed below her breasts has inspired artists through the ages up to Giacometti and Henry Moore. This museum has the finest, life sized sculptures with this pose.
Greek Art in the museum is not displayed in complete chronological order but begins with Bronze Age proto-geometric art from Attica, Mycenae, and art from The Minoan Civilization in Crete.
The geometric period begins in Attica after the “Greek Dark Ages” in about 900 BC. It is identified by geometric patterns and figures made up from triangular shapes.
This period lasted until The Archaic period in 750 BC. Archaic from archaios in Greek means “old.” This period lasted until the end of The Persian Wars in 480 BC.
After the wars, the classical period begins, which gave rise to the apex of Greek Sculpture and Architecture, including The Parthenon and Temple of Poseidon, built in the middle of The Fifth Century BC.
Shaking hands is a common motif on funerary steles.
After Phillip of Macedon conquered Athens in 323 BC, the period is called “Hellenistic.”
The Cypriot Art in this museum is housed in curious surroundings. The pottery is presented in ten cases, covering a wide spectrum from the mid-third Millennium BC to Late Antiquity.
In the Chalcolithic period (3900-2500 BC) a considerable number of highly stylized human figurines were produced in Cyprus.
A wave of Greek Settlement took place following the Bronze Age collapse of Mycenaean Greece from 1100 to 1050 BC. Cypress was under the control of Persia until the end of The Persian Wars, which helps explain why their art differed from the rest of Greece until that time.

You NEED to Visit SYMI ???????? Greece's Best Small Island.
In this week’s video we visit Symi, Greece! A small, relatively unknown (and beautiful) island which is a part of the Dodecanese islands (not too far from Rhodes).
To start things off we climb 500 steps to the very top of the island for amazing views of almost all of Symi. You can see down the main town but also to the small village on the other side of the hill. There’s a church at the very top. While here we flew the drone for some even better views of Symi.
After making our way back down the town, we walk around and explore. We check out the main port, the sponge stores as well as the historic town clock.
Lastly we head to a beach bar called Petalo where they have beach beds set up along the water, so you can lounge and swim (and also get food and drinks).
ABOUT SYMI
Symi is a Greek island, part of the Dodecanese island group. It’s known for its beaches, an annual music festival and for the harbor at Symi Town, surrounded by colorful neoclassical houses. On the southwest coast, the 18th-century Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis is a major Greek Orthodox pilgrimage site with a Byzantine museum.
