Brisbane Art Gallery Owner: Shen Yun Beyond Belief
The curtains opened to a full house at Brisbane's Lyric Theatre on Saturday evening, 2nd February, as Shen Yun Performing Arts showcased classical Chinese dance, delighting audience members.
Troy Williams owns an art gallery in Brisbane and was a Gold Medal ballroom dancer.
[Troy, Owner of C Gallery]:
The artistic merits go well beyond belief. Not just from like, to be able to get the expression on the face, the tiny little details of the fine lines, the fans being twirled -- that takes years -- and yet to be able tell a story and do it without looking like technically carrying out a performance is just amazing.
Diana Andrews works for a radio station on the Sunshine Coast, an hour north of Brisbane and was impressed with what she saw.
[Diana Andrews, Marketing, Noosa Community Radio]:
The show was spectacular, it was outstanding.
Like many audience members, Ms Andrews commented on Shen Yun's costumes.
[Diana Andrews, Marketing, Noosa Community Radio]:
The costumes were fantastic! The colours—unbelievably beautiful. Really, you've done a wonderful job, breathtakingly beautiful. I haven't seen anything like that. I have been to a lot of ballets and shows but that would have to be on my A-list.
And would she recommend it to anyone in particular?
[Diana Andrews, Marketing, Noosa Community Radio]:
Everybody, I'd recommend it to everybody, from babies to grandparents, it would suit any age and any genre, honestly, it was wonderful!
Shen Yun Performing Arts heads to New Zealand before returning to Australia for shows in Sydney and Canberra.

Thought provoking 'CAR WASH BRUSHES' ART EXHIBIT in BRISBANE'S ART GALLERY (Australia) ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Here's a very strange exhibit, made out of car wash brushes, by the Italian artist Lara Favaretto displayed in Brisbane's Art Gallery, Australia. Very interesting, some people would watch it for a long time!! Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Brisbane is the capital and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of 2.3 million, and the South East Queensland urban conurbation, centred on Brisbane, encompasses a population of more than 3.4 million.

Gallery Owner Supports International Art Exhibition
The C Gallery in Brisbane, Australia, features mostly works by Australia's leading hand blown glass artists. But for the next two weeks, owner and curator Troy Williams will be displaying 'The Art of Zhen Shan Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance) Exhibition' which he believes will give a unique insight into the spiritual practice of Falun Gong and the ongoing persecution of practitioners in China.
[Troy Williams, C Gallery Owner and Curator]:
Given the practice, the persecution, I'm really big on human rights issues. I want to bring it forward.
In a media release, Mr Williams said, The exhibition deals with the terrifying ordeals people—including the artists themselves —have gone through and will help to raise awareness of what is perhaps the world's largest non-violent movement.
[Troy Williams, C Gallery Owner and Curator]:
The whole point of my gallery is to evoke emotion in someone and also to send messages and there's no greater way to do that I think these days than with art.
The opening night drew a crowd of people including a number of established Brisbane-based artists.
Helen Tainsh is a painter and ceramicist.
[Helen Tainsh, Painter and Ceramicist]:
It's just so overwhelmingly beautiful one way and it has a very, very powerful story, very powerful.
Natalie Taylor, a visual artist and printmaker, described the impact of one painting of a child made homeless by the persecution.
Natalie Taylor, Visual Artist and Printmaker]:
I've been quite moved by it. I was particularly moved by the little girl with the key, latch key and the tears. I felt enormous empathy for her plight, to be so alone and so forlorn and forgotten, but it was oh, very moving.
The name of the exhibition incorporates the principles of Falun Gong—Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Art collector Paul Roussell said he couldn't understand how these could be seen as threatening.
[Paul Roussell, Art Collector]:
I can't understand why a government would feel threatened by people who believe in the three guiding principles of Falun Gong as I've come to learn about them for the first time today.
Mr Williams says he has a do-whatever-necessary attitude. Judging by the response to the opening night of this exhibition, he has done exactly that.
