A DAY AT CFB COLD LAKE
While visiting my daughter in CFB Cold Lake Alerta I went to the flight line to watch the action. Missions as well as training touch and goes were the order of the day. All though cold dark and overcast, I managed to sit out there and fire away with my Canon Rebel 3TI. It was awesome. Hornets, Hawks Alphas and Griffins entertained me for hours. One fellow in his CF 18 came around and did a high speed pass under 500 ft and pulled up then went into a right hand turn. The vapour was visible on his wings. I know I am a train guy but my friend Moe wanted me to post this for his model aircraft buddies. Enjoy.

This video is about my friend Steve and I riding to Cold Lake Alberta.
Cold Lake is North about 3.5 - 4 hours away from Edmonton depending how many time you stop for gas. Steve and I were on our way there to see the Cold Lake Air show hosted by CFB cold Lake. What what Ive heard its a really good air show as they have it every year and have never gotten the chance to go. Im a big fan of military jets and at cold lake CFB is the Military airforce base.
Riding there for the Sunday show was tough due to the winds and rain on the way, but the air show was still on.

Canada's new Australian fighter jets to call 4 Wing Cold Lake home
Canada’s CF-18 numbers have dropped by more than half to 76 aircraft from a peak of 138 but the Liberal government in June last year announced plans to buy 88 new fighter aircraft in a project that could cost as much as $19 billion.
“It is anticipated that the supplemental aircraft will be in service for several years, sufficient to ensure the capability gap is filled until the transition to the permanent CF-18 replacement that commences in the second half of the 2020s is complete.”

Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake (IATA: YOD, ICAO: CYOD), commonly abbreviated CFB Cold Lake, is a Canadian Forces Base located in the City of Cold Lake, Alberta. It is operated as an air force base by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and is one of two bases in the country housing the CF-18 Hornet fighter, the other being CFB Bagotville. Its primary RCAF lodger unit is 4 Wing, commonly referred to as 4 Wing Cold Lake.

This video is about the Cold lake air show. This was the best air show Ive ever been too as of yet, they had so many jets there flying and was so awesome to see, I will be going every year from now on.
The weather wasn't too good but it was still awesome to have been there, its my wish to be able to fly in a f15, f16, or f18 hornet, hopefully one day that will happen.

Tip# Bring a lawn chair to sit on as standing for the entire show will make you feel 95 years old.
