This is Essex, CT
This is Essex, CT One of the very special things about Essex is that we are 1 town 3 villages. So, that’s Essex Village, Centerbrook and Ivoryton. And each village brings something special to the table.
If I had to say what the core of this community is, why people live here, I think it’s probably the pace which is definitely relaxed. Certainly one can’t help but have feeling and appreciation for history. The history of this place and the history of this country.

Second Best Trails in Connecticut? Mountain Biking Cowles Park in East Granby, CT
Today, we’re riding the trails in Cowles Park in East Granby, Connecticut. According to singletracks.com Cowles is the second highest rated trail system in the state, so of course I couldn’t resist the opportunity to check this place out.
Hey guys.
My buddy Ed gave us what he called the “full tour” which, as you could probably guess, took us to nearly all of the major trails within the park.
Most of what I’m calling the named trails are marked with a sign, but it isn’t clear to me how you would find them without help.
There you go you got it. Awesome! Celebratory wheelie!
As much as I tried I could not find any mountain bike specific maps of Cowles. That means you’ll probably want to find someone who knows the park to show you around. Luckily the local riders we met were super friendly and happily told us about their favorite spots to ride.
But let’s take a look at a few of my favorite spots we rode, starting with Smaug’s Lair and Keg Roller. These two trails were the first of many long, fast descents which in my mind are the staple features for Cowles.
Yeah!
Yeah just popped my chain off.
Come on.
Another surprisingly fantastic trail we rode was Toboggan Run. It’s short, but you can really open up and lean in.
Well I did expect it to be so fast. All of a sudden I'm like alright let's do it!
And before we get to the last of my favorite trails, let’s talk a little bit about the vast network of connector trails. These trails aren’t cool enough to get their own names, but they do criss cross and run along the Metacomet hiking trail which means you best be prepared to work. Keep your eyes peeled because there are hidden gems all over the place that you won’t want to miss.
And finally let’s take a brief look at Inside Job. Inside Job had the most variety out of all the trails we rode, offering fast downhill sections, punchy climbs, and a few technical features along the way.
So what do you think? Is Cowles the second best trail system Connecticut has to offer? And how do you pronounce Cowles; coals or cow-les? Let me know in the comments below.
Before we leave I want to thank Ed for making this ride happen, give shoutout to everyone we met along the way, and of course thank you so much for watching! If you liked this video, consider giving it a thumbs up and maybe even subscribing. Now it’s your turn, get out there and ride!

Fall Foliage (Autumn Travel) - Litchfield Hills, Connecticut
The Litchfield Hills are the rolling foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, located near the historic town of Litchfield, Connecticut. The Litchfield Hills are perfect for the fall color seekers. The small town offers everything you need with a colorful backdrop. What you will see is an amazing view of red, yellow and orange rolling over the countryside.
In the hills you can hike and bike on the many available trails that will take you up close to the fall foliage. You can also see the hills and colors by taking one of the beautiful scenic drives. Litchfield is very beautiful in the fall because there are orange leaves, yellow leaves and red leaves, too.
Lake Waramaug is a great place to view the colors and have a fun drive. If you head north, you will see a picturesque covered bridge and in West Cornwall. The fall is also a great time to go wine-tasting in these vibrant hills. Check out Haight-Brown Vineyard, located on Chestnut Hill. Not only it is Connecticut's first established winery, but you can also get local cheeses here.
For history, architecture and great autumn views, check out Topsmead State Forest. Antiquing is also a fun activity for a fall day. The Litchfield area provides great shops downtown as well as cool places scattered outside. Now, if you are looking for a bite to eat, try a place off the beaten path called Wood's Pit Bar be Que, a Mexican Cafe. Now this is definitely the type of place you need a local to recommend for you. I am Mike Camerlengo, showing you Litchfield Hills.

Bike Ride on the Farmington River Trail, Unionville to Collinsville CT
This is a wide angle video of a bicycle ride on the Farmington River Trail section of the Rails to Trails paths in Connecticut. This ride is from Rt 177 in Unionville CT to Rt 179 in Collinsville CT. This is a nice ride with a slight uphill grade most of the way. It passes across River Road and then under Rt 4/Rt 179 through a tunnel. The section of trail after the parking area near the tunnel up to the next parking area is a newer section of trail. After this second parking area, near where Rt 4 turns left and heads up the hill to Burlington, there is an older section of trail with scenic river views and small trestles converted to path bridges to go over the many brooks and streams feeding into the Farmington River. This older section is unfortunately in poor condition with tree roots pushing up the asphalt, which leads to a very rough ride from time to time. The final portion of the ride is along quiet Arch Street leading to the converted train trestle bridge which crosses the river into Collinsville Center. This ride is approximately 5 miles and 1/2 hour on a mountain bike. Enjoy! See the ride going the other way from Unionville to Brickyard Rd in Farmington here:

Hi, Jonathan Carbutti here with the Jonathan Carbutti Home Selling Team in Carbutti Real Estate, and welcome to my town of Wallingford, Connecticut.
Wallingford is a very special town to me since I grew up here. I'm raising a family here, my business is here, and I also think that Wallingford's probably one of the best kept secrets in Connecticut.
You know I have never been in a community that comes together more than Wallingford does. We are probably the largest non-metropolitan chamber in the state of suburban chamber, and that's because of the people and the businesses that are here. I mean look around you, it's a
beautiful town aesthetically. The walkability factor here. The historical architecture here. It's like a walk in the park, walking around the center of Wallingford. It's beautiful. I think we probably have better restaurants in such a close proximity than most, any other town surrounding here.
Wallingford has a surprising amount of open space available, and rural space. Yes you have a lot of thriving shops and restaurants in the Downtown Wallingford area that's very walkable. But when you go to the outskirts of Wallingford, you have everything from vineyards to open space. Hiking trails, you have trout fishing that's stocked by the state of Connecticut.
My name's Ernie St Amant. I lived in Wallingford my whole life. So it's great to grow up inside of a typical New England town. Everybody knows your name.
Public school system here is fabulous. We have a great superintendent. They are constantly coming up with fresh ideas, bringing the latest cutting-edge classes to our town and our high schools.
One of the little known facts about Wallingford is we have one of the most prestigious private high schools in the whole country here called Choate Rosemary Hall. It's actually larger than
most college campuses. By a lot of famous public figures, actors, right down to past presidents and their children attend this high school to this day.
Another huge draw to Wallingford is our 69,000 sq. ft. plus public library. You guys haven't seen a public library and the resources that they offer until you've stepped foot in the Wallingford Public Library.
Wallingford's drawing a lot of new businesses right down to mom and pop sandwich shops like The Eatery. Independent bakeries like Alyssa's Cakery, and we even have brew houses like Front Porch Brewery and Cliffside Brewing. And we even have a hard cider place called New England Cider Company. One of the other surprises here in Wallingford is that we have not one, but we have two vineyards. We have Gouveia Vineyards which is on a rolling 120 acres, and we also have a smaller vineyard called Paradise Hills. And even though they are very different and unique in their own right, they're within walking distance of each other.
Wallingford's conveniently located between New Haven, Connecticut and Hartford. As a professional, my job takes me all over the state. And with respect to where we live in Wallingford, we can really get anywhere in the state within 20 minutes.
Wallingford has a brand new train station with a high speed train line up to Hartford, Springfield, and Boston. As far as the housing in Wallingford, there's a real variety of housing for everybody.
We have everything from antique homes to houses built in 1776, down by Choate Rosemary Hall, to large mansions up on Turnberry Road near the vineyard overlooking the landscape up there. We have excellent affordability if you're a first time homebuyer here. People are surprised at how much house they can get for their money, as opposed to some of the surrounding towns. And also, if you're an upgrade buyer you can also get a lot of house for your money. Even new construction in Wallingford, people are surprised.
I just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to watch our town video tour, and if you guys have any question about the town of Wallingford, even if it's just a great restaurant to eat at or a local barber, or any questions at all. Give me a call at the number of the bottom of the screen or shoot me a quick email and I'll get right back to you. Thanks for watching.

Old Indian Cave at Westwoods, Guilford, CT
Filmed April 23, 2017. This cave is on the Orange Circle Trail, best accessible from trailhead at the western end of Three Corners Road. From the trailhead, take the Red Triangle trail in and turn Right onto the Orange Circle trail and head north. The cave is about 2000 feet up the Orange Circle trail. In the video, I'm walking south back to the cave from the power lines. This is a moderate hike with a couple of sections of ascent/descent over rocks.
