I went on a holiday with my family to visit old friends of my mom and dad.
We went cliff-diving, took a boat tour, visited the Quasimodo bar and even went to de Pego Do Inferno! The entire week was a delight!

A Vila de Cabanas de Tavira situa-se no concelho de Tavira, junto à Ria Formosa. A sua origem remonta a 1734, data da construção das primeiras cabanas, que constituíam residências sazonais para os pescadores. Foi elevada a vila em 2004. A sua padroeira é Nossa Senhora do Mar.
Na Marginal de Cabanas foi introduzido um passadiço com 800 m de comprimento, que proporciona vistas panorâmicas da vila, da ria e do mar.

A Capela de Nossa Senhora do Mar foi inaugurada em 1994. Em 2008, foi remodelada e ampliada tendo como conceção arquitetónica a imagem de um barco.
O Forte de São João da Barra ou Fortaleza da Conceição situa-se numa extremidade da Marginal de Cabanas, junto à Ria Formosa. Este Monumento de Interesse Público foi mandado construir em 1670, pelo Capitão Geral do Reino, o Conde de Vale de Reis. Atualmente, encontra-se adaptado a Turismo da Natureza.

Cabanas de Tavira is a small village renowned for fishing. Away from the main tourist areas it has many shops, bars and restaurants. Cabanas Island is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region with six miles of fine golden sand, it is perfect for pleasant walks beside the calm, warm water.
Golf enthusiasts have a choice of five nearby courses: Benamaur Golf (300m), Quintada Ria (6km), Monte Rei (8km), Castro Marin (15km) and Isla Canela (20km).
Cabanas de Tavira region is part of the protected area Ria Formosa, where you can enjoy the wonderful variety of wildlife.
Tavira, once considered the capital of the Algarve is full of history, including a Roman bridge, XVIII century buildings, a castle, and numerous churches (37 in total). The picturesque town of Tavira is about 4 miles from the villa and the international airport of Faro is 25 minutes driving.
