This is video of Cabarete Dominican Republic, located approximately 40 km east of Puerto Plata and 20 km east of the POP Airport, is a charismatic little beach town that attracts sports enthusiasts and sun worshippers from all over the world. Until the late 1980's, this town was not much of a town at all, but a vacation area for a few Dominicans from Moca and Santiago. A couple of foreigners discovered the ideal windsurfing conditions in Cabarete Bay, and this secret spot didn't stay secret very long. Since the late 80's the town has hosted both professional and amateur international windsurfing competitions. In 2000, kitesurfing started to take off, and the town has hosted international professional competitions every year since. Cabarete is considered by many to be one of the top places in the world to windsurf and kitesurf, but that's not all that can be done here. You can surf, mountain bike, horseback ride, go canyoning, and take part in so many other adventures, or just simply enjoy the fun in the sun to be found here

Day trip to one of my favorite beaches! Cabarete, Dominican Republic
I'm a genius and realized that I didn't have a memory card in my camera right when we arrived at the beach, so this is filmed on my iphone X. I LOVE Cabarete! It's about 20 minutes away from Sosua and close to Puerto Plata. I visited with some friends a week or so ago, and put together a quick video showing off what the beach here looks like. It is a super popular place for water sports like kitesurfing, windsurfing, surfing, snorkeling, and more! There are a ton of great restaurants and cute little stores along the beach, mostly aimed at tourists. There are also many people walking up and down the beach offering souvenirs, massages, hair braiding, and food!
Luckily, Cabarete is only about 2 hours from Santiago de los Caballeros, where I live, so it does not take too long to get there (especially if you have a fast driver haha) There are a lot of cheap hotels and hostels as well, and cool waterfalls and outdoor excursion companies offering awesome trips nearby.

Cabarete Beach Dominican Republic | An Expat Mom's Perspective
After a few final thoughts on our visit to Sosua right next door, I'm offering my perspective on Cabarete, Dominican Republic. We were able to enjoy some nice relaxing time at our hotel and in the town nearby. While my short walk through the main part of town didn't reveal much of Cabarete's character, I would be interested in returning to learn more about what else makes it special. Leave a comment if you'd like to know too.

CABARETE BEACH, BUYING A LARIMAR BRACELET, AND THE HOOD
Buying jewelry on the strip of Cabarete beach is quite easy. You don't have to accept the first price. In fact it is almost expected that a negotiation will go down. I paid $10 for this bracelet and I like it. Looking back on it, because the stones were not precious, and are more chip stone, I feel I should have negotiated a little more.
In any case, I didn't pay much, and I do enjoy the bracelet. It's a fun piece to match with jeans, t-shirts, other silver accessories or even gold.

Sorry for the delay with posting! Chris and I went to Cabarete on the north coast of the dominican republic! It's one of my favorite places in the DR, and is a very popular tourist destination. It's insanely sports like kite surfing, wind boarding, surfing, etc. We took Caribe tours from Santiago, and then took Metro Tours on the way back. It has a bunch of great bars and restaurants, and lots of excursions if you like that too! It was such a relaxing weekend and I feel so lucky to get to have these beautiful times in such an amazing place. I got a terrible sunburn buttt it was worth it. If you have any questions about Cabarete, let me know.
