Tour of Cabela's
My brothers and I finally took a tour of the new Cabela’s that was built in Cheektowaga New York. We spent the better part of the afternoon looking around the store, there is a lot of amazing taxidermy and robust departments for Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Hiking, and Power Sports.
The store has been open for about six months and we were excited to finally see what they had for us to play with. The store is excellent and we enjoyed looking at the Backpacks, camping equipment, Firearms, Metal Detectors, Fishing poles, and the exquisite Taxidermy displays they built. The only thing I found more impressive than all the exhibits and cool gear was the staff. The people working in each department were so informative and fun to talk to, it made for a positive experience. If you are into any sort of outdoors sports I highly suggest checking out your local Cabela’s.

Trip Cabellas in Wheeling West Virginia to buy an Ice Auger
Every few years I go to Cabellas in Triadelphia (Wheeling- is nearby and maybe better known)West Virginia. It is the biggest outdoor store I have ever seen, with the possible exception of the Denver Colorado Flagship REI. The store is so big that it has it's own exit off of Interstate 70 (Cabellas Drive), and a Cabellas Water Tank too. There are numerous departments; hunting, fishing, backpacks, boating, clothing, camouflage, etc. I enjoy seeing the highly curated taxidermied animals (dead animals) arranged in various ways. The store is as much of a museum as it is a store. There is even an entire, very large Dead Animal Room devoted solely to deer, called White Tail World. I also liked the blue bear (black bear with a greenish blue tint- maybe it was just the lighting, and the bear with his nose in a honeycomb). My favorite are of course, is where the animals are alive, in the Tunnel of Fish (at least that's what I call it). The outside of the store looked like something out of a movie, with the 6 or so of freshly fallen snow. The customer service could use a boost, as I've certainly seen better. At least the fellow in the backpack department was very friendly. I was disappointed that I could not find a replacement camo. pack. You've probably seen some of my videos, where I hike, bike, etc. and have the small camouflage Cabellas branded backpack. It turns out that there are no backpacks resembling the camouflage camelback that I have had for over 3 years. Just recently, the backpack strap in the front broke. (I thought the camo. pack was indestructible ). Many things that were Cabellas Brand are now some other brand. I guess, I will be looking online to find a replacement for the camo. pack. The drive home (not shown) was interesting as I decided to take a random road (West Virginia 88) North from Interstate 70, expecting that I would reach US 22, just West of the Pennsylvania State line. I drove for several hours, before finally hitting a road that I recognized, I think it was PA 980 or something South of US 22. Although the store closed at 9PM (seems a little early for such a large store), I did not arrive home until after midnight. I watched the temperature drop, particularly driving through Washington County, PA- to as low as 2 degrees Farinheit (-17 C). The next day, I unbox the $100 ice auger, but don't actually get to try it out until February 3, 2019 at Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park. The Moraine State Park Video is coming, however it was not possible for be to video myself making a hole in the ice, because all I have is a cell phone, which is incredibly awkward to use and makes many types of videos impossible. I did get lots of footage of cross country skiing on the ice at Lake Arthur, may be the only chance I get it 2018. (Stay Tuned)
