4. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Adolfo Hurtado, general manager of Cono Sur:
We conclude that it was very logical and very obvious to pay tribute to our employees. The success of a wine depends on the passion and love that each worker puts in his daily work. And we decided that the bicycle represented those workers.

6. Grapes in vineyard
7. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Adolfo Hurtado, general manager of Cono Sur:
Our intention with the tour, was always to promote our wines outside of France, in the markets of relevance for us in terms of volume: England, Ireland, Holland, etc. And in that sense, and also legally in France, we are not allowed to promote our wines on the French soil.
8. Bicicleta wine bottles
9. Barrels of wine
10. Hands of worker cleaning grapes
11. Various of workers cleaning vineyard
12. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Adolfo Hurtado, general manager of Cono Sur::
A wine where the tour organisers can be proud of the product being represented and meet all requirements and demand levels and quality (which) they are aspiring to, and in that sense, and especially by bicycle because the icon and the name fit this event very well. That is the reason the decision was taken to start working with us.
13. Various of workers in tractor
14. Worker's bicycle in vineyard
STORYLINE:
A Chilean wine producer has said it makes sense that one of his vintages has been chosen for promotion at the Tour de France, despite French vintners complaining about the move.
New world winery Cono Sur (Southern Cone) is celebrating being selected by the world's most famous bike race.
Its general manager, Adolfo Hurtado, said it confirms the quality of their Bicicleta (Bicycle) vintage, and that the branding of the wine is a good fit for the race.
The Amaury Sports Organisation, which organises the Tour de France, reached a sponsorship deal last year with Cono Sur to promote Bicicleta.
In France, it's illegal to promote alcohol during sporting events, so billboards for the Chilean wine will appear along the route in Tour stages that take place in Spain, Andorra and Switzerland. The deal goes through in 2017.
Meanwhile, wineries in the old world have a bitter taste in their mouths with French wine makers calling the situation intolerable.
Attempting to ease tensions, Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, met with French producers earlier this month. After the meeting, he said the producers could show their wines during warm-up events, at the start and at the end of the 21 stages.
Bicicleta was launched in 2007, and includes 13 types, including Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Malbec, Pinot Noir and Pinot Rose. It's named for their many vineyard workers mode of transport to and from the winery: on their bicycles.
The Cono Sur vineyard is based in the Colchagua Valley, about 96 miles (155 kilometers) south of the Chilean capital Santiago.
In 2015, the vineyard produced 1.3 million cases of Bicicleta. All except about one percent of that is exported.

Turismo de vino en Valle de Cachapoal
Anakena Wines
