Exploring Cades Cove - Hayride & Horseback - Great Smokey Mountains National Park
If you are looking for a beautiful spot to camp in Great Smokey Mountains National Park, we would highly recommend Cades Cove. The sites are immaculate, with paved patios and tent spots or the perfect hammock trees all around. The store is nearby and houses a cafe inside. We rode our bikes to the Cades Cove Stables. They offer horseback rides, hayrides and carriage rides around the Cades Cove 11 mile loop. We took the hayride and then hopped on some horses. It was a wonderful way to explore and learn the history of the area.

Smokemont Campground July 2016
In 1976 my parents purchased a 17' travel trailer after being invited to go camping with several families from our church. The first campground we visited was Smokemont Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and from that point we were hooked on camping. After growing up camping at Smokemont for all those years, it is still my favorite place to camp.
Smokemont campground is located five miles north of Cherokee on US 441, just inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Smokemont Campground is situated along side the Oconaluftee River. Smokemont offers group camping and 138 campsites for primitive camping with no water, power, or sewer hookups.
Smokemont Riding Stable is adjacent to the campground. They offer trail rides for ages five years and up and they welcome groups. They have a one hour, two and a half hour, and a four hour ride. Also available for any age are wagon rides. Call 828-497-2373 for rates and availability.
Things you should know:
All food, drinks, and equipment used to prepare and store food must be kept sealed in a vehicle or in a camping unit constructed of solid, non-pliable material or as otherwise directed at all times when not in use.
Only heat treated firewood which is in its original packaging and bears a certification from the USDA or a state agency may be brought into the park.
Campfires are permitted only in fire grates.
Pets are allowed in the campground but must be confined or on a six foot leash. Pets are not allowed on trails and should not be left unattended.
RV sewage must be drained at a dump station. Showers and utility hook ups are not available in the park.
Quiet hours are in effect from 10 PM to 6 AM and generator use is prohibited from 8 PM to 8 AM.
Generator use and battery charging by engine idling is prohibited in generator free areas. Generator use is prohibited in loops A, B, and C from May 15 through October 31.
Tents must be pitched on the tent pads where provided.
Bicycles are allowed and bicycle riders must comply with all traffic regulations including helmet laws and are restricted to public roads, parking areas and designated routes. The use of in-line skates, skateboards or scooters is prohibited.

Vote the great smoky mountains national park please
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a United States National Park that straddles the ridgeline of the Great Smoky Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains which are a division of the larger Appalachian Mountain chain.
The border between Tennessee to the west and North Carolina to the east runs northeast to southwest through the centerline of the park. On its route from Maine to Georgia, the Appalachian Trail also passes through the center of the park.
Before the arrival of European settlers, the area was home to the Cherokee Indians.
