NEW CLAIM: Atlantis Discovered in Southern Spain | Ancient Architects
A team of historians claim that they have discovered the location of the lost city of Atlantis, this time in southern Spain.
The ancient ruins including a huge harbour wall have been known to archaeologists for some time and they say that they were built by the ancient Romans and Greeks. But private satellite imaging firm Merlin Burrows claim to have found evidence that the site is in fact the location of a lost ancient civilisation, and specifically Atlantis.
The historical truth behind Atlantis is hotly debated, with the main sources of information being the writings of Plato and Herodotus. If it did exist, it is thought that a cataclysmic natural disaster, such as a tsunami, meteorite impact, earthquake, or all three, eventually sank the lost civilisation.

Visiting Cádiz: top sights in Cádiz, Spain
Here are the top sights you can see if you're visiting Cádiz, Spain. The Cathedral (Catedral de Cádiz), some of the plazas, the narrow maze of streets, the wind, the beaches, and more. If you're visiting Spain, here's the top 7 places to see in Madrid:
And as always, there's much more on my website
Sören Sieg: Carnaval de Cádiz, 5th movement of the Suite Cádiz (Rene Izquierdo and Cléa Galhano)
In 2018 I wrote my first suite for recorder and guitar and called it Cádiz. Cádiz is a city at the south coast of Spain, and a very special one: it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, with archaeological remains dating to 3100 years, when it was founded by the Phoenicians.
The beautiful old buildings are all still there and create a unique atmosphere. It's also a city of music: Manuel de Falla and Paco de Lucía both came from Cádiz.
My Suite Cádiz is heavily influenced by the atmosphere of this ancient Andalusian town, but also by the fact that it is the guitar that accompanies the recorder: An instrument, that I always loved and whose Spanish roots can't be separated from it. This is the final movement, dedicated to the overwhelming Carnaval de Cádiz, one of the best known and most spectacular carnivals in the world. In Cádiz the carnival is not only a matter of a few days; carnival-related activities are almost constant in the city throughout the year; there are always rehearsals, public demonstrations, and contests of various kinds. The vibrant and passionate atmosphere I wanted to create demands a lot of the players. So I would really like to thank Cléa Galhano and Rene Izquierdo for their breathtaking performance!
What you see here is the world premiere performance on June 9 2019 in the Summit Center for Arts & Innovation Performance Hall, St. Paul, Minnesota. The video was filmed and cut by the fantastic Audrey Favorito. Thank you!

Puerto Real is a seaport in Andalusia, in the province of Cadiz. As of 2010.
The town is located on the northern shore of the inner lobe of the Bay of Cadiz, on the site of the ancient Roman settlement of Portus Gaditanus. An ancient trading post, it is probably the oldest settlement on the Bay of Cadiz. It owes its modern name to the fact that it was rebuilt in 1488 by Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. Puerto Real boasts public squares and broad streets; it also has a town-hall building and a 16th-century church, which was constructed in several styles (Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque).

Sören Sieg: The Wind from the Sea. 2nd movement of Cádiz (Rene Izquierdo and Cléa Galhano)
In 2018 I wrote my first suite for recorder and guitar and called it Cádiz. My Suite Cádiz is heavily influenced by the atmosphere of this ancient Andalusian town, but also by the fact that it is the guitar that accompanies the recorder: An instrument, that I always loved and whose Spanish roots can't be separated from it. This is the second of five movements. It is about the wind from the sea, which over the centuries has carried ships from here to foreign coasts all over the world. The weltering of wind and waves is reflected in a special meter: Each bar consists of nine sixteenth-note triplets, that is, the bar is divided three times by three. Coming from a small town near the North Sea I feel very connected to the feeling of this wind from the sea... Evidently this is not an easy piece. So I would really like to thank Cléa Galhano and Rene Izquierdo for their lovely and emotional performance!

My Suite Cádiz is heavily influenced by the atmosphere of this ancient Andalusian town, but also by the fact that it is the guitar that accompanies the recorder: An instrument, that I always loved and whose Spanish roots can't be separated from it. This is the fourth movement describes the poetic illusion of the mermaid taking a bath in the ocean. It has a very special, intimate atmosphere, a melody, that I really love, and I have the feeling I never came closer to the style of my admired Johann Sebastian Bach. It is in fact very challenging to give this movement the atmosphere of simplicity and purity, that it needs. So I would really like to thank Cléa Galhano and Rene Izquierdo for their wonderful and sensitive performance!

XVII th C Manor house of Duke of Osuna in town centre of Olvera (Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain)
History and location:
Historic Manor House with three floors and two inner courtyards. It has over 940 square meters built and there are more than 20 rooms, 8 bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The house was built in sevillian baroque style in XVII th Century and it has remained practically unchanged until now. It was the summer residence of the noble family Tellez-Giron, the Dukes of Osuna. This old spanish stately house were the lords of the of Olvera Village from 1.460 to 1.843, when the family went bankrupt.
It is located in the main street of Olvera (Llana Street) and very close to the most important historical monuments, the Arabic Castle (XII – XIII th C) and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (Parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation) (XIX th C). Both are less than 300 metres from the house. The Olvera Village was declared an Historic-Artistic Town in 1.983.
Description:
The monumental entry façade has a Baroque style stone front, solid timber door and windows with its original ironworks, a stone balcony and a family crest of Dukes of Osuna.
- Ground floor: Hall with iron door, hallway, living room, study-library, kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, dining room with chimney. All these rooms have the original carved timber beams, doors and windows. Two inner courtyards and a stone well in use. Stable, larder and a little cellar that was used like a dungeon in the past.
- First floor: 6 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The ceiling of upstairs to second floor is wonderfully decorated with plaster-works and the family crest of Dukes of Osuna.
- Second floor: A lumber is in the attic and the servants lived here in the past.
Great opportunity:
It’s a unique opportunity because:
- The Manor house is a piece of the history of Spain and it’s located in one of the most beautiful historical towns of Andalusia.
- Olvera is a quiet and peaceful place to live. The hills surrounding Olvera are full of olive groves that provide the best extraction of olive oils in Andalusia.
- It’s very well connected by car with other important towns: 34 Km from Ronda (Malaga, Spain) and 112 km from Marbella (Malaga, Spain).
- The house is very spacious (940 sq.m.) and very high ceilings and could be used like a charming Hotel.

The Andalusian province is located in the southernmost part of the Spanish territory. There are a total of eight main provinces, Cadiz is one of them. Cadiz, a small port city with a population of 150,000. In 1492 Columbus sailed from here to the New World, and the 18th century civilian resistance army was the historic city where the first Spanish democratic constitution was enacted. Craddas Cathedral is a small but glamorous baroque elegance. The plaza in front of the cathedral is also a meeting place for Cadiz citizens. It is full of performances that excite travelers. It is the beginning of a pleasant Andalusian trip. It is called Andalusian market, and I do not know if you did. We are running the whole market and making the atmosphere here. So I wore an Arab costume and a valley dance. I came to Spain, I feel real.
