The Common Cup
The Common Cup is a non-profit coffee shop ran by Ken Lander and his family. The day I went to visit was Ken's 24th day in operation. As soon as I entered the door Ken greeted with a warm smile and offered me a free cup of coffee. How was I to resist. I had to choose between an Americano or Espresso so I took the Americano. Let me tell you as soon as it hit my lips I knew right then that I had the worlds best cup of coffee. Getting back to the shop, the free coffee wasn't the reason I made this visit (however it was a perk) I wanted to take his free roasting class. The whole class took about an hour but Ken made sure to go into vivid detail about the whole process. When all was said and done I felt like I took away a lot of information along with that pleasant smell that lasted my entire trip.

Casa Vida Children's Classrooms
Casa Vida is a church located in Tamarindo Guanacaste, Costa Rica, reformed in theology, totally non-religious, Christ centered and passionate for the Bible and its instruction to fulfill our purpose in God’s plan for humanity. We’ve been gathering for 6 years since we started in a coffee shop with 6 people until now with over 100 at times in weekly attendance. We are a church for everybody. We seek to present Christ and make him known.
We are blessed to have completed phase 1 of our church building project. We are so grateful for the generous donations that helped make that happen. We are now worshipping on Sundays in a beautifully constructed pavilion. Great news for the adults.
The bad news for the kids is that there is no safe place for their Sunday school class. Right now the kids are meeting at a table in the middle of a field to try to conduct class. The mothers with babies desperately search for shade from the blazing hot sun. Temperatures are averaging 90 degrees. There is usually no tent, no shade, and no grass. There’s no enclosure for the babies. Worst of all, during rainy season there will be no option for the children’s class at all because of the conditions.
Our goal is to have 2 safe, air-conditioned classrooms where we can store supplies and teach the children without being a distraction to the adults service. This would also provide a clean environment for the babies to play freely without the danger of being bitten by bugs, mosquitos, or snakes that lurk in the open field. Our area is at high risk for sicknesses carried by mosquitos. Dengue fever, Chicungunya and now Zyka are a serious concern to mothers.
The result of your donation would be a secure, comfortable environment where children living in Costa Rica can come to learn about Jesus. Your prayers and donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God bless you!
