Antarctica. An Exhibition on Alienation at the Kunsthalle Wien looks at the pattern underlying alienation – this “relationship based on the absence of a relationship.” Showing numerous contemporary artworks; the exhibition explores how the term “alienation” functions in our world today. In doing so, it also addresses the following question: What other forms of relationship to the self and to the world do we need? Before we can even begin to create something like a space supportive of self-determination and self-realization? Curators: Vanessa Joan Müller, Nicolaus Schafhausen. 25.10.2018– 17.2.2019.
Artists: Viltė Bražiūnaitė / Tomas Sinkevičius, Burak Delier, Buck Ellison, Isabella Fürnkäs, Eva Giolo, Thibaut Henz, Jan Hoeft, Hanne Lippard, Joanna Piotrowska, Jeroen de Rijke / Willem de Rooij, Jana Schulz, Andrzej Steinbach, Ingel Vaikla, Peter Wächtler, Ian Wallace, Tobias Zielony.
Antarktika.

My Vienna Trip: Museums Quartier (MQ)
The Museum Quartier Wien is one of the ten largest cultural complexes in the world.
The MuseumsQuartier unites baroque buildings, new architecture, cultural institutions of all sizes, various disciplines of art, and recreational facilities in a single spectacular location.
The spectrum ranges from large art museums like the Leopold Museum and the MUMOK (Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna) to contemporary exhibition spaces like the KUNSTHALLE wien and festivals like the Wiener Festwochen, an annual summer event this is headquartered in the MuseumsQuartier Wien. Additional highlights include the TanzQuartier, an international, state-of-the-art center for dance, the Architektur Zentrum Wien, production studios for new media, artist studios for artists-in-residence, outstanding art and cultural facilities designed for children, and a variety of other events and festivals.
The MuseumsQuartier is unequaled anywhere in the world when it comes to the breadth of cultural opportunities it offers.
The exceptional location in the heart of the city also offers all the advantages of an inner city cultural district. Terrace cafés, oases of green, bars, shops, and bookstores provide for a well-balanced infrastructure in the 60,000 square meter complex in the middle of an extraordinary setting.
Old masters and modern art, baroque and cyberspace, expeditions into the realm of the imagination, and recreation in the center of the city were never as close as in they are in the MuseumsQuartier Wien.

MYPERFECTDAY with Christian - The interactive video guide for Vienna

Deutsche Version:
Spend an arty day in Vienna with Christian Bazant-Hegemark!
The Viennese artist Christian introduces you to Vienna's artiest hotspots and shows us some highly enjoyable hangouts.
Saunter through the arty side of Austria's capital city with artist Christian. His perfect day in Vienna kicks off at The Breakfast Club (4., Schleifmühlgasse 12-14), a café run by a fellow artist and friend that offers eclectic breakfast and brunch cuisine and exceptionally personal service.
Stroll from there to the Schleifmühlgasse, where your affable red-bearded host introduces you to a string of galleries by happening local artists ranging from Georg Kargl (4., Schleifmühlgasse 5) to Christine König (4., Schleifmühlgasse 1A).
The tour de Fuss (German for foot) then swings northeast through the lovely Ressl Park at the Karlsplatz, where the magnificent Karlskirche (St. Charles Church) lies, pointing out the Kino unter Sternen, an summer open-air cinema that, as you might guess, is best attended after sundown.
Then we hop into the U-Bahn with our host for a short ride to the MuseumsQuartier where we soak in some modern culture at the Kunsthalle before swinging onto the bike and pedaling behind Christian down the Ringstraße to the MUSA Start Gallery Artothek (1., Felderstraße 6-8). Here, Vienna's young artists cut their teeth with first exhibitions.
Afterwards, Christian escorts us to his atelier in the Servitenviertel (9.) where we get an up close and personal glimpse of the working – and sitting - life of a modern artist in today's Vienna.
To wind down, Christian takes us to the Brunnenmarkt (16.), an open-air market in Ottakring, one of Vienna's most ethnically and culturally diverse neighborhoods. For starters, feast your senses on the smorgasbord of bars and restaurants that dot Yppenplatz and enjoy the colorful and exotic sights, scents, and sounds! As Christian strikes a balance somewhere between thinking, acting, and feeling, we feel enchanted … and like this will be the first of many arty days in Vienna.
