Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort
A testament to colonial architecture, Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort in Tenerife is a cluster of impeccable villas. So sublimely luxurious, you needn't step out of the resort into the Island Of The Eternal Spring. At a consistent 20C+, this UNESCO protected plot of forests, majestic cliffs and utopic beaches cries out for exploration. However, in-resort you can relax in the reading lounge or enjoy a plethora of high-adrenaline or family-friendly activities such as sailing on del Duque's very own yacht, Pámpano. Younger children love the dedicated Ents team while older siblings can relax in their own surf-style beach lounge complete with video consoles and table football. The casas ducales and villas, decorated by prestigious interior designer Pascua Ortega, mix the latest technology with maximum comfort and views of the spectacular Playa del Duque. But for a particularly opulent stay casas ducales include independent receptions and are complete with butler service. Tired muscles? Soothe them with exclusive thalassotherapy treatments at the L'Occitane spa. And when hunger strikes a choice of eight restaurants featuring a medley of global cuisines are available to satisfy the most discerning rumbling tum (and any fussy younger ones too). An adults-only lounge bar offers quiet sanctuary.

Tenerife Fun Party at Playa Real Hotel with TJT summer students
This is something we do all the time at Tenerife Job Training, trying to have all the TJT students together for a nice time out. It helps a lot to feel confortable when you are abroad for the same time, it feels great to meet people on the same situation and have friends during your time ni Tenerife, Spain.
Tenerife Restaurants - Paris Marrakesh, Playa Del Duque
Hidden in the C.C. Paris commercial centre in Playa Del Duque is the exotic Paris Marrakech Restaurant. You can choose dishes from either Lebanese or Moroccan menu (or both). The owner has a belly dancing school in Tenerife which may be where our lovely dancer learned to shake her booty. The food is delicious, service friendly and efficient and the price reasonable.
Skye looking like Tenerife
Some ‘unusual’ images from The Isle of Skye. Unusual because we experienced a heat wave during our week’s holiday whereas the two weeks before we arrived it rained every day. I have used ‘focus stacking’ in many (but not all) of the images. You can look for more information and tips about the places we visited below.
Focus stacking is a process by which the camera is mounted on a tripod and several images (usually either three or four) are taken with focus set on foreground, middle ground and background. The images are initially processed in Lightroom and then sent as layers to photoshop for alignment and blending. The final merged image can then be sent back to Lightroom for further development. There are various clips on youtube explaining the process. I was using a Fujifilm XT2 for all the images and the latest (withdrawn) firmware update provided an automatic focus stacking feature but I did it manually. A simple guide is given at the end.
Glen Brittle and the Faery Pools: This is a very busy tourist spot with a constant flow of people walking alongside the series of waterfalls and pools. This can make taking a clean image difficult but if you cross over to the other side of the stream the path is more difficult to negotiate but you will get far less of the crowd in frame. Once you have finished your visit carry on down to Loch Brittle. There is a campsite at the beach with a nice cafe plus some good views of The Cullins.
Neist Point: The classic views of the lighthouse are taken from the top of the cliff to the right of the cafe. It looks tempting to go down the step steps (which I did) and then to ascend the towering rock above the lighthouse (which I did not). I have not seen any images taken from the top of that cliff even though plenty of people go up. That tells you something.
Elgol: A pretty cove with some of the best views of The Cullins. Boat trips will take you out to see the seals and some offer your money back if you don’t see any.
Sligachan: The two bridges by the Sligachan Hotel at the head of Loch Sligachan are a photographers dream as you can get The Cullins under the arches of the old bridge (now a footbridge) as in the final image of the presentation. The problem is it is teeming with tourists. To take the last image I negotiated the boulders to get into mid stream with camera and tripod but as soon as I got the composition right a coach party descended on the shore and began taking selfies - which they have every right to do. I waited some 20 minutes for them to clear.
FOCUS STACKING
In Lightroom, identify pictures to be stacked
Performed basic adjustments to one
Synchronise with all in series by selecting all the images and selecting ‘Sync..’
With the series still selected, go to ‘Photo’ ‘Edit In’ and choose ‘open as layers in photoshop’
Photoshop will open and the layers will be imported
Select all
In ‘Edit’ choose ‘Auto Align Layers’ (select auto)
Again in ‘Edit’ choose ‘Auto Blend Layers’ (select ‘stack images’)
Command + S to save
Go back to Lightroom where the stacked image will appear as a TIFF file for further development if needed.
Sea Lounge Bar and Restaurant - Tenerife
The phrase 'ticks all the right boxes' is often over used but if your boxes are labelled beautiful, classy and chic then the Sea Lounge Bar and Restaurant in Tenerife will score 3/3 for you!
Situated in the small coastal town of Palm Mar between Los Cristianos (10 mins taxi ride) and Las Galletas (a walk along the promenade), this new kid on the block has caused quite a stir... and from the moment you walk up the steps you'll know why. It's the kind of place you can dip in and out of at any time of the day and always experience something different.

JTS | Tenerife Two | Playa Amarilla, Los Roques, El Abrigo, Puertito de Güímar - Blue Lagoon
This is the second episode from my Tenerife holiday series.
You can see different spots that I have visited and plan your trip as you like it.
I hope you will enjoy this video and don't forget to subscribe for more!
Episode Two :
Playa Amarilla : It has one of the Island's most unusual landscapes. You will marvel at the impossible shapes that the waves have carved into the yellow rocks on the mountain, which has been declared a Natural Monument because of its extraordinary beauty.
The waters here are so clear you will be sorry not to have a pair of goggles with you to do some snorkelling or even take a dive. You are likely to see groups of divers and clubs dipping under the waves here.
The beach is made of rocks and pebbles, but there is a spot very nearby that has been made into a sunbathing area with easy access to the shore down a set of steps.
Playa El Abrigo : This beach made of sand and shingle is the ideal place to spend a day under the sun relaxing in clear waters, but what makes it so memorable is the sight of the waves beating against the rock formations of Roque de Fasnia.
This broad and comfortable beach makes a swim in its waters an unforgettable experience, thanks largely to its moderate waves and vast expanse of sand.
Despite its proximity to the town, it rarely gets busy and is therefore a great option for peace and quiet.
Puertito de Guimar : The best beach in Puertito de Güimar is the 700 m long Playa del Cabezo.
The beach has dark lava sand, which is mostly quite coarse. The water deepens rather abruptly, but there are rarely waves thanks to the breakwaters.
Puertito de Güimar is a nice and very relaxed town with a reasonable selection of shops, restaurants and cafés.
The best place in town to take a bath is mainly known by the locals. Walk on the pier and discover clear blue waters just at the tip of your feet.

OUR TRIP TO GF FANABE HOTEL, COSTA ADEJE, TENERIFE
What’s the GF Fanabe Hotel really like?
Sandra travelled from Dublin to Birmingham airport where I met her and continued to South Tenerife airport.
Terry had a few problems with converting from a manual to an Automatic car which is apparent with a few of the Bleeps in this vlog ;)
The GF Fañabé hotel has air conditioned rooms with views of the pools or streets, if you want the evening sun then best to the right side as you enter the pool as the left side is quickly consumed with shade. The balconies are quite small and you get an overwhelming feeling of concrete surrounding you.
One of the plus points for this hotel is the location, you can’t beat it, you’re close to the shops, Playa de Durque, Fanabe Market and the beach promenade with all the restaurants and bars next to the sea
The GF Fanabe hotel has plenty of entertainment including bars, children’s entertainment, surprisingly good quality entertainment for adults alike, that’s something I have a little knowledge about running an entertainment agency. The swimming pools are for all ages, areas to relax and chill, including the rooftop area albeit looking a tad tired.
Food at GF Fañabé was plentiful and of good quality, plenty of fresh meat and fish if you have the patience to wait whilst being cooked. One minus point was the hordes of people and queues for food.
GF Fañabé Hotel is located in Costa Adeje in the south of Tenerife, we clocked up to 18,000 steps a day walking up and down the promenade.
With the Fanabe Market being right next door beware of the days NOT to park in the car park, Wednesdays & Fridays as the Markets are on Thursdays and Saturdays. We learnt the hard way and parked the car alongside many others on a Wednesday night only to find the next day it was impounded, this was an expensive mistake and cost us €30 to get to the airport and a further €148 fees for the car being impounded.
All in all, this hotel was reasonably priced at €587 for 6 days which included half board and booking direct with the hotel through one of their special offers.
Hope you enjoy the video and that this information helps you with your hotel booking decisions
