Living in The Netherlands for almost 15 years already I still get excited whenever I hear about Filipino restaurant. This time we went to Nordrick Cafe, the first Filipino bread and pastry shop in The Hague opened recently, they offer Philippine specialties such as pan de sal, ensaymada, puto, kutsinta and kapeng barako.
Café Nordrick is owned and operated by Filipino restaurateurs Danton Lacorum and his wife Norma.

Coffeeshop The Stud
** The Stud **
The Stud has a proud history of Dutch cannabis culture. At a stone's throw from the original Ajax stadium, it steeped in football tradition. Founded way back in 1982, it was nonetheless voted 'best Dutch Coffeeshop' as recently as 2016. Locals and tourists are equally fond of its consistent quality and classic Amsterdam vibe.

Maastricht, Netherlands, City Tour
Maastricht is a unique city in Netherlands because it’s at the southernmost point of the country, way down by Belgium, by Germany, close to France even, and so the culture down here is little bit different than you find in the north and the west of the Netherlands.
It’s a very cosmopolitan city. It’s got that typical pedestrians zone with many little lanes just for people, no cars allowed, a lot of restaurants and cafés, there is the historic sites, the churches, there’s an old fortification and medieval walls around part of the city, and there’s a variety of other touring activities.
The main pedestrian street is Grote Staat. It goes right to the heart of Maastricht and it’s all for pedestrian, it's bicycles, people walking their dog, people out shopping. This evening it's about 7 PM we're getting twilight already. It's a Thursday, shops are open until nine on Thursdays, otherwise generally closing at 6 PM. So Thursday night is a great time to be out walking. And this is September, late September, the weather is unusually warm. For this whole month it’s been just perfect so that might be a the time for you to consider coming to visit the Netherlands.
It's an area for pedestrians and bicycles, for baby carriages, for people walking their dogs, but no cars loud here in this central shopping area of historic Maastricht.
It’s a pretty extensive zone that goes for dozens of blocks and with two main squares that are connected by the lovely pedestrian lanes. Naturally most of the shops are clothing stores but there’s a variety of other kind, there is the art galleries, sundries, there are cafés, there are always the bakeries, and the bar on the corner, there’s a few modern shopping malls tucked away in here as well too, beautiful Maastricht

Amsterdam Global Cafe 2015
The Amsterdam Global Cafe event took place on the 3rd of December 2015. It was organized by the Dutch National Committee in association with students at United World College (UWC) Maastricht. The theme was 'Access to Education', which was featured in various speeches and small group discussions throughout the event. This event was also the official welcoming to Robbert Dijkgraaf, a well known mathematical physicist and string theorist, as an ambassador for UWC Netherlands.
Global Café is an initiative focused on educating the UWC community about global issues and current affairs, engaging the voices of students, and facilitating discussion-based learning. We aim to take advantage of the cultural and ideological diversity of our student body in order to encourage a post-UWC engagement in the world. For us, Global Cafe embodies the ideals of United World College movement: synthesizing a celebration of difference, a passion for learning, a desire for intercultural understanding, and a commitment to global citizenship.

Follow this route:
- Walk straight from Leidseplein and stop at The Seafood Bar for kibbeling.

- Around the corner you will find Van Wonderen Stroopwaffles - indulge!

- Take the gorgeous alley besides it for Primark and ice cream.
- Enjoy these dutch foods!
P.S. Haven't tried herring yet - that experience is for another video! Also not included is bitterballen as that's more of a sit-down snack that I prefer eating at a bar or restaurant.

EATING IN LEIDEN
My trip to Holland, join me, Subscribe like and I would love a comment.. with love from Nederland’s
Indonesian Rijsttafel in my hometown Leiden, you can Google Leiden or Rijsttafel or where to eat but this a personal suggestion.
Indonesian Rijsttafel has become a big part of the Dutch culture that stems back to colonialism.
Having said that a restaurant that solely caters to Indonesian cuisine is getting more difficult to find. If it’s your goal to try an authentic Rijsttafel go to an Indonesian Restaurant not Chinese.
So glad we looked for the real deal I would highly recommend SURAKARTA in Leiden .. it was a great evening walk and a great evening with family.

Holland - Fiftieth anniversary of Marshall plan
T/I: 11:14:35 GS 10:06:42
US President Bill Clinton and European leaders gathered in the Hague on Wednesday (28/5) for ceremonies to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Marshall plan, which helped to rebuild Europe after World War Two.
During the event, which featured music and speeches, Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok, who is currently EU president, thanked America on behalf of all the countries which benefited from Marshall plan aid in the years after the war.
The Marshall plan was named after former US Secretary of State George Marshall, who devised the scheme to pump billions of dollars of aid into 16 European countries between 1948 and 1952 to help them rebuild.

STORYLINE:
Football fans celebrated across the Netherlands on Friday as they watched their team come from behind to record an unexpected 2-1 win against Brazil in the World Cup.
Supporters who watched the game live in the bars and cafes of Maastricht leapt and shrieked with joy as the full time whistle blew and their team became the first to advance into this year's World Cup semi-finals.
We thought the Brazilian guys won but after one half I thought Holland can do everything today, so it happens, said one fan.
Wesley Sneijder headed the winner in the 68th minute against a Brazil team that was subsequently reduced to ten men when Felipe Melo was sent off for stamping.
The game was played before a sellout crowd of 42,286 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
It was the Netherlands' first win over Brazil since the 1974 World Cup, when Johan Cruyff was the team's star and total football reigned.
Whilst Netherlands fans danced in delirium, Brazil's supporters were stunned into silence as their team's chance to win a sixth World Cup championship ended in defeat.
Brazil supporters at the FanFest on Copacabana beach began the morning confident their team would advance to the semi-finals.
But at full time the only people who were celebrating were the Dutch, a tiny island of fans dressed in their familiar orange shirts dancing amid a still sea of Brazil's green and yellow.
The rest of the beach watched, stunned, as their team was sent home from South Africa.
But a small contingent of orange-clad Haitians were cheering.

Netherlands: Haarlem, Alkmaar, Leiden, The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Gouda, Maastricht
Presenting a tour of the Netherlands
0:00 Introduction ; 03:26 Haarlem; 04:31 Alkmaar; 05:45 Leiden; 06:38 The Hague; 07:48 Delft; 08:54 Rotterdam; 10:11 Utrecht; 11:35 Gouda; 12:22 Maastricht ; 13:43 Conclusion
Starting with a visit to Haarlem, then to Leiden, doing a few day trips out from there. Then to Delft for three more nights and excursions to The Hague, political capital of the nation.
Then to Rotterdam the great modern city of the Netherlands, continuing to Utrecht, a university town with a large historic center and then to Maastricht in the southern part of the country. I'll also be going up to the Alkmaar cheese market which is a lot of fun.
This video is a summary of the trip through the Netherlands. We will be presenting short segments about each city here, but we have 22 movies providing a lot more details about these places so be sure to look for them in our collection.
See the 23 Dutch movies here:
Traveling between cities was so easy because the Netherlands has got perhaps the best train system in Europe. It's phenomenal. The trains are clean, fast, frequent and not expensive. This is a small country, so the cities are relatively close together, you can get from one to the next and 15 or 30 minutes usually. This superb rail service in itself makes a good reason to visit this country, shift for it really does eliminate some of those logistical problems of travel, just getting around. It is so easy with these trains.
Some call it Holland, but the country is The Netherlands. Holland is two provinces in the Netherlands.
