10 Minute Tour of Cahuita, Costa Rica
A quick bike ride from my front door, into downtown Cahuita, to the National Park and then down a side-street or two.
Cahuita National Park Costa Rica
Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Costa Rica. It has a trail running parallel to the beach in the forest so visitors can walk and see the abundant wildlife found in the park. It also has the longest coral reef in the country and visitors can take a tour to go snorkeling or hike the national park.

TRANSCRIPT
Good morning guys, today we're in Puerto Viejo exploring the beautiful Caribbean side of Costa Rica. I'm with Ernesto, the general manager of Caribe Fun Tours because today we're going to explore Cahuita National Park and go hiking through the area. So Ernesto can you just tell us a little bit about the tour that we're going to do today.
Yes, today you're going to go on a very exciting tour to the national park with our local guide Luis. You're going in probably about an hour and a half or so down to the main point of the park, you'll get some great shots of the beach from there, you'll get some great shots of some animals. Then after that you'll have a chance to have some local fruit, which will be prepared by your guide Luis. Then you'll head off to a waterfall and depending on the rain and water level, people can actually go swimming and refresh in there and also get some great photos of the waterfall.
OK so sounds like a fun day so let's go!
We’ve been walking for about thirty minutes, we’ve already seen a ton of wildlife, there’s actually a really nice path that goes along the beach through the national park so it’s really easy to walk
We’ve seen sloths, monkeys, iguanas so far, we should see quite a few more, it’s a really beautiful day, it’s really nice because it’s under the canopy so it’s nice and cool. This is a beautiful national park, definitely visit Cahuita when you’re in Puerto Viejo
We just finished the walk in Cahuita National Park, it was amazing and now we’re going to cool off at some of the waterfalls nearby
The tour ends here at the beautiful waterfall. We had a great time exploring Cahuita National Park we saw tons of cool wildlife. If you guys want to know more about this tour just click on the links below and thanks for watching

Cahuita Costa Rica
Cahuita Costa Rica (2009).
Even as tourism has mushroomed on Costa Rica’s southern coast, Cahuita has managed to hold onto its laid-back Caribbean vibe. The roads are made of dirt, many of the older houses rest on stilts and chatty neighbors still converse in Mekatelyu. A graceful black-sand beach and a chilled-out demeanor hint at a not-so-distant past, when the area was little more than just a string of cacao farms.
Cahuita proudly claims the area’s first permanent Afro-Caribbean settler – a turtle fisherman named William Smith, who moved his family to Punta Cahuita in 1828. Now his descendants, along with those of so many other West Indian immigrants, run the backyard eateries and brightly painted bungalows that hug this idyllic stretch of coast.
Situated on a pleasant point, the town itself has a waterfront, but no beach. For that, most folks make the jaunt to Playa Negra or into neighboring Parque Nacional Cahuita.

The National Park in Cahuita!! - Costa Rica!!
Hey guys!
Cahuita is an amazing town on the Southeastern part of the Costa Rican coast, its a smaller town that has a beautiful National Park with all kinds of jungle animals to see, the town is so relaxing and the Caribbean dishes make this stop a great destination while travelling through Costa Rica. Also, it is one of the less touristed towns which makes it very relaxing most of the year with a white long sandy beach to spend the afternoon or the black beach located just on the opposite side of town. Also this is one of the only national parks in Costa Rica that asks for a donation instead of the typical fee for tourists that is usually around $15 - $20.00 USD. This is the 1st video in a set of Cahuita, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next one!
NOTE: I did my best to GOOGLE the animal names if you see a correction, please let me know, I'm 99% sure that is a banana spider!!

Tour of Cahuita, Costa Rica
Here is a little tour of the town we are staying in, Cahuita. The intersection that we turn left on is basically the center of town. It is now a very tourism centered town. The atmosphere is quite laid back and simple. The food at restaurants is usually excellent and fairly inexpensive, but sometimes it might take a while to get to you. That is all part of the enjoyable Pura Vida lifestyle here. Wonder full place! Some of us heard the howler monkeys for the first time this morning, others got a sample later in the day while snorkeling. We also saw a sloth today. He was just 'chillin' above where the boats were hauled ashore.
