TRAVEL GUIDE: Big Conch and Sea Viagra Turks and Caicos
*VOTE FOR ME FOR USA TODAY's Best Travel Videographer:
Conch is a big part of the Turks and Caicos cuisine. Providence Island in Turks and Caicos is home to the only conch farm in the world, so of course I had to visit. I also tasted various conch recipes that are most popular on the island.

Turks & Caicos Conch Festival 2015
We visited the beautiful islands of Turks & Caicos and sampled some of the best Conch recipes in the Caribbean.
Cracking conch in Turks and Caicos
Manu from Haiti is doing a great job cracking conch and explaining what's what.
Hidden Gems: Turks & Caicos, Conch and Cuisine
Every Caribbean island is known for its special thing. In Grenada it's spices. In Jamaica, it's reggae and jerk. In the Turks & Caicos, they've got something really special: the conch. Watch as Peter experiences the ocean-to-plate philosophy throughout the Turks & Caicos.
Bugaloo's Turks and Caicos: Conch by the Sea
|| MyBoutiqueTravel.com ||
Located on the south shore of Providenciales, nestled in Five Cays Settlement is a small pastel pink oceanfront eatery know as Bugaloo's. I started out with an umbrella and a table Bugaloo says. It was a Friday. I had 50 conchs, and 150 people came the first day it opened. Berlie Bugaloo Williams, 62, is known as the first man on Providenciales with a real conch shack. Starting in 1994, Bugaloo would wade his way into the water, grab the conch fresh from the sea and prepare it for customers in a tiny shed made of plywood. 20 years later the operation has grown, but the principles are still the same. Patrons can come and watch Conch be pulled out of the ocean and prepared just minutes before they eat it. Come see why Bugaloo's is the best way to eat Conch in Turks and Caicos.

Conch Bar Caves, Middle Caicos, Turks & Caicos
Amazing caves to visit (can wear flip flops but running shoes are better). Stop at the entrance to pay the fee and strongly recommend the extra couple bcks for the guided tour. Dimitri, the tour guide was awesome (while not required/requested, tipped him because he was that great).
For videographers or photographers, well worth it. Don’t forget a steady cam, ND filter and a couple of strong LED lights for various effects (lighting, backlighting, etc). Lower light areas could use a travel tripod for support and smaller F-stop. Christmas room is completely pitch dark with no lights. Absolutely mental.
Inscription on the plaque outside the entrance:
These limestone caves are the largest in the Caicos Islands. They continue underground for great distances and some believe there are tunnels that reach the sea.
In the 1880’s, the caves were mined for “guana” or bat maure. For 10 years until the supply was exhausted this “cave” earth was exported overseas where fertilizer was in great demand.
During this time, evindence of Lucayan habitation was unearthed. These aboriginal people used the caves as places of worship and as shelters during hurricanes. Artifacts include two wooden stools and some crude bedsteads of forked sticks.
