Explore - A Storybook Town
Story Title: A Story Book Town
Episode: 7
Broadcast Date: 8th February 2014
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
If you're after a storybook European city, Bruges ticks every box; horse-drawn carriages; tiny cobbled streets; handmade stone bridges; canals filled with swans, gargoyles on the corners of Gothic churches and at night, slightly askew towers illuminated by golden light.
Hiking in Bariloche
At the end of a semester living in Buenos Aires, a week in the outdoors, hiking and kayaking was just what I needed.

10 Best Places to Visit in Argentina - Travel Video
With jaw-dropping scenery, abundance of exotic wildlife, colonial towns and cities rife with superb cuisine and vibrant culture, it is no wonder that Argentina is a popular travel destination. Located in the southern region of South America in a large, elongated shape, Argentina was sparsely inhabited by a few indigenous tribes before Spain’s colonized it in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, the country is an independent republic featuring varied landscapes from rich plains to thick jungle, majestic mountains, pastoral steppes and impressive glaciers. An overview of the best places to visit in Argentina.
Torres del Paine Patagonia by car from El Calafate
if you are too late to reserve the free camping sites on the W-trek you might be looking for alternatives. Since organized tours are pretty expensive (3 days around 290US$ p.P.) renting a car is a comparably cheap alternative.
We booked the car at Sunny Rental in El Calafate for:
1250 ARS per day including 200 km per day
700 ARS for the paper work to cross the border to Chile
2 ARS for every additional kilometer
If you combine the TDP tour with the Perito Moreno Glacier you end up saving money eventually.
Don't forget to refuel in Esperanza when driving to the border at Cerro Castillo. After crossing the border to Chile (it's not allowed to bring any fresh food into Chile) you will pay around 50 US$ p.P entry fee for the National Park TDP.
Since the Torres Central Camping site is normally booked out at high season a good and cheap alternative is to camp next to the Nash Patagonia. The Grandfather rents his lawn with a nice view on the Torres for only 6000 CLP p.P.
The hike to the Torres takes about 8 hours from the Parking lot. Afterwards we were heading to Pehoé lake to camp for another night for 10.000 CLP p.P. Here you can hike up to the Condor Mirador to see the lakes and if you are lucky some Condors.

Puerto Natales Travel Guide - Chile Memorable Experience
Puerto Natales Travel Guide - Chile Memorable Experience
Puerto Natales is a city in Chilean Patagonia. It is the capital of both the commune of Natales and the province of Última Esperanza, one of the four provinces that make up the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region in the southernmost part of Chile. Puerto Natales is the only city in the province. It is located 247 km (153 mi) northwest of Punta Arenas. It is the final passenger port of call for the Navimag ferry sailing from Puerto Montt into the Señoret Channel as well as the primary transit point for travellers to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
It is located at the opening of Última Esperanza Sound and was originally inhabited by the Kawésqar or Alacaluf people and the Aoniken or Tehuelche people. The first European to discover the area where the city is located was Juan Ladrillero, a Spanish explorer who was looking for the Strait of Magellan's western passage in 1557.
The city was later settled by European immigrants, primarily Germans, British, including English, Welsh and Scots, Croats, Greeks, Italians and Spaniards. It was then settled by Chilean people, with a substantial number coming from the island of Chiloé, all attracted by the sheep breeding industry. The city was formally founded under the government of Ramón Barros Luco on May 31, 1911. Nowadays, one of its most important industries is tourism although the cattle and aquaculture industries are also significant.
Puerto Natales has many tourist facilities and it has become a common base for excursions to the world-renowned Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most popular national parks in Chile. Its main feature, the mountainous “towers” (torres), are an impressive and unique rock formation known as Torres del Paine. They comprise the Torre Central (Central Tower), 2,800 meters high; Torre Sur (South Tower) 2,850 m; and Torre Norte (North Tower) 2,248 m. Named a Unesco World Biosphere Reserve, the park is home to hundreds of different birds and many species of mammal, as well as the third largest ice field on the planet.
Twenty four kilometres (15 mi) northwest of Puerto Natales, along the flanks of the Cerro Benitez Mountains, lies the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument. It comprises several caves and a rock formation called the Silla del Diablo (Devil's Chair). The main cave, used by prehistoric tribes, is notable for the discovery in 1895 of skin, bones and other parts of a giant ground sloth known as the Mylodon (Mylodon darwini), today extinct. The area includes the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park; and the Alacalufes National Reserve. The latter is the site of the Fjord of the Mountains, Cordillera Riesco and Cordillera Sarmiento.
A museum in nearby Punta Arenas. The Nao Victoria was one of the five ships (and the only one that survived) that sailed in the Spanish Armada de Molucca expedition which discovered the meeting point the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.Companies offering boat trips through the Patagonian fjords depart from Puerto Natales Pier and take tourists to view the region’s many icebergs.
There are plenty of hostels and residentials around the town. There are also many Hospedajes. The (mostly) women of the hospedajes wait for the bus to come and try to talk tourists into their home. Many people continue to the north to El Calafate and El Chalten and on to the Carretera austral. All busses leave from the bus terminal.
The gateway to Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, this town feeds off tourism, an all-you-can-eat feast with unwavering demand. Boutique beers and wine tastings have overtaken tea time, and gear shops have replaced the yarn sellers. While there are growing services that cater to international tastes, there's appeal in Natales' corrugated-tin houses strung shoulder to shoulder and cozy granny-style lodgings. Most notably, in spite of a near-constant swarm of visitors, the town still maintains the glacial pace of living endemic to Patagonia.
( Puerto Natales - Chile ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Puerto Natales . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Puerto Natales - Chile

We're going back to Peru with our bikes... and you're coming along!
In 2016, my partner and I left behind the comforts of home to live and travel on our bicycles through Latin America. We started in Mexico and after 14 months in 10 countries, we ended in Peru. We've been off our bikes for a year and now we are finally returning South America to cycle the rest of the continent. Peru to Patagonia begins June 3!

DAY IN THE LIFE - VANLIFE / TACOS / LONGBOARDING
I always get asked what a day in the life is like when living in a van. I decided to bring you along to see what a typical (non-working day) is like in the van life. It's a really beautiful thing living in a van because you get to wake up somewhere new and explore different places every day. This morning we woke up in Venice, California and explored the canals and then went for a longboard ride on the boardwalk. Next up, tuna tacos made by scratch - they were so delicious and so easy to cook in the van. After that, we went looking for caves and then took a great nap in the van.
Living in a van is definitely interesting because we don't have much space. But I honestly love it because it gets me outside seeing new things. It's so easy to get caught up in a house and watch netflix all day - but not in the vanlife!

Travel tips for visiting Bariloche- a paradise in the lake district of Patagonia
San Carlos de Bariloche is one of the hilghlights for many people traveling Patagonia. This short video slideshow explains some of the highlights of visiting Patagonia- from great hikes to, fishing to boat rides and a bit about what makes this small town so special.
Tourist Destination in Argentina Cueva de las Manos
This archeological site is an essential destination for anyone who appreciates art or history. The Cueva de las Manos includes a magnificent collection of prehistoric cave paintings that were completed 9,000 years ago by ancestors of the Tehuelche people who inhabit Patagonia and the Pinturas River Canyon.
Cycling from El Chaltén to Ushuaia
Cycling from El Chaltén to Ushuaia is a beautiful, exciting ride through wild Patagonia, and comes with it's own challenges. These include 70km/h winds, sparse towns, long distances between supplies (even water), and finding spaces to camp.
Tierra Del Fuego is a wild and stunning part of the world, with guanacos, emus and armadillos being some of the wildlife highlights.
Yes - it's extremely windy, but there's much more to cycling Tierra del Fuego than just gales and pampas grass! And there's something pretty cool about cycling to el fin del mundo...

Another Beautiful Day of Photography in Patagonia
This Patagonia place; it's pretty nice!
It was another beautiful day in Patagonia. We started off the day getting some work done at Nakel Yenu Hostel in El Calafate. Then, it was time to hit the road deeper south in Patagonia.
We crossed the border from Argentina back into Chile as we are planning some time in Torres del Paine National Park. However, due to a bit of a fuel situation, we decided that it would be smarter to just head into Puerto Natales and spend the afternoon shooting some photography there.
Puerto Natales is actually one of the first places I ever set my camera on as a travel photographer, so it was a bit of a nostalgic visit. The town of Puerto Natales has grown a lot since I was last there. There's new restaurants, new hotels, and a lot more tourists too. In fact, as we were out shooting photography on the pier, there were about a dozen other people taking pictures as well.
After getting some shots, we headed out to a local restaurant and craft beer spot in Puerto Natales for some dinner, then we pushed the drive out to Torres del Paine National Park where we camped the night.
Tomorrow, there will be another Patagonia vlog; this one from Torres del Paine National Park.
