Sardinia: Cala Gonone & Beaches
Don't forget to subscribe!!
If you get the chance to go to Sardinia, I highly recommend it! The beaches here have crystal clear, bright blue water, and there is a wide selection of types of beaches to visit (calm, sandy beaches or remote, rocky ones). We had such a blast. More trip details below!
We visited Sardinia and based ourselves in Cala Gonone. A quieter town on the beach, it's an excellent base to visit all the gorgeous beaches along the coast. The town has a pedestrian friendly street along the water, lined with shops and restaurants. We stayed at Hotel Nettuno; definitely recommend it!!
Gonone has a few of it's own beaches, perfect to walk to and still be conveniently close to cafes and restaurants.
A five minute drive away is the tiny, but lovely, Cala Fuili.
A 20 minute drive north takes you to Cala Cartoe (neighbouring the also popular Cala Osalla). A perfect stretch of sandy beach.
For all the other beaches south of Gonone, you must go by boat (with the exception of Cala Luna, which is a lengthy hike from Fuili).
The beaches are remote and are not accessible by car. At the harbor in Gonone, there are many boat stalls offering mini-cruises, day trips, rent your own boat, etc. You just pick what suits you.
However, these boat fares are not cheap; it cost us 20 euros per person to just go to Cala Luna (which isn't even that far!). It is even more expensive to visit the further-away beaches. For that reason, we just took a visit to Luna, because that is a must-see!
Our last day we drove an hour south to hike to Cala Goloritze, where we met goats, cows, and donkeys. The hike is steep and challenging, but glorious when you turn around the bend and see the beach. The beach is small and felt a bit congested. There is no sand, but rather large slabs of smooth limestone jutting out from the mountain. It was a very interesting, not like any beach I've ever been to before. Definitely my favorite though!
If you've been to Sardinia, I would love to hear about your experience!

Golfo di Orosei | Firm przedstawia rajskie plaże w zatoce Orosei. Pierwsza to Cala Fuili - można do niej dotrzeć drogą asfaltową z miejscowości Cala Gonone.

Places to see in ( Sardinia - Italy ) Cala Gonone
Cala Gonone is an Italian seaside town and a civil parish of the municipality of Dorgali, Province of Nuoro, in the region of Sardinia. In 2007 it had 1,279 inhabitants. The area around Cala Gonone was inhabited in the Nuragic Era. The remains of a Nuragic settlement can be seen at Nuraghe Mannu on the outskirts of the village, just off the road to Dorgali.
The modern village was founded by a colony of fishermen from the island of Ponza at the beginning of the 20th century. The town however remained largely isolated from the rest of Sardinia until the tunnel through the hills from Dorgali was opened in 1860.
The town is situated in the Bay of Orosei on the east of the island and in the geographical region of Supramonte, 9 kilometers from Dorgali, 41 from Nuoro and 108 from Olbia. Close to the village, and reachable by the sea, is the show cave of Bue Marino. Many boats from small speedboats to large tourist boats dock in at the Bue Marino or travel further down the coast to Cala Luna to let the passengers bath in the turquoise water or explore the caves that have been hollowed out by the sea. Almost everyone that goes to the small caves writes their name in charcoal, from a small fire, on the wall, creating a huge mass of writing across several meters of the cave wall.
Due to its natural environment (the territory is included in the Gennargentu National Park) and to the quality of its waters, Cala Gonone is a popular tourist venue. The beaches of the village are: the Spiaggia Centrale (central beach), S'Abba Durche, Cala Luna, Cartoe, Osalla, Cala Fuili, Sos Dorroles, S'Abba Meica, Ziu Martine and Cala Fuili.

Cala Fuili - Grotta Nuova - Cala Tziu Santoru - Toddeitto (Supramonte Dorgali - Sardinia)
