Take a romantic ride in one of Quebec City’s horse-drawn carriages. During the winter months, many of the same companies offer sleigh rides. Known as “une calèche” (singular) or “des calèches” (plural), a horse-drawn carriage ride will give you a personalized tour of at a relaxed pace. Prices are set per-carriage rather than per-person, starting around $65.00 (CAN), but the expense is worth it — the knowledgeable driver of your carriage will be able to give you an authentic, classic feel for the city. Carriage rides are offered during high tourist season, from June through September, and most drivers will pick you up directly from your hotel or another point of interest within Old Quebec. Most tours last about 45 minutes. The scenery alone is well worth the price!

If you can, try it out, you learn a lot from the tour.

Quebec City Upper Historical Canada
Quebec City is the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec. The city had a population estimate of 531,902 on July 2016.
The narrowing of the Saint Lawrence River proximate to the city's promontory, Cap-Diamant (Cape Diamond), and Lévis, on the opposite bank, provided the name given to the city, Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning where the river narrows.
Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) are the only fortified city walls remaining in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 as the 'Historic District of Old Québec'.
The city's landmarks include the Château Frontenac, a hotel which dominates the skyline, and La Citadelle, an intact fortress that forms the centrepiece of the ramparts surrounding the old city.
The National Assembly of Quebec (provincial legislature), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec), and the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization) are found within or near Vieux-Québec.

Uh yeah, a video of a carriage horse in Old Quebec and a pretty little water fountain and the Chateau Frontenac(excuse the spelling) and another building.

Wander through the Vieux-Quebec district of Quebec City on a chilly April day. With landmarks like the Chateau Frontenac, the Place Royale, and the Notre Dame de Quebec Cathedral, the oldest city in North America has something to amaze you around every corner. Even though Quebec City is old, spending just a couple minutes at the the Place d'Youville or the Terrasse Dufferin is all you'll need to see this historic gem is still as alive and bustling as it's ever been.

Quebec City Tour Guide
Quebec City tour guide Stephen Marchessault talks to Andrew Greenfield from Life in Québec about the decision to do away with the tour guide permit.
Stephen is a history major and has studied the Quebec region extensively.
He is a Quebec City tour guide and for years taught the tour guiding course in English at CEGEP St Lawrence.
He designed the course and today is responsible for many of the guides who ply their trade in Quebec City.
He is considered a subject matter expert when it comes to the history of the Quebec region.
Stephen also wrote The Life in Quebec Magazine Quebec City Walking Tour edition.
Up until recently, to work as a tour guide in Quebec City you had to be licenced and pass a 150-hour course. The course that he wrote and delivered in English.
We're 2 weeks into January 2016 and just before last Christmas, so less than a month ago, the city decided to scrap the licence.
Tour finally in Quebec city!!!!!!

Today, I rode a horse and carriage around Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. I can't say that I have ever done THAT before. First time for everything, I suppose.
There was so much to see in this city. It was a very clean and very organized city. Not sure how to describe it, to be honest.
I enjoyed exploring it! :)
