Siem Reap Floating Village - Should You Visit? ????????
This video is about the insane adventure we had experienced while exploring the Khmer life in the Cambodian countryside and floating village around Siem Reap. We roamed around the rural communities in Cambodia which are settled on the shores of Tonle Sap Lake.
Kampong Phluk is a commune and village in Siem Reap Province in northern-central Cambodia. It is a village built on stilts on the Tonle Sap. The community largely depends on fishing for survival
Siem Reap, a resort town in northwestern Cambodia, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. Angkor’s vast complex of intricate stone buildings includes preserved Angkor Wat, the main temple, which is pictured on Cambodia’s flag. Giant, mysterious faces are carved into the Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom.

DON'T go to SUNRISE at ANGKOR WAT!
Location: Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
This morning we woke up at 4 a.m. to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. It was OK... To be completely honest, I think there are much better ways to spend your morning exploring the Angkor Temple complex.
Sunrise at Angkor Wat is OVERRUN by tourist. Yes, we did contribute to the problem, but that's beside the point. When we showed up to Angkor Wat at 5 a.m. there were already TONS of people there. We weren't even able to get a seat on the far side of the pond. By the time the sun was rising, there were over 2,000 people watching the sunrise with us. The crowds were almost more impressive than the sunrise.
Don't get me wrong, the sunrise over Angkor Wat is beautiful, but so is everything else at the Angkor Temple complex. I would suggest getting up super early one day an visiting other temples besides Angkor Wat at around 6 a.m.. You could have the amazing temples to yourself while everyone else is fighting at Angkor Wat to snap the best picture of the sunrise.

About This Episode:
Book your Food Tour with Angkor Street Eats →
While in Siem Reap I went on an epic food tour with Angkor Street Eats, led by local guide, Kun. Throughout the duration of the evening I tried dozens of new foods and drinks that completely exceeded my expectations.
The tour provides a bevy of unique, authentically khmer dishes as well as a few adventure eating courses that will really test your palette. These are foods and places that you will not find on your own near any tourist areas.
Beyond the amazing food, my guide Kun, was a beacon of knowledge. Since he grew up in Siem Reap, he is literally a part of its history. He told stories about conflicts within the country, the ways Siem Reap has changed over the years and of course, all about the food.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Siem Reap. You will not find an experience like this anywhere else.

Cambodian cultural night 2018 at siem reap city in cambodia. last part
Cambodian Dance can be divided into three main categories: classical dance, folk dances, and vernacular dances.
Khmer Apsara dancers
Khmer classical dance is a form of Cambodian dance originally performed only for royalty. The dances have many elements in common with Thai classical dance. During the mid-20th century, it was introduced to the public where it now remains a celebrated icon of Khmer culture, often being performed during public events, holidays, and for tourists visiting Cambodia.this classical Dance is famous for its using of hands and feet to express emotion which known as there are 4,000 different gestures in this type of dance. Provided as repeating a golden age in 1960s, Khmer Classical Dance also known as The Royal Ballet of Cambodia after select as UNESCO's Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, has led one of its dance to be an outstanding dance of all for culture and society. Reamker, a khmer version of Indian, Ramayana had influenced strongly to Khmer classical dance. It involved in khmer gesture, movement and story line. The dance that divided from Reamker Dance known as Robam Sovann Macha and Robam Moni Mekala. In Facts, all of Dance reminded the audience of celestial dance which is an angel or Apsara in Sansrit mythology in goal of bringing the good luck and success to the viewer. The Classical dance is create by the heart of high art as the performer is decorated with themselves with a branches of jewellry.
Apsara Dance, a khmer dance that has survived since the Angkor Era, has been singled out to attract foreign tourists and to make the richness of Khmer culture known to the world. Apsara Dance was promoted by Princess Norodom Buppha Devi before the Khmer Rouge times and recently has received an award as one of the main symbols of Cambodia.
Khmer folk dances, which are performed for audiences, are fast-paced. The movements and gestures are not as stylized as Khmer classical dance. Folk dancers wear clothes of the people they are portraying such as Chams, hill tribes, farmers, and peasants. The folk dance music is played by a mahori orchestra.
Cambodian vernacular dances (or social dances) are those danced at social gatherings. Such dances include Romvong, Rom Kbach, Rom Saravan, and Lam Leav. Some of these dances have much influence from the traditional dances of Laos. But Rom Kbach, for example, take heavily from the classical dance of the royal court. Other social dances from around the world have influenced Cambodian social culture including the Cha-cha, Bolero, and the Madison.

24 Hours In Cambodia | Private Sunrise Tour $110- WORTH IT?
Since I went to Siem Reap alone, I got a private guide and driver. Let's get this out of the way first, How much did it cost? It cost me $110 USD , for a 10 hour experience. Now the cost would be reduced by almost half if you were with a friend, and a third if you with another, and so on, and so forth. I felt this was the best choice for me, to get the full experience, be able to video and speak freely, and move about in as little or as much time as I wanted. Plus, he took some really awesome photos for me! The entrance fee is $20 (£15) to $37 (£28) for a one-day pass, a three-day pass from $40 (£31) to $62 (£48) and a seven-day ticket from $60 (£46) to $72 (£55)
The visa system was extremely efficient. Don't forget to bring a photo, but if you do, they have people who can photograph you at an inexpensive cost, but it'll take time. For me, I had a photo with me and filled out the visa form in line- it took me about 10 minutes.
That evening, I went to the market to buy some clothes that will cover my knees and shoulders. The temples have a strictly enforced, no exposed body parts, rule.
The first temple I went to, is Angkor Wat and I went at 5am for sunrise. I enjoyed the whole experience, albeit tiring.
I just wanted to say, at about 4:50, the statue isn't a hindu statue but rather a buddhist statue with a buddhist robe, but an example of one is in 6:40 (Hindu God Vishnu with a Buddhist robe). To get the full effect of the echo room: listen with headphones- the reverb is seriously cool!
The second temple I went to is Phnom Bakheng Temple. It has 5 tiers and overlooks Angkor Wat. The third temple is called Bayon Temple- a temple known for the many heads that face in all directions. It's really magnificent there.
Ta Keo Temple is fourth- beautiful too- lots to steps though. But what really stood out to me about this temple is kindness. I joined some locals for beers ($1USD), and there was a chance you'd win another beer with the beer (it was one of those, lift the top of the can, kind of contest/games). I bought a round ($6USD) and won a free beer too. It's ridiculous, a drink in Canada is about $10...
The fifth and last temple is Ta Prohm Temple- tomb raider temple had a lot of really interesting tree growth. By this time, I was sooooo tired. So it was nice to end the tour with a Hollywood film location :)
That evening, I took the tuk tuk (the motorcycle buggies) to the circus (Phare). For $18 USD, I'd recommend it. It's interesting, teaches you a bit about culture, it gives you a chance to support local artists.

It's not ever day that I get potentially saved from killer crocodiles (saimese) in Cambodia. But, today was the day!
I took a bicycle journey along the Pursat River to learn more about how the people lived and try to feel a little bit of their culture. My goal is always to interact with the local people - young or old.
Basically, if anyone tries to talk to me, I will stop and try my best to communicate (through body language or google translate).
Today, it was the Khmer children who tried to interact with me. I tried to find an access point to the river - but they were hesitant.
As I was about to enter the river, they stopped me. Luckily my phone service worked just long enough to learn that nobody goes swimming because there are crocodiles in the water! WOW!
Thank goodness my phone worked just at the right time! ????

About This Episode:
Cambodia is not for the feint of heart. This place, especially the main tourist areas are intense as hell with nonstop yelling from aggressive salespeople doing their best to hustle for some cash.
My fondest memories of Cambodia were in the countryside and more specifically in this small village. I met so many friendly people with no agenda other than to satisfy their curiosity as to why the heck this giant foreigner was on their turf.
Dani, my guide in Siem Reap, is cooking up a local classic, Prahok which is made using Cambodian Cheese. This cheese is actually fish that's been fermenting for over one year. Now let's see if Dani can actually make this taste good. Ready? Go.

Cambodian Food Tour in Siem Reap!
Another souvenir from my latest trip to Asia, sorry took a while to get it out to you! I finally made it to Cambodia. I went with an intention to see Angkor Wat, but I was almost more excited to experience the cuisine. Cambodia and Thailand have access to the same ingredients and share very similar roots, so I was very interested to see in what ways the two cuisines are similar and different.
I was so lucky to have a wonderful tour guide, Sam of SR Group, because he himself is a foodie, and happens to also be a fan of Hot Thai Kitchen! Obviously, we had no shortage of great food during this trip. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

Cambodia is changing so fast right now. Sihanoukville has been ruined by Chinese casinos and it looks like Phnom Penh might start going the same way.
If you want to enjoy Phnom Penh as it is now do so quickly, as I expect in the near future there will be big changes and prices for everything could go up sharply.

This video is aimed at a US audience, but these tips can help everyone.
First, you will need a visitor visa, which is $36 USD and can be purchased online or at the airport with CASH only.
►► Cambodia Visa:
Next, we visit the Siem Reap airport, which has many conveniences, including chain restaurants like Starbucks. Cambodia is one of a handful of countries that does not have McDonalds.
Now time to talk accommodations. We stayed at the Le Meridien, which is roughly $95 USD per night and comes with spacious rooms that can easily be shared to cut expenses. We chose this option because it is minutes from Angkor Wat. Another option is the Naga Angkor, or the Angkor Heart Bungalows.

Next, check the travel advisory site before your visit. It will contain any warnings and highlight any vaccines you may need. One precaution you must take is malaria, so bring bug spray.

Dress code is also important because to get into the temples, you will need proper attire. Bring lightweight fabrics, pants, and shirts that cover your shoulders. Don't forget walking shoes.
Lastly, always travel with peace of mind with travel insurance. You can get a quote online for travel insurance at World Nomads.

Sunrise At Angkor Wat Temple | Tourist Attraction in Siem Reap Cambodia
It's my first time to see sunrise at Angkor wat temple in Siem Reap province in Cambodia. We have to get up at 4am traveling to the temple. The road is not quiet as there are people, especially tourists going to see the Sunrise every morning. We got there at around 4:30am, the sky is still dark and not so many tourists yet. There are more and more tourists come and crowded at around 5:45am. I was there in front of Angkor Wat temple at a small pond on the right of the temple walk way. I thought that only these amount of people at the right pond but i walked to the left pond after that. OMG!!! tourists are crowded on the left pond. The sun was not rising well that morning as it's overcast but it was great to see lots of tourists coming. Bravo Cambodia!!! Bravo Angkor Wat temple!!
Thank you very much for watching. Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and SHARE this video to all Khmers and the world.
Your support is a huge encouragement for me as a Khmer to continue sharing the tourist attraction places in Cambodia to all Khmer and the World and bring more tourists to Cambodia.
